FPL GW25 is here and it is a blank and a double gameweek together with two four teams doubling and four teams blanking. A lot of managers have been figuring out their FPL Chip strategy for their teams and it’s an exciting period in FPL where having a differential pick or two will help you climb the ranks easily. Our differential picks this week have been based on various double/blank scenarios to fit most of the FPL manager’s team and chip scenarios. Let’s look at our top six FPL GW29 Differentials picks.

Top FPL GW25 Differential Picks (<10% ownership)
Darwin Nunez vs Crystal Palace(A), Wolves(H), £8.7m TSB: 9.0%
Darwin Nunez has a favorable Double Gameweek in GW25 against Palace and Wolves. He always had good underlying numbers but did not translate to FPL points. But he seems to be slowly getting into it with 3 attacking returns(2 goals, 1 assist) from the last 3 games in all competitions. The goal against Real Madrid gave us glimpses that he is slowly getting his confidence back.
Darwin Nunez Rank per 90 mins(Since GW17)
Low minutes players excluded.
- Expected Goal Involvement– 1st
- Non-Penalty xG– 1st
- Big chances– 2nd
- Shots inside the box– 1st
- Penalty Box Touches– 2nd
Key Matchups:
Darwin’s GW25 opponents Palace and Wolves are ranked 17th and 16th for Minutes/xGC in the league since the World Cup break. Good fixtures in a Double Gameweek and decent form could finally mean a good haul for Darwin Nunez in GW25.

Cody Gakpo vs Crystal Palace(A), Wolves(H), £7.8m, TSB: 4.5%
Gakpo is a great finisher which was seen in the World cup and after having a slow start to his Liverpool career the young dutch attacker is now showing signs of his true potential after scoring in consecutive league games for Liverpool against Everton and Newcastle United.
Since his debut, he has the highest xGI(2.38), and goal attempts(13) amongst Liverpool attackers and has scored the most goals(2). He also has had 4 big chances in the last 5 games and his two goals have come from two of the four big chances.
Salah in the same period has had only one big chance which he converted. Salah of course has penalties and is also expected to play more minutes, but it isn’t a bad idea to double up on Salah and Gakpo if your team structure allows it. It is also not a bad idea to go Gakpo over Salah if you can’t find an easy way to get Salah on your team as he’s priced at £12.6 million.
It’s worth keeping in mind that with Jota and Firmino slowly returning back, Gakpo and Darwin are most likely to be hooked at 65-70 mins. Although 60-70 mins in both the games against Wolves and Palace isn’t entirely bad.

Ollie Watkins vs Everton(A), £7.2 M, TSB: 5.0%
Watkins is in some form with 4 goals from the last 4 games fetching 34 points in the process- Only Marcus Rashford has more FPL points than Watkins during this period. This includes goals against Arsenal and Manchester City too. He also goes through a nice run of fixtures which means both form and fixtures are on his side. Also, unlike other Aston Villa attackers, he’s guaranteed to start and offers great value at just £7.2 million.
Aston Villa fixtures from FPL GW25:
One important thing to be noted about Watkins is he is one of the in-form players who nicely covers the upcoming stretch of Doubles and Blanks(till GW32).
- Confirmed Fixture in Blank GW25(where 4 teams blank) vs Everton(A)
- Confirmed Fixture in Blank GW28(where 10 teams are likely to blank) vs Bournemouth(H)
- Confirmed Double in GW29 vs Chelsea(A), Villa(A)
- Confirmed Fixture in Blank GW32 vs Brentford(A)
Upcoming Doubles and Blank till the end of the season are explained in simple terms below-
James Tarkowski vs Aston Villa(H), Arsenal(A), £4.3m, TSB: 6.0%
Fixtures against Arsenal and Villa may not be an ideal Double for Everton and Tarkowski. But if Everton manage to keep at least one clean sheet, there could be a huge haul for him. Dyche is a defensively strong manager who already has 2 clean sheets from the last 3 games including a clean sheet against Arsenal where Tarkowski scored the winning goal and got a 15-point haul. They didn’t even keep one clean sheet in the last 7 PL games before his arrival.
Everton also have confirmed fixtures in GW28 and GW32- Both of which are Big Blank Gameweeks. At 4.3 million, Tarkowski could be a useful option long term if you are in shortage of chips.
Tarkowski carries an aerial threat like no other defender. Since GW17, Tarkowski is 2nd among Defenders for Shots inside the box(8) and Headed Attempts on Goal(7). With the lack of other good defender options in the game right now, Tarkowski is a decent pick for the GW25 Doubles.
Key stat:
Since Dyche took over, Tarkowski is ranked Top among Everton players for Shots(5), Penalty Area Touches(9), and xGI-1.11.
Villa also have a problem while defending set pieces as seen on this thread.

Jarrod Bowen vs Forest(H), £8.0m, TSB: 2.8%
Last season’s popular budget midfielder is our 5th differential pick for FPL GW25. You might think why have we gone for a West Ham asset considering the fact that West ham are struggling this season.
But West Ham have some great home games to turn it around, from GW25 till DGW29 – 4 of their 5 confirmed games are at the London stadium. Four of their five wins this season have been in home games. They play Forest in GW25 and as good as Forest are at home, they are equally poor away from home conceding 25 goals(3rd worst) and keeping just 2 away CS in 11 away games.
West Ham could blank in GW28 but have a decent double in GW29 with two home games against Newcastle and Southampton.
Since the WC break, West Ham have scored only 7 goals in 8 games but Bowen has been involved in 5 of those goals(2 goals, 3 assists).
Bowen in the last four games has registered 2 goals and an assist from a healthy xGI of 2.5 all of it coming in home games. He has also had 2 big chances and created 2 big chance in the last four games which indicates he’s getting decent chances but also creating decent chances for his teammates. Overall in the season, Bowen has 4 goals and 4 assists out of which 4 goals and 2 assists have come in home games.
Bowen could come good in the upcoming run of good fixtures for West ham and he could be a great differential!

Ultra-Differential Pick for GW25(<1% ownership)
Pablo Sarabia vs Fulham(A), Liverpool(A), £5.5m TSB: 0.2%
Wolves are not one of the best-attacking teams and Sarabia has 0 zero attacking returns from his first 4 games in Premier League. Yet Sarabia makes the cut. This is because Sarabia has good underlying numbers(xGI/90 of 0.37) and is unlucky not to return so far. He is due a return. Sarabia also has a Double Gameweek in GW25 vs Fulham and Liverpool who are not the best defensive sides in the league. Liverpool and Fulham are ranked 19th and 14th for Big Chances conceded in the league since the World Cup break.
Key Stat- Pablo Sarabia
Since Sarabia joined the league, Sarabia has an xGI/90 of 0.37 which is better than the likes of Watkins, Mitoma, Kulusevski, Mudryk, Son, Almiron, Mcneill, Buendia during the same period(GW21- GW24)
Wolves as a team have also better underlying numbers with Sarabia in the team. Sarabia could well be the Differential Double Gameweek punt for GW25.
Wolves attack numbers With Sarabia/Without Sarabia- Since the World Cup
Before Sarabia came(GW17-GW20) | With Sarabia(GW21- GW24) | |
Matches | 4 | 4 |
xG | 3.66 | 4.1 |
