FPL GW28 Tips – Key Questions/Dilemmas Answered
1) How many DGW28 players to have this week?
We have a Double Gameweek in GW28. Bournemouth and Luton have a double gameweek this week. The fixtures are as follows:
Double Gameweek 28
✅ BOU vs SHU(H), LUT(H)
✅ LUT vs CRY (A), BOU (A)
Looking at the above fixtures, it makes sense to load up on Bournemouth and Luton for their Double in GW28, especially if you are Free-Hitting in GW29. You can attack the fixtures in GW28 without having to worry about the GW29 blank. You can load up your team with 3-4 players, depending on how many transfers you have available for this week.
In case you are not Free-Hitting, you can get in 2-3 players from Bournemouth and Luton. Depending on your other players, you can decide whether to sell or keep the Bournemouth players for next week, as they blank in GW29.
Both strategies can work, and it’s difficult to pinpoint which is the best right now. It depends on whether you use your ‘Free Hit’ in GW29!

2) Who are the best Bournemouth/Luton players to buy this week?
Bournemouth is a great team to target this week as they face Sheffield United and Luton, who are pretty leaky in the back. Dominic Solanke is expected to be fit to start both games for Bournemouth, and he is my no. 1 recommendation this week. This season, he is ranked 3rd for ‘Goals scored’ and ‘FPL points‘. The fixtures for Bournemouth are really good from an attacking sense, and Solanke is a must-have this week.
Despite Bournemouth’s fixtures being really good, I am still struggling to choose a 2nd Bournemouth attacker. Marcus Tavernier comes to mind, but he hasn’t returned since GW20. If you want to double up on the Bournemouth attack, you can go with him and put yourself in a position to get lucky.
Instead, you can go for one of their defenders. Bournemouth ranks 7th for xGC (expected goals conceded) in the last 5 GWs. Plus, they face SHU and LUT this week, and clean sheets are possible.
After Marcos Senesi picked up an injury last week, Illia Zabarnyi is the standout pick at the back. He has started every game for Bournemouth this season and is a very safe option in defense.
Luton players play two away games this week. If you are not Free-hitting in GW29, they can be prioritised this week. Defensively, Luton is leaky, but Alfie Doughty is still a good pick. He ranks 1st among all defenders for ‘Goal Involvements’ in the last 10 gameweeks.
Like Bournemouth, I think there are no standout options in Luton’s midfield, but if I had to choose one, I’d go for Ross Barkley. He is cheap, costing only £5.0m, and is a nailed starter in the Luton team. He is one of the chief creators on the team, and you can get some decent points from him.
You can even skip Barkley and go for Luton striker Carlton Morris instead. He has looked solid up front and has 9 attacking returns (5G+4A) in his last 9 appearances. He has been involved in 48% of all goals in the games he has started. Plus, he also has a fixture in the Blank Gameweek in GW29.

3) What should we do with Man City players?
Man City faces Liverpool this week, and it’s expected to be a close game. Plus, they are blanking in GW29 and then face Arsenal in GW30. Many managers are contemplating whether to hold/sell them this week.
If, for some reason, you are stuck with a Man City defender (no matter who), I’d recommend selling them for a Bournemouth/Luton, depending on your ‘Free Hit’ chip strategy. There are points to be gained here!
Coming to the more tricky picks like Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden. It’s not straightforward, but I can understand selling KDB. I own him myself and have yet to get value for the buck I have spent. KDB can do well in any game, but this is undoubtedly a window to attack the Double GW28 this week or do some planning with getting a Son in case you are saving your Free Hit for later. Foden, for me, is still a keep. He is in good form and is on an excellent goal-scoring run.
Erling Haaland is even more difficult to call. There is not a very strong case to sell him, especially if you are Free-Hitting in GW29. The other direction is basically going a bit aggressive and getting players like Solanke and Morris to attack the double this week. I am personally keeping him as I am likely to Free-Hit in GW29.

4) Who are the best Marcos Senesi replacements?
Marcos Senesi picked up a hamstring injury against Burnley in GW27. He’s likely to be ruled out for the short term and will be unavailable for Bournemouth’s Double this week. Hence, replacing him with a different defender option this week makes sense.
Arsenal defenders Gabriel and Saliba are still the pick of the lot, especially if you are Free-Hitting in GW29. Arsenal has the highest number of clean sheets this season, and both Gabriel and Saliba have scored goals from set pieces. A double-up is also a great strategy to double the advantage here.
If you already have the Arsenal defenders and are looking to maximise the Double in GW28, you can look at Zabarnyi from Bournemouth and Doughty from Luton. Don’t expect clean sheets from either, but they can provide you with some attacking returns. Doughty also plays in GW29 and gives you an additional player for that blank gameweek.
Tottenham and Aston Villa are decent teams and do have a game in GW29. While they may not be the best options this week, you can definitely target Udogie from Tottenham or even Torres/Konsa from Aston Villa.
That will be all from my side for this week! I wish you all the best for FPL Gameweek 28, and I will see you all next week.
