FPL GW32 Tips – Key Questions/Dilemmas Answered

1) What to do if not Free Hitting in GW32?

What to do if not Free Hitting in GW32?

It can be a tricky week for FPL managers who are not on a Free Hit this week. The idea here will be to field as many players as possible for GW32 while keeping the Double GW34 in mind. Try to take a maximum of a -8 and get to 9-10 players at the very least to minimize much rank loss this week.

If you are not using the FH chip this week, one of the priorities should be to get in Mohamed Salah from Liverpool. He will be a popular player for managers on a Free Hit this week, plus the most popular captaincy pick. He also has a double in GW34, so that helps as well.

Then you go on a player-to-player basis. If you are not Free Hitting in GW34, you can get to a Trent Alexander-Arnold if you have a Chilwell in your team. This way, you cover any risk from the Free Hitters in GW32/34.

You can also let go of one of your Brighton MIDs to get in a Martinelli and cover the Arsenal attack. But do keep in mind you are letting go of a double gameweek player for GW34. You can always remove Martinelli and get back the Brighton MID, as they also double in GW36 and most likely double in GW37 too.

Marcus Rashford is back in training and is a hold unless you want to get Gakpo from Liverpool, who also doubles in GW34. You can even take a chance with a West Ham MID, as they double in GW34.

Latest on Rashford/Shaw

Shaw and Rashford were also on the bench for Man United vs Sevilla and came in as substitutes in the 2nd half which means in all likelihood the duo should be ready to start in FPL GW33.

Keeping Erling Haaland still makes sense if you are not Free Hitting in GW32. You will want him in GW33; he is the best captaincy pick for the double in GW34. Talking about premium forwards, selling Harry Kane can be a good strategy right now. This way, you can keep Haaland, get in Salah and use the additional cash to make other upgrades.

2) Free Hitting in GW32 vs GW34 vs GW37

Free Hitting in GW32 vs GW34 vs GW37

Gameweek 32 Free Hit

  • The Free Hit chip in GW32 is beneficial if you have most of your players from Brighton, Man City and Man Utd. Using the Free Hit in GW32 can help you ignore the blank fixture for all these teams and keep players from the teams mentioned above for the double in GW34 (All three teams have two fixtures in GW34)
  • Free Hitting in GW32 helps you maximize your team potential. Teams like Arsenal and Liverpool have good fixtures. You can be aggressive by getting attacking triple-ups from both teams.
  • You can even target differentials from teams like Crystal Palace, Bournemouth, West Ham or Fulham. These teams have players you may not want long-term, but they have an attractive fixture in GW32.

FPL Gameweek 34 Free Hit

  • Free Hit in GW34 will allow 11 double gameweek players from teams like Brighton, Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd. The points ceiling for a Free Hit in GW34 looks a lot higher.
  • If you can manage to field 9-10 players with a hit or two, saving the Free Hit, for now, will hurt your rank a bit, but you can take advantage of premium double gameweek players for GW34.
  • GW32 vs 34 Free Hit is very team dependent as well. If your team has a lot of blank players or just not the ideal options for GW32, using the chip right now makes more sense; otherwise, save it for a later time in GW34.

FPL Gameweek 37 Free Hit

Man City double in GW37 should be confirmed soon
Man City double in GW37 should be confirmed soon
  • The most differential strategy out there. The most significant advantage with a GW37 Free Hit is that you will be ahead of the curve wrt to going with the right players based on game and league state.
  • You will be better positioned to react to injuries or players missing out because of rotation, with specific teams not having much to play for. But at the same time, this can be risky as big-hitting teams like Arsenal/Man City, Man United and even Liverpool might have little to play for. The points ceiling for a GW37 Free Hit may be lower.

3) What players to target on a Free Hit in FPL GW32?

What players to target on a Free Hit in GW32?

Starting with defenceTrent Alexander-Arnold covers off the Liverpool backline. There is good potential for clean sheets if Liverpool can sort out their defence, plus he has a good attacking threat. His performances after playing the inverted wing-back role have gotten better. In the last 2 games, he has scored 14 points, getting 2 assists with an xA of 1.44.

Moreno, Guehi and Zouma are slightly cheaper enabler picks. All of them are regular starters in their respective teams, and you will have to start one among the three. Alex Moreno is the pick with the highest upside. In his last 7 starts for Villa, he has got 5 clean sheets and 2 assists, scoring 42 points.

In midfield, Mohamed Salah is the most obvious pick. He has been unlucky wrt FPL points in recent matches. Over the last 10 games, he has an xGI of 9, the 2nd best in the league, only behind Watkins.

Doubling up on the Arsenal midfield looks like the right play. Gabriel Martinelli is the best Arsenal MID to target on his current form. He has 5 attacking returns in his previous 6 matches, including 2 double-digit hauls.

Bukayo Saka’s numbers have fallen off over the last few games, especially since the return of Jesus in the XI. Still, he has had a great season scoring 12 goals and creating 10 assists. Despite missing the last one, I believe he will continue to be on penalties which is excellent for his FPL prospects.

In forwards, Gabriel Jesus is the first pick in the attack you should have in your FPL team. He has started the last 2 matches scoring 3 goals and getting 19 points overall (including 3 bonus points). Jesus will likely start the upcoming crucial games for Arsenal and faces a struggling Southampton defence this week.

The other two spots are where you can get creative. Ollie Watkins is a good safe option who has been in top form. He has only blanked once in the last 12 games scoring 11 times for Villa. He is up against Brentford, who concede the most chances from the centre of the pitch, and this is great for Watkins and his potential this week.

This should be the core of your Free Hit team. Depending on how safe/risky you want to go with the chip this week, you can play around with the other picks in your squad.

4) How to gain rank on a Free Hit this week?

How to gain rank on a Free Hit this week?

Despite many managers playing the Free Hit chip this week and going with identical picks, there are a few ways to be different and gain rank.

The team’s core structure mentioned in the previous question is a good starting point, and you can start to go aggressive with the rest of the picks.

You can go with one of Gakpo/Jota if you are chasing rank. Cody Gakpo is the most nailed option in the Liverpool team after Salah. He has started regularly in attack scoring 5 goals since his introduction in the PL. He also looked good against Leeds, scoring 10 points. (1G+1A)

Eberechi Eze is another excellent pick, especially as your 5th midfielder option. He has looked great since Hodgson has taken over, with 4 attacking returns (3G+1A). He is also ranked 2nd for xGI among all Palace attackers. Eze has had 9 shots on goal and created 6 chances, and compared to the alternate option, Micheal Olise has 7 shots on goal and created 10 chances. Eze’s goal threat is higher – his xG is 0.74 better than Olise’s in that time – while Olise’s xA is 1.1 superior to Eze’s.

Jarrod Bowen is another exciting option if you want to go ultra-differential in midfield. The West Ham attacker has 3 attacking returns in his last 6 matches. Bowen faces one of the worst defences in the league in GW32 and is a great player to own if you are looking to go against the crowd.

We also have Andreas Pereira from Fulham as an excellent budget differential. Pereira has 3 attacking returns in his last 5 games and is facing Leeds, who have conceded 11 goals in their previous two games and ranks 1st for most goals conceded across the season.

Dominic Solanke is a brilliant pick and takes the 3rd striker spot. In the last 2 gameweeks, he ranks 2nd amongst all players for xGI(4.2), getting 2G+2A simultaneously. Bournemouth looks good in attack and can still score goals despite struggling to keep out defensively.

That will be all from my side for this week! All the best for FPL Gameweek 32, and I will see you all next week.
