GW33 proved to be a high scoring one with the most popular captain choice Haaland returning 14 points in a 4-1 win over title rivals Arsenal. This time around Haaland has a double gameweek and so do Salah, Rashford, and Bruno Fernandes. FPL GW34 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
Haaland as expected tops the captaincy poll for FPL DGW34 with over 1000 votes. Mo Salah is a distant second with 13% of the votes and the top five is completed by Rashford, KDB, and Jota. Jota is making his first captaincy metrics appearance this season.

Underlying Numbers of the FPL Gameweek 34 Captain picks
Haaland has over 6 xG(6.21) in the last six games with a whopping 11 big chances during the period. The next best is Salah with an xG of 3.55 in the last six games. Interestingly Salah and Jota both have the same number of big chances(6) in the last six games. Rashford is fourth with an xG of 2.95 in the last six games but he has had the second-best big chances amongst all players during the period(9). KDB is more of a creator with 17 chances created in the last six games. However, he’s last in this table as his xG is low when compared with the other four attackers.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidate’s Teams
Liverpool(66) and Man United(66) both edge Man City(59) for shots inside the box with Liverpool(21) also edging out Man City(20) for big chances. However, Man City are top for xG(13.89) which is +1.5 xG more than that Liverpool who are second with an xG(12.32). Man United are 3rd with an xG of 11.46 and 20 big chances in the last six games.

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW34
In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates.
We will use Drafthound’s odds for a Team scoring at least one goal in the Gameweek and the Odds of Scoring more than 2.0 goals in the Gameweek as a whole.
Double gameweeks means the odds are high for all the teams with Man City having with an incredible 99% chance of scoring at least one goal and a 78% chance of scoring 2+ goals in GW34.
Liverpool have a 99% chance of scoring at least one goal and a 70% chance of scoring 2+ goals in GW34.
Man United have a 95% chance of scoring at least one goal and a 45% chance of scoring 2+ goals in GW34.

Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 34 Captain Picks
In the Fourth Phase of the article, I have used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points Tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week. I have then averaged the Two Ranks to churn out the Average Rank Factor, which I have used to determine the Safest yet Explosive option.
Surprisingly, Salah beats Haaland with a 90% any-time returns projection with a points projection of 15.3 for DGW34.
Haaland has the 2nd highest Anytime Returns Projections at 89%, while his Projected Points stand at 13.5 for the week.
KDB has the 3rd highest Anytime Returns Projections at 82%, while his Projected Points stand at 11.0 for the week.
Rashford has an Anytime Returns Projections at 72% and Projected Points at 10.4, which puts him in fourth.
Jota has an Anytime Returns Projections of 77% while the Projected Points stand at 6.5, pushing him to the last spot.

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 34 Captaincy metric analysis
In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). The Candidate having the lowest Cumulative Rank Factor is the most ideal Captaincy Option according to this metric.
Haaland tops the metrics with a CRF of just 5(The lowest possible CRF is 4). Salah is 2nd with a CRF of 9. KDB is closely behind in 3rd with a CRf OF 10. Jota is 4th with a CRF of 13 and Rashford is 5th with a CRF of 18!
