FPL Gameweek 30 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

Erling Haaland, £12.0, TSB: 72.2%

FPL Gameweek 30 Players to Buy- Haaland

A 72% owned player on Top of Players to Buy? A player with 28 league goals with 10 games to go? To be fair, Haaland/Man City did not have a game in GW28 and Haaland missed out GW29 vs Liverpool due to injury and was understandably sold by more than 450k+ managers during these 2 weeks. But the latest news is that Haaland is back in training and should be available for GW30 vs Southampton.

Latest News on Haaland(GW30 Pre- Game Press Conference on 07/04/2023)

Manchester City’s Upcoming Schedule

DateFixture and CompetitionOpponent
April 8GW30Southampton(A)
April 11UCL Quarter Finals Leg 1Bayern(H)
April 15GW31Leicester(H)
April 19UCL Quarter Finals Leg 2Bayern(A)
April 22FA CupSheffield
April 26GW33Arsenal(H)
April 30DGW34 Game 1Fulham(A)
May 3DGW34 Game 2West Ham(H)

Looking at City’s upcoming schedule, there are lots of games incoming and City play Bayern Munich only 2 days after GW30. But with league title pretty much at stake, we predict that Haaland starts this game and gets subbed off early(if City wrap up the game). We all know how destructive Haaland can be even with limited minutes.

It is to be noted that Haaland has come off the bench in the league only once this season(GW15 vs Fulham) while coming back from the foot injury which saw his miss GW14. Other than that, he has started every league game when he is fit despite the tight schedule for City across competitions.

Even with the GW32 blank for Manchester City, he is an explosive option for GW30-GW31 against Southampton and Leicester who are ranked 14th and 20th worst for Goals Conceded since the World Cup break. Even with a combined 120 minutes across both these games, he could easily get 3-4 goals.

Jack Grealish, £6.9m, TSB: 3.1%

FPL Gameweek 30 Players to Buy- Grealish

Grealish is in some form since the World Cup break- 3 goals, and 6 assists from 12 starts in the league since the World Cup. He did peak last game with a “Man of the Match” performance against Liverpool for a goal, assist, and 12 points. It is difficult to ignore an in-form Manchester City attacker who has started the last 10 league games, with two potential doubles in GW34, GW37, and is just at 6.9 million. With Foden ruled out for at least a few weeks, his minutes look more secure.

Matchup alert-

Over the last 6 matches, Southampton have conceded 24 chances from their right flank which is the 3rd highest among teams in the league during the same time. This is exactly where Grealish operates and could have a good time once again in GW30.

FPL Gameweek 30 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

James Maddison, £8.3m, TSB: 11.6%

FPL Gameweek 30 Players to Hold- Maddison

It has been only “Pain” for Maddison over the last 3-4 weeks. What looked like a exciting Differential option with good fixtures has failed. Maddison has just 11 points(1 assist) from the last 5 games, but has been really unlucky with very good underlying numbers with an xGI of 3.20, 13 key passes and 5 Big Chances created.

Perhaps the thought process is to HOLD him at least for one more week with a favorable fixture against Bournemouth in GW30 and then move on from him with a tricky GW31 fixture against Manchester City. Maddison played on the right-wing for Leicester in GW29 and Bournemouth are ranked 2nd worst for Chances conceded over the last 6 matches on that side. Might be the haul is due finally!

Bruno Fernandes, £9.6m, TSB: 11.9%

FPL Gameweek 30 Players to Buy- Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Fernandes had a disappointing GW29 with just 4 points and a combined xGI of 0.20. What was even more disappointing was the positions he as taking up as seen below. Bruno’s position was further back behind the likes of Shaw, Sabitzer and even Fred(after he came on).

Manchester United Players Average Positions vs Brentford in GW29 via Fantasypedia(No.8= Bruno):

Potential advanced positon:

But with Casimero back from suspension in GW31 and Eriksen also back in training, Bruno Fernandes role is expected to much higher(Playing as a #10) in the upcoming weeks.

Likely on all set pieces:

Bruno is always the main man on penalties. But with Shaw likely to miss out on GW30 due to injury, he should be on all corners and free kicks as well with increases his goal-involvement potential.

Everton-Leaky Defense:

Since the World Cup break, Everton are ranked 5th worst in the league for Big Chances Conceded and Expected Goals Conceded.

If you are Free Hitting in GW32, it does make sense to hold Fernandes till the GW34 Double for United. With 2 good fixtures in GW30 and GW31(Everton and Forest) and Casimero returning from suspension in GW31, things should work out well for Fernandes.

FPL Gameweek 30 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Ivan Toney, £7.9m, 40.9% TSB

FPL Gameweek 30 Players to Sell- Toney

It is not a straightforward decision to sell your forward who has just returned with a Double-Digit haul(11 points) in DGW29. But with Toney, the situation is different. He is currently on 9 yellow cards. If Toney gets one yellow card in any of the next 3 games, he will serve a two-match suspension. On top of this, Toney has also pleaded guilty to many of the 262 charges against him of the FA Betting rules which means a ban could be coming anytime.

It is worth pointing out that Brentford also don’t have any more Double Gameweeks till the end of the season. There are teams with plenty of Double Gameweeks from now till the end of the season- Brighton(3 DGWs left), Man City, Manchester United(2 DGWs left), and Chelsea, Newcastle, and West Ham(with 1 DGW left). Read about more about Upcoming Doubles and Blanks till the end of the season with key notes-

With plenty of other good forward options- Haaland, Kane, Watkins, Jesus Isak, Solanke, Ferguson(Budget enablers) available, it is to time to move on from Toney for the final stretch of the season

Tip: Sell Toney right now and bring him back on GW32 Free Hit(vs Villa) if he is available then.

Ben Mee, £5.1m, TSB: 19.5%

FPL Gameweek 30 Players to Sell- Ben Mee

Brentford conceded a humongous 5.5 xG(Worst among all teams) from the 2 games in the Double Gameweek 29. Thanks to Raya(13 saves) they did concede only 4 goals. They are not in good defensive form and are up against a Newcastle side who just scored 5 goals away to West Ham. They are in excellent attacking form and a clean sheet in GW30 for Brentford looks very difficult.

Perhaps the idea could be to move your Brentford defender to a City/United defender- Both teams have a good fixture this week and also Double in GW34+ GW37(Likely).
