As we venture deeper into the heart of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) season, Gameweek 34 emerges as a pivotal moment on the calendar. With a cluster of teams including Liverpool, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Everton, Bournemouth, Wolves, and Sheffield United gracing the pitch twice, managers find themselves at a crucial crossroads. The allure of double fixtures often steals the spotlight but overlooking the potential of single-game week (SGW) teams can prove to be a costly oversight.
While the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal, and company brace for a frenetic doubleheader, the solo fixtures present their own tapestry of opportunity. Picture Manchester City locking horns with Brighton, or Manchester United facing off against the bottom-dwelling Sheffield United. Aston Villa’s clash with Bournemouth, Brentford’s encounter with Luton, and Burnley’s showdown with Sheffield United all promise their own share of FPL points.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Mohamed Salah (£13.5m) – MID, Liverpool – 39.2% TSB
The top choice for captaincy this week undoubtedly falls on Salah. Facing two teams situated in the lower half of the table, he presents a prime opportunity for points accumulation. In the previous encounters against these opponents, Salah secured an impressive 21 points overall.
Among MF, Salah is ranked: –
- 1st for Shots
- 1st for Shots on Target
- 1st for Shots in the Box
- 1st for Big Chances
- 1st for xG
- 1st for xGI
- 1st for Big Chances Created
Considering these statistics, Salah unquestionably merits the foremost consideration when drafting your team lineup.

“CRY” Babies
Michael Olise (£5.6m) – MID, Crystal Palace – 0.7% TSB
Eberechi Eze (£6.0m) – MID, Crystal Palace – 5.3% TSB
Jean-Philippe Mateta (£5.0m) – FWD, Crystal Palace – 2.5% TSB
Crystal Palace faces two of the shakiest defences in away games this week.

Under Oliver Glasner’s management, Crystal Palace has only been held scoreless once in seven matches, a run that included tough opponents such as Spurs, Manchester City, and Liverpool.
During this period, Mateta has shown his prowess, ranking fifth among forwards for expected goal involvement (xGI) as well as Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points.
Eze, coming off a strong performance with a 10-point return against title contenders Liverpool, further adds to Palace’s attacking potential.
Lastly, Olise significantly outperforms the other two players in terms of per-start statistics.

So, make your selection(s). My suggestion would be to avoid tripling up—it might be excessive.

FPL Gameweek 34 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) – MID, Man Utd – 11.2% TSB
Many managers are disregarding teams with only one match this week, but they do so at their own peril. The easiest fixture of this week is undoubtedly Manchester United versus Sheffield United, with both teams displaying poor defensive performances. Anticipate a goal extravaganza at Old Trafford.
SHU defence is ranked:-
- 20th for Clean Sheets
- 20th for Goals Conceded
- 20th for Shots on Target Conceded
- 19th for Big Chances Conceded
- 19th for NPxGC
- 19th for xCS
- 19th for xG Conceded
- 19th for Shots in Box Conceded
Looking beyond this week, Manchester United’s upcoming matches against Burnley at home and Crystal Palace away offer a promising run of fixtures.
- In the last 7 games, Fernandes has scored 54 points (team highest).
- His XGI during that time is more than double of his nearest teammate.
- The Portuguese midfielder had scored 19 points from these 3 reverse fixtures.
Therefore, I strongly recommend acquiring Bruno Fernandes.

Kai Havertz (£7.4m) – MID, Arsenal – 7.2% TSB
An unforeseen blank last GW has dampened the allure of Arsenal assets for this week. Nevertheless, it’s worth noting that Havertz’s recent blank was only his third since Gameweek 23.
Since Gameweek 23 and every following Gameweek, Havertz has emerged as the top-performing Arsenal attacker. Remarkably, this assessment includes the period when Saka was in exceptional form, racking up 56 points between Gameweeks 23 and 27. This underscores Havertz’s consistent excellence, even overshadowing Saka’s impressive performances during his peak.
FPL Points | Havertz | Saka |
Since GW 23 | 77 | 73 |
Since GW 24 | 73 | 64 |
Since GW 25 | 70 | 49 |
Since GW 26 | 58 | 34 |
Since GW 27 | 44 | 24 |
Since GW 28 | 30 | 17 |
Since GW 29 | 23 | 15 |
Since GW 30 | 23 | 15 |
Since GW 31 | 20 | 12 |
Since GW 32 | 15 | 12 |
Certain managers harbor concerns regarding Havertz’s expected minutes (xMins). Let’s also tackle this issue.
Mins | Havertz | Saka |
Since GW 23 | 855 | 658 |
Since GW 24 | 765 | 579 |
Since GW 25 | 675 | 512 |
Since GW 26 | 591 | 443 |
Since GW 27 | 515 | 367 |
Since GW 28 | 425 | 322 |
Since GW 29 | 335 | 232 |
Since GW 30 | 335 | 232 |
Since GW 31 | 245 | 184 |
Since GW 32 | 179 | 154 |
The aim of this analysis isn’t to criticize Saka. If feasible, consider acquiring both Saka and Havertz, as Arsenal will be eager to rebound from their loss to Aston Villa and delay Manchester City’s title celebration.
The primary goal here is to offer assistance if you find yourself needing to choose between Arsenal attackers due to budget limitations, limited attacker slots, or if you’re opting for a double Arsenal defense strategy, among others.
Hold on to Havertz for this Double Gameweek.

Cristian Romero (£5.2m) – DEF, Spurs – 10.3% TSB
Tottenham is the sole team blanking this week, but that’s not the sole reason for my recommendation to sell Romero. Spurs face a daunting fixture schedule in the upcoming weeks.
While their attackers might manage to navigate through this challenging period, their defense doesn’t inspire much confidence.
Since GW10, Spurs defence is ranked:
- 19th for Clean Sheets
- 18th for Big Chances Conceded
- 18th for Shots from Set Pieces Conceded
- 17th for Shots from Headers Conceded
- 17th for xCS
- 17th for NPxGC
Therefore, it’s advisable to sell Romero.

Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) – GKP, West Ham – 25.6% TSB
The goalkeeper with the highest ownership is also experiencing the highest rate of transfers out this Gameweek, and there are significant factors contributing to this trend.
Areola has been sidelined since sustaining a groin injury during the defeat to Newcastle at the end of the previous month. The timeline for the Frenchman’s return remains uncertain. Moreover, even upon his potential return, he will be confronted with a notably challenging series of fixtures.
West Ham United has managed just four clean sheets this season, with a notable hat-trick of clean sheets in Gameweeks 18-20. However, this achievement appears to be more of an anomaly than a consistent trend, as the Hammers’ defense has been hammered (excuse the pun 😊) repeatedly.
Considering these factors, it would be prudent to carefully contemplate parting ways with Areola.
