FPL GW16 Scout Picks
FPL GW16 Scout Picks – Goalkeeper
Ederson and Man City have not been consistently keeping Clean sheets this season and in fact, have only one CS in the last eight games. However, during the period their xGC of 9.1 & big chances conceded(14) is still the 3rd lowest in the league.
Also in the last eight games, Luton have the lowest xG(5.85) and big chances(10) amongst all teams.
In GW16, Man City travel to Luton and their fixture has the highest odds of a clean sheet this week amongst all teams(60%). With no other standout GK option for this week, we go with Ederson as our GK in our FPL GW16 scout picks

FPL GW16 Scout Picks – Defenders
Trent Alexander Arnold now has 2 goals and 3 assists in the last three games and has in fact not blanked in the last four games starting from FPL GW12. The excellent run of attacking and defensive form is expected to continue as Liverpool are up against a struggling Palace side.
The matchup is strongly in favor of Trent Alexander Arnold with Palace conceding the second most crosses(188) amongst all teams so far this season. Most of their chances are also conceded through the right flank(53) which is more than the other zones – Center(33) and left (39) so far this season.
Defensively as well there is a good clean sheet potential for TAA with Palace scoring only 7 goals in the last six games(3rd lowest in the league), Liverpool also have the joint 2nd highest odds of a clean sheet this week(42%)
Ben Mee is the next defender in our scout picks with the Bees having the 4th highest chance of a clean sheet this week(40%). Ben Mee also has an exciting headed matchup against Sheffield United.
The Blades have conceded 48 shots from Headers this season which is the 3rd highest among all the teams in the league. Their set play xGC(6.2) and goal attempts from set play conceded(74) are also the third highest in the league(6.2). Brentford meanwhile are 3rd for headed attempts(44) and 5th for headed goals so far this season.
Toti wraps up the defensive options in the FPL GW16 scout picks, Wolves are up against a struggling Nottingham Forest side who have registered only an xG of 5.42 in the last six games which is the 3rd lowest in the league. Wolves meanwhile have the joint 4th highest odds of a clean sheet(40%) this week

FPL GW16 Scout Picks – Midfielders
Salah is the Top midfield pick for yet another week up against Crystal Palace. Salah has blanked only thrice in 15 games this season. He also comes second in our Captaincy Metrics– Only behind Haaland. Salah has scored 10 goals, 6 assists and leads the overall FPL Points tally with 114 points. Salah tops the xG and Big Chances stats among midfielders and his assist potential is also highlighted as he is Top for Big chances created(13) in the entire league.
Salah will be up against a Palace side who are not in great form. After keeping 4 clean sheets in the first 8 games, Palace have kept only one clean sheet in the next 7 games conceding 16 goals in the process(More than 2 goals/game). They also have only one win from their last 8 games. Another important thing that works in Salah’s favour is Palace first choice left back Mitchell is ruled out of GW16 with a hip injury. It will be a tough ask for the 32 year Clyne who has just started one league game this season to contain the in-form Salah.
Bowen up against Fulham(A) is the next pick. At the moment, away from home Bowen is the best midfield FPL pick. He has returned in every away game this season and his underlying numbers are also too good.
Bowen Stats in Away games this season(Rank among midfielders):
- Matches- 7
- Shots- 20(1st)
- Shots on Target- 10(1st)
- Shots inside the Box- 15(1st)
- Big Chances- 7(1st)
- Non-Penalty xG- 3.85(1st)
- Goals- 7(Joint 1st)
- FPL Points/Appearance- 8.14(1st)
Hwang Hee Chan up against Forest is the next pick. Since GW7, Hwang has 5 goals, 2 assists from 9 games getting 54 points. Only Salah has more points than Hwang among midfielders during this time.
He will up against a Nottingham Forest side who are low in confidence after loosing 5-0 to Fulham in GW15 and have conceded the joint most number of goals(12) in the last four GWs. Read more about Hwang in our GW16 Differentials article.
Saka wraps up the midfield in the GW16 Scout Picks. Saka has blanked only twice out of 14 games(5 goals, 8 assists) he has played this season. Saka is 2nd for Expected assists this season- Only behind Trippier. Arsenal are up against Villa in GW16 which is a tough game, but Villa’s high line and attacking tactics could work well for Arsenal attackers- Especially for Saka and Martinelli who can run into the spaces.

FPL GW16 Scout Picks – Forwards
Haaland has 14 goals, and 5 assists from 15 games this season and comfortably tops all the underlying data like xG, Big Chances, and Shots inside the box. Haaland did blank in GW15 and would love to looking to make amends against a Luton side who are one of the worst defensive sides in the league. Luton have the worst xGC in the league and have conceded 53 Big chances from 15 games which is the second highest in the league.
His presence in the scout picks needs no further justification. He is our captain choice in our FPL GW16 Scout Selection as he also tops our FPL GW16 Captaincy Metrics.
Wissa can be a good differential(8.3% owned) to get ahead of this fixture against Sheffield United. With no Toney and Mbeumo, the onus will be on Wissa to get the goals for the Bees. Sheffield United have conceded 41 goals from 15 games this season conceding close to 3 goals/game.
Matchup alert: Sheffield United have conceded 62 chances down the center this season- 2nd highest among all the teams in the league. Wissa would love this matchup and get back his goal scoring form. With Mbeumo ruled out, Wissa could be on penalties as well.
