It seems like GW21 was painful for many when it came to captaincy picks. Pep lived up to his reputation, as we all stocked up on Man City players, leaving many Sterling owners double checking who their vice captain was. With Salah currently out of form, many stuck the armband on Gundogan (6pts), Calvert-Lewin (4pts) and Fernandes (6pts). Typical of this season, Mo Salah (30pts) came good when many had finally given up hope, so lets start there.
FPL GW22 Captaincy Picks
Mohamed Salah vs BHA (H)
The Egyptian King was back in fine finishing form vs West Ham, scoring twice to end a run of 6 games without an attacking return. Both goals were taken well, with Salah showing his sharpness and composure in front of goal.
This could be the start of a scoring run for Mo, with his record vs Brighton been quite an impressive one. Since joining the Premier League, Salah has played Brighton 7 times and has produced 9 attacking returns.
Mo Salah vs BHA

🅰️ 4 Assists
Salah has only blanked in 1 of the 7 fixtures with Brighton. This fixture will be Mo’s 4th home fixture vs BHA with the previous 3 fixtures all ending in victories for Liverpool (2-1, 1-0, 4-0).
I expect Graham Potters BHA to frustrate LIV with a low block, like they did in the opposite fixture this season, but if Liverpool take the performance they bought to WHU this weekend, it’s going to be hard for Brighton to keep Salah quiet.

Raheem Sterling vs BUR (A)
Pep Guardiola gave Sterling and many others a full rest, only using a single substitution in Rodri. Sterling will be fresh and ready to try and get his share of goals against a resilient Burnley at Turf Moor.
The last time Sterling played against Burnley was in the EFL Cup 1/8 Finals, scoring 2 goals and returning the favour to Ferran Torres, with an assist. Sterling however did not play a single minute in the last 2 games, when City won both 5-0.
With a goal and assist in his last appearance for MCI scoring 11pts, Sterling will be hoping to be involved with another Burnley thrashing. MCI have scored 20 goals in the last 5 Premier League Matches vs BUR, whilst only conceding 1.

Michail Antonio vs AVL (A)
Michail Antonio has been a breath of fresh air for West Ham fans and FPL managers since his return from injury. Just in time for DGW19 Antonio was ready to return for the Hammers, whilst returning points for FPL managers.
Antonio hit the ground running with match winning goals at BUR and WBA, earning him all 3 bonus points in both matches. He then came out of the GW22 CRY match bemused that he’d not scored at least one, although he earned an assist.
I’m not an Antonio owner, so you can imagine I was relieved to see 2 of his 5 shots hit the same post. He really could have outscored Soucek in this fixture, with 2 big chances created and 2 chances created.
He faces a Villa side who have been suspect at the back in the past 2 games, with Emi Martinez and VAR doing much of the saving. Villa can be a solid unit at times, but have failed to keep a clean sheet against top half opposition at home this season.

Callum Wilson vs CRY (H)
I’m sure we can all agree there’s no doubting this mans goal scoring ability, it’s his manager and team mates. Callum Wilson has now taken his goal tally up to 10 after scoring 2 goals vs Everton in GW21.
This brings Wilson just 1 goal shy of Vardy, Calvert-Lewin and Bamford on 11 goals each. This is impressive when you take into consideration, the creativity of the players around the 3 strikers mentioned.
In FPL Wilson takes advantage of not having great creative players around him who compete for bonus points. Only Harry Kane (26) and Bruno Fernandes (22) have scored more bonus points than Callum Wilson (19).
Wilson’s goals often come with 3 bonus points. In the 7 matches he scored goals in he took 3 bonus on 5/7 occasions, with a respectable 2 bonus points in the other 2 matches. Wilson owners should fancy him vs Crystal Palace who have only kept 1 clean sheet away from home all season.

Matheus Pereira vs SHU (A)
Big Sam’s main threat is my biggest differential choice. If there’s ever a season to got with a differential captain I guess 20/21 is the one. So many times we’ve seen captain obvious go wrong, as we comfort one another in the aftermath on Twitter saying “trust the process, his underlying stats were good”. So if you’re short on options due to your selection, the baggies talisman is a shout.
Since Big Sam started Pereira, he’s scored 4 goals in 5 games, with 1 assist.
He seems to be taking up the responsibility of playmaker, but he’s also breaking into the box once the balls gone wide. This helped him pick up a goal and assist, scoring 13pts, to add to his recent hauls of 9pts and 15pts (Total of 8 bonus points).
With Pereira on set pieces and West Brom looking to build on what they have. Pereira’s quality and Big Sam’s set-piece organization may be the key to unlocking rock bottom Sheffield United who will be desperate for all 3 points.
