FPL GW2 Scout Picks

FPL GW2 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper

Forest did lose 2-1 to Arsenal in GW1 but they did make things harder for Arsenal and made them work for their goals. Forest are up against Sheffield United in GW2 where they could fancy a clean sheet. In GW1, Sheffield United had only one Shot on Target and recorded zero big chances along with an xG of 0.13 which was the lowest among all teams in GW1.

Forest are also a much better team at home as they conceded only 24 goals at home last season compared to 44 goals away. If you own Turner along with Johnstone/Pickford/Onana we would still suggest you to start Turner this week!

Turner might also be a good transfer IN if you don’t have other fires to put out and don’t want to roll the transfer as he rotates well with other 4.5 million keepers.

FPL GW2 Scout Picks- Defenders

Stats from Fantasy Football Hub– Subscribe to a 50% discount here

The defense is filled with attacking defenders also with good fixtures as well- Estupinan, Chilwell and Henry. In fact, all these 3 players were Top for Expected Goal Involvement among Defenders for GW1.

Estupinan is a must-own player at the moment. In GW1, Estupinan was Top among Defenders for almost all the attacking metrics- Shots(3), Shots on Target(2), xA(1.02), xGI(1.30), Key Passes(6), Big Chances created(2).

Chilwell was so good attack wise in GW1 and should be one of your Top transfer targets for GW2 if you don’t own him yet. If you are looking to replace John Stones/Timber/Mings and have the money, it is a no-brainer. After this Chelsea have 2 home fixtures to Luton Town and Forest as well.

Despite having a goal ruled out for offside, Chilwell had impressive underlying numbers- 0.46 xG, 0.46 xA, 2 big chance involvements. He did get an assist and 2 bonus points as well. Chilwell(No.21) was very attacking almost playing like a second striker as seen in the image below-

Rico Henry got an assist in GW1, could have got more. He is just owned by 3.4% of Total FPL managers and features in our FPL GW2 Differentials article. Do check it out for a detailed analysis on the Brentford left back!

FPL GW2 Scout Picks- Midfielders

Salah takes up the Captaincy in our Scout Selection. Salah got an an assist, 5 points and was substituted after just 76 minutes. But it could have been a different story as his goal was ruled out for offside by the barest of margins. 5 pointer would have become a 13 point haul!

Matchup alert- Bournemouth conceded 43 goals from 19 away games last season. Only Forest(44) conceded more goals away from home.

Salah was also not happy at being withdraw after 76 minutes. He will looking to prove a point. So if you own Salah, there is a strong case to captain him ahead of Haaland if you are willing to take the risk.

Maddison took only game to prove his worth at Spurs. It was exactly the kind of player they were missing all these days- The creative influence and the playmaker role. Maddison got 2 assists in the 2-2 draw. He could be a template player soon!

Only Eze(7) created more chances than Maddison(6) among midfielders in GW1. Maddison also had 2 shots, recorded 0.8 xGI and got 2 assists in his 9 point haul in GW1.

Maddison is also on all the corners and set pieces for Spurs which as indicative in GW1.

Rashford did have a disappointing outing in GW1 and United didn’t look at their best at all. We are still backing Rashford to perform in GW2 based on last season’s form and Spurs defense. Rashford had 13 goals, 5 assists from 21 games post the World Cup last season. Only Haaland and Kane had more goals during this period and only Haaland had a better xG.

Spurs did look shaky in defense in GW1 and also generally concede lots of chances on their right and center which should work well for Rashford.

Mbeumo is the final midfielder in the FPL GW2 Scout Picks article. Mbeumo scored the penalty in the 2-2 draw vs Spurs and got 7 points. He should have had another goal as he missed a sitter. Read more about Mbeumo in our FPL GW2 Differential Picks article.

FPL GW2 Scout Picks – Forwards

Haaland is a must-own every week on Scout Picks as it is simply difficult to bet against the who is owned by 90.8% of all FPL Managers. He did punish the minority who went against him in GW1 with 2 goals and 13 points.

He just misses out on the Captaincy arm-band in our Scout Picks team as City played against Sevilla in midweek at Greece. Haaland also played 90 minutes in that tough game and may be a little tired. Stay tuned for our Captaincy Metrics article to decide for yourself in the Salah vs Haaland Captaincy debate.

Watkins got an assist vs Newcastle in GW1 and has two good fixtures up next- Everton(H) and Burnley(A). Everton are poor away from home and had the 2nd worst Away xGC in the league last season only behind Leeds. Watkins also had two great outings vs Everton last season as seen in below image. Everything is pointing towards a big haul for Watkins vs Everton in GW2.

Nketiah is the final pick in our FPL GW2 Scout Picks team. Nketiah played 72 minutes in GW1- Got a goal, had 3 shots inside the box, got 2 bonus points as well. He is a good differential pick- Still at <5% TSB. Arsenal also have a good GW3 fixture vs Fulham(H), so he could well be a good 2 week punt.

Arteta also heaped heavy praise on Nketiah after the 2-1 win over Forest which suggests that he is likely to start again in GW1 ahead of Trossard. Arteta on Nketiah- “Eddie Nketiah was really disappointed that I did not pick him for the Community Shield, but he trained like a beast this week. He made it impossible for me not to choose him this week. He is a great example.”

  1. I have Eze in atm before GW2 deadline, but he has a tough run of fixtures, he looked good against Sheff U but his fixtures arent easy in the next couple weeks.

So should I just bench him for the Arsenal game, brining on Joao Pedro?

Or should I do a straight swap transfer for Diaby or Mbemo

  2. Play him…he’ll always be threat to any team and he plays penalties.

Crystal Palace is difficult at home….Arsenal will sure struggle.
