As we approach FPL GW 15, it’s time to get started with this season’s FPL cup. Every year the FPL Cup is played from GW16 till the end of the season where one manager out of the close to 10 million-odd FPL managers ends up winning the FPL Cup.
The top 8,388,608 ranked managers in Gameweek 15 will be entered into the first round of the cup in Gameweek 16. The final will be contested in Gameweek 38.

All you need to know about the 23/24 FPL Cup
What is the FPL Cup?
FPL Cup is an FA cup equivalent for Fantasy Premier League, where managers are drawn randomly against each other from GW16 with the one scoring the most points amongst the two proceeding to the next round. While the one who scores the least is simply out of the cup and has to try his/her luck next season.
How to qualify for the FPL Cup?
The 23/24 FPL cup draw is made based on the GW14 performances. Read it again in order to qualify. Only the FPL GW14 score will be considered and not the entire season score!
If you had a good GW14 score you might have earned a bye just like me.
Any managers who got 51 points or fewer in Gameweek 14 will be playing in the first round. Anyone who got at least 53 points in Gameweek 14 has received a bye to the second round, in Gameweek 16.
Some of the managers who got 52 points will play in the first round, while others have got a bye.
How is the 23/24 FPL cup draw made?
All the qualifying teams will be put in a draw and randomly drawn against another in the first round. The team having maximum points minus any hits(negative transfers), will progress to the second round. Again another random draw will take place. This process continues until the final round when the two remaining teams contest the cup final.
How many rounds are played?
The 2023/24 FPL Cup begins from GW15 and goes on till GW38, you’ll proceed further only if you win against your opponent each week.
Will I be able to check my FPL Cup opponents?
You’ll be able to check your opponent’s team and transfer history. But the transfers made and captain for that GW won’t be known until the GW deadline is passed. Fair play is essential guys😛.
2023/24 FPL CUP Rules and key things to know:
- Scoring is similar to the regular GW scoring, there’s absolutely no change to the scoring format. One less problem😅
- If suppose there is a tie in the points between two teams then two scoring factors come into the picture. Most Goals scored, Least goals conceded.
- If the teams are tied for goals scored then the team conceding the least goals will progress
- But if the teams are still tied then there is an unlucky situation that cannot be controlled by any of us. The FPL website will have a virtual coin toss to determine the winner. It seems unfair, right?
How to win the FPL CUP 2023/24?
Winning the FPL cup is a tough task and even the experienced FPL players find it difficult to crack the best gameplan to win it. But with strategic planning and a little bit of luck, you can definitely pull this off and become the FPL CUP 2023/24 winner.
- Analyze your opponents early. FPL allows you to see your opponent’s team, scoring, transfer, and captain history over the GW’s.
- Look at your opponent scoring history and transfers. Chances are that you might be against dead teams( teams not making a transfer for a long time, who might have stopped playing FPL altogether this season).
- Decide your captains based on form, don’t make a wild captain pick since it is very essential for your captain to return attacking points for you to progress.
- In the case of a tie, the first thing to be compared is the number of goals scored. Remember always to go attack heavy which enhances the goal-scoring possibilities
- In case, your opponent’s team is nearly similar to yours then transfer in some nice differential options based on the form which will help you outscore your opponent.
- Always have a solid bench just in case few of your players are benched then the need for players to come off the bench is absolutely crucial. Make sure you have points from 11 players at the end of GW. Every point matters.
- If you advance to the later stages, go all in and use your wildcard or any of the chips to try and force your way through to the next round.
What are the new addition to the FPL Cup from the 2023/24 season?
This year in addition to the overall FPL Cup, FPL have added a couple of other cup formats to make it more exciting and interesting for managers. Here are the new cup formats available in FPL from the 2023/24 FPL season.
- Mini league FPL cup
- Country FPL cup
- Supporters Club FPL cup
- Broadcasters FPL cup
How to be eligible for the above-mentioned FPL cups?
To be eligible for the mini-league cup ask your league administrator to enable the FPL Cup for the mini-league in his league administrator settings.
Here’s how you can enable the mini-league FPL cup
- Go to leagues and cups(https://fantasy.premierleague.com/leagues)
- Click on the settings option of the mini-league
- Click on the setting option and click the administer option(You’ll have administer option only if you are the administrator of the league, if you’re not ask the current administrator to make you an administer)
- Check the Create League Cup checkbox and ensure it’s ticked and then save it
The start of the mini-league cup will depend on the number of entries in the mini-league

How to join the other FPL cups?
The other cups are auto joined and you don’t need to do anything. The cup begins on different gameweeks starting from FPL GW15 depending on the number of people in the country, club, and broadcaster leagues. The more managers earlier the cup begins. Here is when the Man United FPL Cup begins.

The 2019/20 FPL Cup was won by Malaysian manager, Uncle Ji who’s team xdoktenetxdeycaro won it after nine consecutive virtual coin tosses after the regular GW30 to GW38 were called off due to COVID-19 and the FPL season restarted with GW’s being termed as FPL GW30+ so on till GW38+. Uncle Ji’s team name translates to no internet, no time to update in English!
