FPL GW19 Scout Picks – Defenders
Trent Alexander Arnold currently costs £8.3m in FPL, which seems a bit expensive, but he has been in great form very well justifying that price tag. His numbers when compared between GW1-9 vs GW10-18 tell the same story. In the last seven games he has registered 2 goals and 3 assists, against Palace in GW16 he picked up 2 bonus points despite not registering a goal/assist/clean sheet.
In the last six games, TAA(2.63) has the 2nd highest xGI amongst defenders, Liverpool are also 3rd for xGC during the period(6.79) conceding only 6 goals in the last six games.
TAA assisted Salah’s goal vs Arsenal and in the 2nd half, he was close to scoring from a Salah assist but in the end hit the post denying him a huge haul!
Matchup: Burnley have conceded the most xG from set play(7.9), whereas Liverpool have the 4th highest xG from set play so far this season(7.23). TAA could benefit from the set play matchup!
Pedro Porro is the only defender to outdo TAA in terms of attacking output(xGI) in the last six games which in itself tells the quality of Porro. In the last six games, he has the most touches inside the box amongst defenders(21), most shots(16), most shots inside the box(12), and the 2nd most chances created(17)
Trippier has been struggling for the last few games but a home game against Nottingham Forest is hard to ignore. In nine home games, Newcastle have conceded only 4 goals keeping 6 clean sheets(highest in the league). Their xGC(7.0) is also the 2nd lowest in the league(Home games only)
His attacking output in the last six games seems to be decent, 3rd for xGI amongst defenders(2.6), 2nd for chances created(17), 1st for xA(1.84).
Newcastle have the joint highest odds of a clean sheet(48%) based on clean sheet odds from DraftHound
He has a great matchup against Nottingham Forest who have conceded more chances in their right flank(59) than their left flank(48) & central zone(57) so far this season.
Nottingham Forest have also conceded a whopping 220 crosses from their right flank which is the 3rd highest amongst all teams so far this season.

Burnley have conceded the highest amongst of goals at home(22), and 2nd for their big chances conceded(26) and their only clean sheet at home came against Sheffield United!
Son and Richarlison both feature in the scout picks this week, both were amongst the goals vs Everton. Brighton have conceded more chances in their left flank(52) and central zone(50) than their right flank(39) so far this season. Solanke has been the FPL star over the last few games, he has scored 7 goals in the last six games during a period in which Bournemouth are unbeaten having won 5 of their last six games. In the last six gameweeks Solanke’s xGI of 4.24 is the highest amongst all players despite their GW18 game being voided in which he scored a goal!

Pochettinho has talked about easing in Nkunku but with Palmer and Sterling both suspended for GW19 Nkunku should make his first PL start after returning from injury!
Julian Alvarez wraps up the scout picks this week, with Haaland still an injury concern Alvarez will be the main man for Man City. He picked up a brace in the Club World Cup final and is in good touch!
