For the first time since GW9 and GW10, we have two consecutive GWs where the average score was above 55. And now, FPL Gameweek 25 deadline is upon us – the first DGW of the season. This is the GW where a lot of chips will be played, and time will be ripe to separate the contenders from the pretenders. It’s the business end of FPL 23-24.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL GW24 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Erling Haaland (£14.4m) – FWD, Man City – 71.4% TSB
The Norse God is back just in time. Well, he has been back for a couple of GWs now, but any concerns over his rustiness before the big DGW has been put to rest by his dominating performance against Everton where he racked up his first double digit haul since GW12.
Haaland faces Chelsea and Brentford both at home in GW25 – both of which are in the Bottom 5 in terms of goals conceded in the last 7 GWs. Haaland is the leading scorer in EPL with 16 goals despite missing 5 matches. In the combined reverse fixtures, Haaland had amassed 21 points with 2 goals and 2 assists.
Buy Haaland as your priority. He will be popular captaincy choice (might even get the most TC in the history of FPL).

Kevin De Bruyne (£10.8m) – MID, Man City – 31.4% TSB
Kevin De Bruyne has not blanked ever since his return from injury. Since GW21, among MIDs, KDB ranks: –
- 1st for goal involvements
- 1st for assists
- 2nd for Big Chances Created
With Haaland back in full strength, KDB can plunder a big haul in the DGW.
The big advantage of Man City over the other big team who double this GW – Liverpool, is that the Citizens don’t blank in GW26. Also, with Salah doubtful, and both him and Son blanking in GW26, fitting in De Bruyne as the 2nd premium asset will not be too tough for the purse.

FPL GW25 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Pervis Estupiñán (£5.0m) – DEF, Brighton & Hove Albion – 26.6% TSB
Just 1 point in the last 3 games has led to more than 70,000 managers selling the Ecuadorian. However, Estupiñán faces Sheffield United this GW.
Sheffield United are toothless in the attack:
- 20th for xG
- 20th for xGNP
- 20th for xG Open Play
- 20th for Big Chances Created
- 20th for Shots
- 20th for Shots on Target
- 20th for Shots in the Box
- 20th for Goals Scored
Sheffield United are equally horrendous in the defence:
- 20th for xG Conceded
- 20th for xG On Target Conceded
- 20th for Clean Sheets
- 20th for Shots Conceded
- 20th for Shots in Box Conceded
- 20th for Shots on Target Conceded
- 20th for Goals Conceded
Estupiñán has the potential to haul at both ends of the field in GW25. Even beyond GW25, his medium-term fixtures look very good.
So, HOLD Estupiñán.

Ollie Watkins (£8.7m) – FWD, Aston Villa – 50.3% TSB
- Ollie Watkins is the second-highest-scoring player in FPL.
- Ollie Watkins is the second-highest transferred-out player this GW.
As oxymoronic as it may sound, this is the ground reality. Surprisingly he has not played bad at all. In fact, his 27 points in the last 3 GWs is bettered only by Saka, Foden, and Adebayo.
In the next 3 GWs, Aston Villa faces teams that are in the Bottom Half of the table. Whereas Aston Villa themselves are in the Top 6 in terms of xG.
At a combined level, Fulham, Forest and Luton have conceded 128 goals in 71 matches keeping only 11 Clean Sheets
So, I would recommend you to hold Watkins for the medium term.

FPL GW 25 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Chelsea Assets except Cole Palmer
In the last 9 GWs, Chelsea had a dream fixture list:
Palmer scored 64 points in 8 of these matches (missing the game against CRY (H)). The second-highest scorer for Chelsea in this period was Petrović with 31 points.
Such was the huge difference in points between Palmer and the rest of the Blues.
Now the fixtures turn for Chelsea and they are ranked 20th in terms of FDR for
- Next GW
- Next 2 GWs
- Next 3 GWs
- Next 4 GWs
- Next 5 GWs
- Next 6 GWs
- Next 7 GWs
- Next 8 GWs
- Next 9 GWs
- Next 10 GWs
- Next 11 GWs
Palmer is probably the only Chelsea asset who you want to keep. I suggest you sell everyone else.

Alexander Isak (£7.5m) – FWD, Newcastle – 11.7% TSB
Isak is injured and doesn’t have a fixed return date as per Howe.
Wilson is back in the starting line up (although with a minor uncertainty). £7.5m is too big a sum to hold onto especially when that price range is in high demand. So, sell Isak to arrange fund for Darwin ahead of the DGW.
Note: Blog was written before the TAA news, Trent is now ruled for DGW25 and he’s also an easy sell as Liverpool will blank in GW26 and potentially in GW29 too!
