FPL GW5 Predicted Lineups

Arsenal

Arsenal GW5 Predicted formation: 4-3-3

Arsenal GW5 Predicted lineup:

David Raya

Timber – Saliba – Gabriel – Calafiori

Merino – Zubimendi – Rice

Madueke – Gyokeres – Eze

Notes/Injury Updates:

  • Bukayo Saka has not played since his hamstring injury last month, and it remains doubtful whether he will see any minutes this weekend. Odegaard and Ben White are doubtful as well due to injury. However, Arteta has not ruled out the possibility of seeing these players on the pitch against Man City.
  • Arteta on Saka, White, and Odegaard: “If there is a chance [they may be fit], it will be after tomorrow’s session because they haven’t done anything yet, so we’ll have more information tomorrow.”
  • Saliba made his return to the squad in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Athletic Club in the Champions League this week. It seems likely that Arteta will pick this weekend’s massive fixture against City as Saliba’s return to the fray and the starting lineup.
  • Arteta on Saliba: “Let’s see. He’s been carrying an injury. He did well to be available for the last match. He’s really pushing it. We’ll decide tomorrow.”
  • Arteta confirmed that Merino and Gyokeres are fine as well after they picked up head injuries in Europe midweek.
  • Havertz and Gabriel Jesus are still ruled out with injuries.

Aston Villa

Aston Villa GW5 Predicted formation:

  • 4-2-3-1

Aston Villa GW5 Predicted Lineup:

Martinez

Aston Villa Notes/Injury Updates:

  • Boubacar Kamara has returned to the fold and is expected to start against Sunderland this weekend.
  • Emery on Kamara (via BBC): “We are so happy when players come back after they were injured. But as well we have players who are playing well. Lamare Bogarde is progressing and he played a fantastic two matches. With Kamara, we are adding one possibility to play as well with his experience and his qualities. But of course, when there are some players that are performing like Lamare, I am feeling as well comfortable and confident. For Sunday, he’s [Kamara] coming back after he played 20 minutes against Brentford. Of course, it’s good news for the team to have him available for us.”
  • Tielemans will not be available after his calf injury against Everton last weekend.
  • Onana, Garcia, and Barkley are still ruled out.

Jordan had his first 90 minutes [against Chelsea] after a disrupted pre-season and Thiago has had a really good spell but before that had been out for a period of time. “We just want to make sure we’re looking after them.”
  • Brentford opted for a back 5 against Chelsea in GW4 but are expected to go back to a back four in GW5 vs Fulham in a comparatively easy game.
  • Ajer came off a knock vs Villa but is not injured and available.

  • 4-3-3

Chelsea Team News and Notes:

  • Good news for Chelsea fans! Cole Palmer is fit and available for selection against Manchester United, making a return to the starting XI highly likely for the Englishman.
  • Maresca on Palmer: “Yes, Cole is okay”.
  • However, the fitness of his remaining players still needs to be assessed after their gruelling 3-1 UCL defeat to Bayern Munich this week.
  • Maresca added on the rest of his squad: “We have a training session now where we will look at the players. We flew back yesterday [from Munich], so we need to assess some of the guys before we make a decision for the weekend. We haven’t had a session since the game on Wednesday, we have some doubts but we will see after today’s training session.”
  • Delap remains on the sidelines due to a long-term hamstring injury, with Colwill in a similar situation.
  • Marc Guiu, who was recalled from his loan at Sunderland this season, is one to keep an eye on. He could get some minutes or maybe even start if Joao Pedro has to be rested. Pedro is still expected to start, though.
  • Maresca on Guiu: “Marc Guiu is back and the reason why he is back is because we intend to use him. He is a good player and while he needs to do things better and can still improve, we know what Marc can offer us. For sure, we are going to use him.”
  • Gusto vs James will be a 50/50 call, although Gusto could be rested since he played the entire 90 against Bayern, and James could start at right-back.

  • Glasner on Nketiah (via the aforementioned outlet): “Eddie is a bit different. He missed all the pre-season, but he looked very good in training today and on Wednesday, when we had a really intense session, so let’s see how the game is going, but those players looked very sharp in training.”

  • Garner is expected to start at left-back, despite his natural position as a midfielder, in Mykolenko’s stead. Tim Iroegbunam is expected to start instead of Garner in midfield just like against Villa.

Tete – Andersen – Bassey- Sessegnon

Berge – Lukic

Harry WilsonKing- Iwobi

  • Marco Silva reported no new injury concerns.

