Let’s dive right into it. We will start with the first one.

FPL GW34 Tips – Key Questions/Dilemmas Answered

1) Is taking hits (-4/-8) ahead of FPL DGW34 worth it?

Is taking hits (-4/-8) ahead of FPL DGW34 worth it?

We have a Double Gameweek in GW34, and FPL managers are considering this an opportunity to take a few risks with their team. The question remains: is it worth taking hits for GW34?

It depends on what player you are taking a hit for and how much potential there is for good FPL points. Also, what player are you letting go, and what’s his haul potential? It is a perfect window if you are a risk-taking manager who likes to chase the upside. You can go for higher upside picks and chase FPL points.

There is more value in targeting attackers at the moment. Unless you can’t field a strong playing XI this week, taking a hit for a defender other than Trent Alexander-Arnold can be avoided. Look out for midfielders/forwards with a great set of fixtures and try to ascertain the possibility of a haul. You can also target players like KDB and Jota, who are slightly risky options but have great points potential this week.

Also, if you plan to captain this player, the argument for taking a hit becomes even more convincing. So, for example, if you plan to get in Mohamed Salah and captain him this week, a hit is worth it. It’s a considerable risk going against Haaland for captaincy, but it might pay off.

One thing to note is that your incoming transfers this week will at least double in GW34. They also might double in GW36-37, and if this is a long-term move, even taking multiple hits is fine for double gameweek 34.

2) How to set up your Free Hit team in FPL GW34?

How to set up your Free Hit team in FPL GW34?

A few FPL managers still have the Free Hit chip available and can stay ahead of the curve by using it this week to take advantage of the double in GW34. Using the Free Hit now can help you set up the ideal team for GW34 without taking any hits.

The core of your Free Hit team will be around players from Liverpool, Man City, Man United and BrightonGetting triple-ups from these teams will help you attack the good fixtures in GW34.

Newcastle doesn’t double but does have a good fixture against Everton this week. You can get in players like Kieran Trippier and play them to protect rank. The more aggressive strategy will be to keep the Newcastle picks on the bench and go for 11 doublers this week.

Overall, you need to consider how safe (template) or risky you want to go with your overall chip, and based on that, you can start building your team for this week.

3) What players to target with regular ‘Free Transfers’?

What players to target with regular ‘Free Transfers’?

Starting with goalkeepers, Ederson plus Iversen is a well-balanced combination in goal. It’s a bit extra money for a starting goalkeeper. Still, Ederson gives you a sure-shot starter in the Man City defence, which is tricky to nail otherwise.

Trent Alexander-Arnold covers off the Liverpool defence. There is good potential for clean sheets if Liverpool can sort out their defence, plus he has a good attacking threat. His performances after playing the inverted wing-back role have gotten better. In the last 4 games, he has scored 24 points despite not keeping any clean sheets and getting 5 assists.

Then we have John Stones from Manchester City, who has a great set of double gameweek fixtures in GW34. He is playing in a slightly central role like Trent and has benefited from the same, scoring 2 goals in the last 2 games. There can be rotation with Laporte also in the mix, but it’s worth it, especially on a Free Hit this week.

Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot are defensive picks from Man Utd. I expect both to be regular starters in the Man United team, and you can start one. Dalot has the highest upside, especially if Shaw plays a CB role. But has a slight risk of missing out, with Wan Bissaka being a decent cover as RB.

Brighton is conceding goals, but Pervis Estupiñán is playing very high up the pitch, even dropping into attacking midfield positions. Better than Steele, especially if you are going with one Brighton defensive option.

Coming to midfield, We have chosen Jack Grealish from Man City as our Man City midfielder option. Grealish has been getting regular game time this season. He looks like a nailed option on the left side of the Man City attack, with Foden still getting back into the team.

We also have Kevin De Bruyne, the best differential midfielder in the game for GW34. He did well against Arsenal, getting 3 attacking returns (2G+1A) and scoring 19 points. He has returned in his last 4 games and is an excellent pick in midfield if you are chasing rank. There is a slight doubt regarding his minutes, as he suffered a minor niggle in the last game. Keep a close eye on the press comments by Pep. You can go for him if he is fit.

Marcus Rashford is still a good pick for GW34. He will be up against Aston Villa and Brighton. Both teams have shown a tendency to concede goals, and there is potential for Rashford to get attacking returns this week.

Mohamed Salah is a great pick to jump on right now. Amongst all players in the last 6 gameweeks, he ranks joint 2nd for goals scored (5), 2nd for shots in the box (18) and 3rd for big chances total (6). With other choices slightly irregular in terms of minutes, Salah is comparatively safer for starts and is quite attacking.

The other option in midfield is the double-up on the Brighton attack. They are cheap and provide a lot of value. Kaoru Mitoma + Solly March is a good combo for GW34 and beyond. Mac Allister may play a deeper role so he can be avoided. The best combination is Mitoma + March, with both players in good form for Brighton.

Assuming everyone owns Erling Haaland, the second striker spot can be Diogo Jota from Liverpool. The Liverpool attacker has started the last 6 games scoring 4G+1A and looks in great touch since returning from injury. There were comments by Klopp that mentioned his reason for an early sub (knock in the back), but he is expected to be okay and is a significant differential to gain rank.

4) Is it okay to sell Kane this week?

Is it okay to sell Kane Ahead of FPL GW34?

Harry Kane is the 2nd highest-scoring FPL player this season, just behind Haaland. He has 30 attacking returns (24G+8A) and has single-handedly led Tottenham in the attack. Considering his price, he is occupying a premium slot among forwards right now.

The issue with Kane is that he has no double gameweeks coming up, and Tottenham will struggle if he is not firing. The alternate premium picks to go for are Mohamed Salah/KDB. Both have an extra fixture this week, with KDB also doubling in GW37.

Plus, many managers can only field one of Kane or KDB/Salah as per the structure of their team. The more aggressive option right now is Salah, and selling Kane does allow you to change the team structure or even improve on other players in your squad. There are good alternatives in Jota/Isak, who have additional fixtures and are currently playing for teams in better-attacking form.

Going without Kane is still risky, as he is scoring goals regularly. He has only blanked twice in the last 10 games, and his ownership will be pretty high.

If you are trying to play safe, holding Kane is still an option. But it’s worth it if you want to be aggressive, and selling him helps you get to Mohamed Salah, Trent or even a Jota.

That will be all from my side for this week! All the best for FPL Gameweek 34, and I will see you all next week.
