FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold & Sell

The long wait was over as we had an exciting round of 10 games post the last international break. Quite a few important results including the goalless stalemate between Man City and Arsenal, Newcastle’s amazing turnaround, Salah and Son scoring while Haaland blanking yet again.

When it rains it pours. We didn’t have an FPL deadline in 14 days. Now we have 2 in 4 days.

So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

Mohamed Salah (£13.3m) – MID, Liverpool – 32.1% TSB

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Salah

The standout captain option for this week, Salah should be your priority purchase. One of the most (if not the most) dangerous attacker against the weakest team in the league at home…this doesn’t get better than this.

Among MF, Salah is ranked:-

  • 1st for Shots on Target
  • 1st for Shots in the Box
  • 1st for Big Chances
  • 1st for xG
  • 1st for xGI
  • 1st for Goals
  • 1st for Goal Involvements
  • 1st for Big Chances Created

SHU defence is ranked:-

  • 20th for Clean Sheets
  • 20th for Goals Conceded
  • 20th for Shots Conceded
  • 20th for Shots on Target Conceded
  • 19th for Big Chances Conceded
  • 19th for NPxGC
  • 19th for xCS
  • 19th for xG Conceded
  • 19th for Shots in Box Conceded

If you have 1 FT, buy Salah. If you have already exhausted your FT, buy Salah on a hit. He has already risen in price THRICE from his GW30 price. I feel he will increase at least once more before GW31. Salah also has a confirmed Double Gameweek 34 vs Fulham(A), Everton(A).

Bukayo Saka (£9.0m) – MID, Arsenal – 58.9% TSB

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Saka

If Salah is the standout captain, Saka isn’t too far behind. Arsenal faces Luton at home. Arsenal knows very well that they can’t afford to slip up especially after the result in GW30 against Manchester City. Saka is the talisman not just for Arsenal, but also in the league.

Among MF, Saka is ranked:-

  • 1st for FPL Points
  • 1st for xA
  • 2nd for xG
  • 2nd for Shots in the Box
  • 2nd for xGI
  • 2nd for Goal Involvements
  • 2nd for BPS
  • 3rd for Bonus
  • 3rd for Shots
  • 3rd for Big Chances
  • 4th for Goals Scored
  • 4th for Big Chances Created
  • 4th for Assists

LUT defence is ranked:-

  • 18th for Clean Sheets
  • 18th for Goals Conceded
  • 19th for Shots Conceded
  • 20th for Big Chances Conceded
  • 20th for NPxGC
  • 20th for xCS
  • 20th for xG Conceded
  • 20th for Shots in Box Conceded
  • 20th for Shots from Set Pieces Conceded

The last one is of added importance, as Saka is the preferred penalty and corner taker for Arsenal. So Saka can give handsome returns this week.

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Phil Foden (£8.1m) – MID, Manchester City – 32.2% TSB

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Foden

A lot of managers are left frustrated with Foden’s two consecutive blanks. In fact amidst those successive monstrous hauls against Man Utd and Bournemouth, Foden has blanked in 5 out of the last 7 games.

However, Foden’s amazing fixture starts from this GW. He will mostly not blank in GW34 and likely to double in GW37 vs Fulham(A), Spurs(A).

Foden’s next 3 opponents- Big Chances conceded/90 Rank since GW16:

  • Luton Town- 20th
  • Crystal Palace- 15th
  • Aston Villa- 13th

Among his Man City colleagues, he has scored the highest FPL points and played the highest no. of mins as well.

So hold Foden.

Jordan Pickford (£4.6m) – GKP, Everton – 11.7% TSB

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Pickford

Although Pickford faces the high scoring Newcastle in GW31, a point to note is that in the reverse fixture in GW15, Pickford managed a Clean Sheet and walked away with 7 points.

Key Stat: Pickford averages 4.25 saves/game over the last 4 Gameweeks- 4th Highest among all GKs during this time.

Everton has an extremely appealing fixture list beyond GW31 with a confirmed DGW in 34.

You might want to use your FTs (and hits) elsewhere.

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Alfie Doughty (£4.7m) – DEF, Luton – 12.3% TSB

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Doughty

Between GW15-22, Doughty was the highest scoring defender which led to his price increase twice.

However, in the next 9 GWs Doughty scored only 18 points. He now faces a nightmarish fixture run when he faces Arsenal and Man City – all away from home.

Post that the fixtures ease out remarkably well. So, it is recommended that you sell Doughty this GW and bring him back in GW34.

Ollie Watkins (£8.9m) – FWD, Aston Villa – 52.3% TSB

FPL Gameweek 31 Transfer Tips: Watkins

In our last article we had mentioned to hold Watkins one last time before selling him in GW31. And now you know why. The fixtures turn bad for Aston Villa as they face two of the three title contenders away from home.

Watkins not only blanked in GW30 but also lasted just 45 minutes after picking up an injury.

So he is a hard sell this week for someone like Isak or Darwin.