  • Daneil James and Gnoto are doubts according to Farke.
  • Farke on James and Gnonto: “Yes we have a few doubts for this game. Daniel James is obviously a major doubt, he is struggling with a hit in the core muscle so a major doubt also for this game. “Also, Willy Gnonto is a doubt, struggling with some calf problems. • Slot said – “All of them are fit now and I think I can maybe choose between 21 players, so that’s quite normal.”
  • This means that Curtis Jones, who has been sidelined with a muscle injury, could return with some minutes in the Merseyside Derby.
  • Although Frimpong and Isak started against Atletico Madrid in the UCL this week, it seems likely that Slot will start them on the bench this weekend as he plots a smooth transition into regular starting spots for the duo.

Silva – Rodri – Reijnders

Foden – Haaland – Doku

Man City Notes/Injury Update:

  • Guardiola claimed that he did not know whether Rodri would be available against Arsenal. However, in such an imperative game against one of their biggest rivals, it seems likely that Rodri will start the fixture regardless.
  • Guardiola said after Thursday’s UCL game against Napoli (via The Guardian): “We see day by day. Yesterday, for example, in the training session, he didn’t feel comfortable, he did not feel good, but said: ‘No, no, I’ll be fine tomorrow.’ And he played extraordinary. With him on the pitch we feel more comfortable, but of course after injury you have to be alert and we will decide on Sunday how he feels.”

Newcastle United

  • 4-3-3

Newcastle United Predicted lineup:

Pope

Livramento – Thiaw – Burn – Hall

Bruno – Tonali – Joelinton

Elanga – Woltemade- Barnes

Newcastle United Injury News/Notes:

  • Anthony Gordon will serve the last of this 3-game suspension he received after his red card against Liverpool in GW2.
  • Wissa will not play against Bournemouth and is expected to be out of action until the next international break, according to Howe.
  • Howe on Wissa: “It is impactful. Of course everyone wanted Yoane to be fit. There’s nothing personally I would have done different – we did everything we did as a football club to try and look after Yoane. But it’s like with any footballer – when they go away on international duty, you’re not in control of the minutes they play, and unfortunately, he got injured. “Now we just have to deal the best we can with that situation. We think he’ll be out until the next international break. He’s got a race on to be fit for that Brighton game. Hopefully he can make it, and then of course he’ll be such an important player for us.”
  • Jacob Ramsey remains injured and sidelined, with an expected return after next month’s international break.
  • Elanga is predicted to make another start this weekend after being praised by Howe for his performance against Barcelona in Europe.
  • Howe on Elanga – “I thought he did well. He was an absolute threat in the game. He’s put in a lovely cross for Anthony Gordon to have that chance early in the game. I think you could see his strengths – his pace, his direct running. I thought defensively and off the ball he was fine, and he’s acclimatising to that role that we ask him to do, so I’m very pleased with him.” “I think he’s going to be a very, very useful player for us this season, and certainly I think he’s made an impressive start and there’s a lot more to come.”
  • Schar has ruled out himself in his latest Instagram post. Thiaw should replace him.

Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest GW5 Predicted formation:

  • 4-2-3-1

Nottingham Forest GW5 Predicted lineup:

Sels

Williams – Milenkovic – Murilo – Zinchenko

Luiz – Anderson

Ndoye – Gibbs White – Hudson Odoi

Wood

Forest team news:

  • Murillo is a doubt for this weekend’s clash against Burnley after he was subbed off due to injury against Arsenal last weekend
  • Postecoglou on Murillo (via NY Times): “He is still a doubt. He did some individual work today and we will give him a little bit more time. He’s still a little bit sore. It’s just a matter of whether he can cope with it. We’ll make a late decision. Thankfully, it’s nothing too serious, so if he doesn’t make tomorrow, he should definitely be alright for Wednesday.”
  • If Murilo misses out, Morato should take his place.
  • Ola Aina is ruled out for 3 months with a hamstring injury Zinchenko should play this after being ineligible to play vs Arsenal.
  • Mcatee will be pushing for a start ahead of Ndoye. Bakwa is also an option to start.
  • Nicolas Dominguez ruled out until autumn after summer knee surgery.

Bueno – Agbadou- Toti

Jackson Tchatchoua – AndreJoao Gomes – Wolfe

  • Jose Sa is expected to return between the sticks for Wolves this weekend. He missed their last defeat to Newcastle due to illness and has now recovered.
  • Larsen is back after his Achilles tendon injury and is available for selection against Leeds. Although it’s unlikely that he will start, it seems he is set for some minutes on the pitch.
  • Pereira on Larsen, who recently signed a contract extension until 2030 (via Sky Sports News): “Very important (that his future is secured). If we want to increase our level, we need this kind of player. He’s not only about tactical and technical, but he’s about spirit and personality. He’s very important for us, and it is very good news for us.”
  • Pereira on Larsen’s fitness: “Yesterday, he (returned to) training with the team. I hope tomorrow he can help us, of course not for the 90 minutes, but for some period in the game. This is the information that I have from the medical department.”
