FPL GW10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

Palace Attackers

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.7m) – FWD, Crystal Palace – 15.4% TSB

Ismaila Sarr (£6.5m) – MID, Crystal Palace – 8.5% TSB

Palace Attack Numbers this season(Rank in League):

• Shots inside the box- 81 (5th)
• Big Chances- 32 (1st)
• xG- 18.32 (1st)

Mateta is back on the agenda of the FPL managers with a hattrick and 17 pointer against Bournemouth in GW8. He has good underlying numbers and is only behind Haaland for most of the metrics in the entire league.

Mateta Attack Rank among Forwards(This season):

• Shots- 2nd
• Shots on Target- 2nd
• Shots inside the box- 2nd
• Big Chances- 2nd
• xG- 2nd
• xGI- 2nd

Despite missing a couple of Gameweeks through injury, Sarr has been a productive FPL asset this season, scoring 40 points in 7 games. The Senegalese attacker scored 2 goals in Palace’s first 3 games of the season before being sidelined due to injury for GW4 and GW5.

He then returned with a goal against Liverpool, followed by an assist against Everton, scoring 11 points in GW6 and 7 points in GW7, respectively. While Sarr has blanked in his last 2 fixtures, it should be noted that they were difficult games against in-form sides Bournemouth and Arsenal, neither of which Oliver Glasner’s men managed to win.

Crystal Palace have a great run of fixtures between GW10 and GW15 – BRE(H), BHA(H), WOL(A), MUN(H), BUR(A), FUL(A) – so if you bring Sarr in this week, he should give you immediate returns. And with Eze’s departure to Arsenal, Sarr could replace him as Palace’s primary creator this term, making him a valuable and cheap differential option at £6.5m and 8.5% TSB.

Arsenal Defense

Gabriel Magalhaes (£6.4m) – DEF, Arsenal – 36.1% TSB

Julian Timber (£6.0m) – DEF, Arsenal – 23.2% TSB

Riccardo Calafiori (£5.8m) – DEF, Arsenal – 15.4% TSB

Arsenal continue to boast the best defense in the Premier League this season as well. After conceding the fewest number of goals in the league for the last 2 seasons, the Gunners have maintained that record so far this term as well.

Mikel Arteta’s men have conceded just 3 goals in 9 games this term and have registered the most number of clean sheets (6). From an FPL standpoint, Arsenal’s defenders have been the best by far, with 3 of their back 4 included in the top 5 highest scoring defenders in fantasy so far this term – Gabriel, Timber, and Calafiori.

While there is an argument to be had over which one to choose, especially between the full-backs or a center-back, any of these 3 Arsenal defenders would provide excellent ROI for your team and bring you a lot of points.

Even if you have one of them already, doubling up on Arsenal defenders would be a great idea, given their favorable run of fixtures against Burnley and Sunderland coming soon. We recommend buying Gabriel if you don’t already have him, since he has scored the most points of any defender this season (68).

He has a goal and an assist to his name, 6 clean sheets, and has earned DEFCON points in 3 games so far, demonstrating his ability to score points across the board.

FPL GW10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Viktor Gyokeres (£9.0m) – FWD, Arsenal – 22.3% TSB

Gyokeres is certainly a more expensive FPL asset. At 9m, the Arsenal forward is the 3rd most expensive forward in FPL this season. It could be argued that, at that price, with only 3 goals in 9 games, it doesn’t make sense to keep him in your team.

However, if you look at the stats, especially his shot and attempt stats, you can see that Gyokeres has been a consistent threat and is continuously looking to find the back of the net, even if he hasn’t scored as much as other forwards this season.

He has registered a Threat of 275, the 4th-highest among forwards this season. He has registered 19 shots, all of which were in the box, and 7 of which were on target. He has registered an xG of 3.51 and has had 6 big chances in the league so far this term.

With Arsenal’s upcoming fixtures offering great goal-scoring opportunities, we recommend holding on to Gyokeres ahead of GW10.

• On Target – 5th
• In the Box – 4th
• Big Chances – 4th
• xG – 5th

Iliman Ndiaye (£6.5m) – MID, Everton – 11.2% TSB

Ndiaye has been in good form for Everton this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 1 assist for the Toffees so far. He has registered an xGI of 4.5, the 5th-highest among midfieilders in FPL this term. Ndiaye has received DC points on 3 different occassions as well.

Although he has blanked in his last 2 games, Ndiaye is still a great attacking threat (see stats below). He’s shown good involvement in goal creation, with 7 of his 9 shots on target, 3 big chances created, and 13 key passes made.

And at just 6.5m, Ndiaye is an excellent midfield option managers should consider holding on to, especially with Everton’s run of fixtures. Their next fixture with an FDR higher than 3 is only in GW16 (against Chelsea), so Ndiaye should step up with a decent chunk of points in the near future.

FPL GW10 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Joao Pedro (£7.5m) – FWD, Chelsea – 52.9% TSB

Joao Pedro is the most transferred out player in FPL this Gameweek and is the 3rd-highest transferred out player this season so far, and for good reason. After a fantastic start to the campaign that saw him score 33 points in Chelsea’s first 4 games, Pedro has scored just 2 points per game between GW5 and GW9.

• 1 Shot inside the Box
• 0 Big Chances
• 0.07 xG
• 0.29 xA
• 0 Goal Involvements
• 10 FPL Points

His xG during that period has not exceeded a meager 0.04, showing how underwhelming he’s been in attack and a lack of goal involvement of late. He was expected to step up in injured Cole Palmer’s absence, and some leeway was given due to Chelsea’s turbulent run of games that saw an array of red cards.

However, it seems like the Brazilian has struggled to recover and has continued on a poor run of form. Although he is the most transferred out player, Pedro is still owned by a majority of FPL managers, with a TSB of 52.9%.

Managers are advised to sell Pedro ahead of GW10 and deploy those funds elsewhere. One option to consider is Newcastle’s Nick Woltemade, who has been in good goalscoring form since his switch to St.James’ Park this summer.

Virgil van Dijk (£6.0m) – DEF, Liverpool – 25.4% TSB

Liverpool have endured a poor slump in form recently, losing their last 4 Premier League games. The English champions are in a state of turmoil as they struggle to return to their best form. Arne Slot’s side have difficult games against Aston Villa and Manchester City in the next two gameweeks as well.

At 6m, Van Dijk is a premium defender who is far down the list in terms of total points scored by a defender in FPL this season, with 35 points under his belt. Liverpool have conceded 14 goals in 9 games so far, maintaining only 2 clean sheets.

It would be wise to sell Van Dijk amid Liverpool’s struggles and spend on either Arsenal defenders or other DEFCON monsters like Senesi, Lacroix, or Tarkowski ahead of GW10.

• Goals Conceded – 14 (15th)
• Shots Conceded – 100 (7th)
• Clean Sheets – 2 (Joint 10th)
• xCS – 3.17 (7th)
• Big Chances Conceded – 28 (19th)
