2022 World Cup Fantasy | Group – G Preview

BRAZIL 🇧🇷

  • Nickname: A Seleção
  • Current FIFA Rank: 1
  • Manager: Tite
  • Formation: 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

There are chances that Brazil may lineup in a 4-3-3 formation with Fred, Casemiro and Paqueta in midfield and Raphinha, Richarlison & Neymar as front three.

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Neymar Jr ($10.5m FWD)

Alright, surely this is the year, surely! Brazil have a fantastic team with very little holes in their squad & is among the Top 3 favourites to win the whole thing & if they go on to win it, Neymar will have won it all! The World Cup is the missing silverware in his already glittering career which I think would’ve been even better if he stayed a bit injury-free so far in his career! Most importantly, he has been in brilliant form this season. He’s scored 13 goals & has provided 11 assists in Ligue 1 & Champions League combined! Fully fit and rearing to go, Neymar is one of the best premium options in the game!

⭐ Vinícius Júnior ($10.5m FWD)

The Real Madrid left winger has been in crazy form for the past 12-15 months or so & has a big role to play in this World Cup for the Seleção! His crazy form has forced Neymar to play in the number 10 role & both should definitely start. Tite is unpredictable sometimes and has loads of options up his sleeve so you never know when he decides to bench Vini but given his form he could be a crazy fantasy asset if he starts which is very likely!

⭐ Casemiro ($6m MID)

All of the front 4/5 whoever will start are great options for the Seleção but we shouldn’t underestimate the importance of “Ball Recovery” points in this fantasy game! Whoever plays the UCL fantasy game & has played the Euro Fantasy game in the previous years know that Ball Recovery pts come in very handy. Casemiro is nailed to start in the lone DM role. So, he’s expected to pick up those extra points in every game plus for a DM he scores quite a few goals so you can expect him to come up with a return of two here and there! Could be a very good fantasy asset at only $6m!

💎 Marquinhos ($5.5m DEF) / Thiago Silva ($6m DEF)

As there are uncertainties as to which full backs will start in either flanks, we’ve turned out attention to the CB duo who are fairly nailed in Tite’s starting XI.

At the age of 38, this will most likely be Thiago Silva’s last World Cup & his last chance to win the biggest prize in world football! He has scored a goal each of the previous two editions & I’m sure he’ll bang one header in from a set piece in any game so make sure to pick him at the right moment😉

On the other hand, Marquinhos has definitely got a couple of World Cups more in him & is a pretty similar fantasy asset to Thiago Silva! Both are expected to be the CB duo for Brazil. The PSG man is a shade better fantasy asset than the Chelsea man because of two reasons: One, Thiago Silva’s injury concerns means he can be rested in any game. Two, Marquinhos is $0.5m cheaper than Thiago Silva.

SERBIA 🇷🇸

  • Nickname: Orlovi (The Eagles)
  • Current FIFA Rank: 21
  • Manager: Dragan Stojkovic
  • Formation: 3-4-1-2 / 3-4-2-1 / 3-5-2

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Dusan Tadic ($8m MID)

At 33, Tadic is Serbia’s captain & their most capped player in this current squad. The Ajax star is a tactical genius on the field & despite not having blessed with pace, his link up play, movements & skills have made him one of Serbia’s all-time greats! He has accumulated 30+ G & A involvements in the past 4 seasons for Ajax & already has 12 attacking returns in Eredivisie this season so no doubt the former Southampton attacking midfielder will look to make his mark in the biggest stage of all after failing to get off the mark 4 years ago in Russia!

⭐ Aleksandar Mitrovic ($7m FWD)

“Goals” is the name of the game for the Fulham man. The Serb scored 8 goals in the 2022 WC qualifiers & has 6 in 5 games in the latest Nations League campaign! He enjoyed an astonishing season last term in what has been regarded as one of the greatest seasons in “English 2nd Division” history as he scored 43 goals in 44 apps! He already has 9 PL goals to his name this season. The goal poacher is currently struggling with an injury atm & is doubtful for their opener but will surely be fit by MD2 & will no doubt look to add to his goal tally in Qatar!

⭐ Filip Kostic ($6m MID) / Andrija Zivkovic ($5m MID)

Kostic & Zivkovic are expected to lineup on both the wings in a 3-4-1-2 set up! Both are wingers by trade but does the defensive side of things very well hence they’ve been regularly playing as wing backs for the Eagles! Unsurprisingly they both are very attack minded hence both have very good chances of getting an attacking return or two!

💎 Dusan Vlahovic ($8.5m FWD)

The 22 year-old tall Serbian scored 20+ goals in each of the past two seasons & will be leading the line alongside Mitrovic in Qatar! Since Mitrovic is a doubt for MD1, Vlahovic offers a great alternative option & could be on penalties as well! Imo, he’s been priced at a half a million or so high by the FIFA towers but you’ll more or less get full value for money if you pick him because he shoots a lot(SoT bps) & in a group where the Serbians cannot afford any slip-ups, the Juventus man will look to be on the end of things more often than not whenever he gets an opportunity!

SWITZERLAND 🇨🇭

  • Nickname: La Nati
  • Current FIFA Rank: 15
  • Manager: Murat Yakin
  • Formation: 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Breel Embolo ($6.5m FWD)

Embolo is in fine form after his switch to Monaco this summer! He has scored 7 goals & provided 2 assists in 14 apps in Ligue 1 this season! 4 years ago in the World Cup, he played second fiddle to Haris Seferovic, this time around the roles have reversed. Their might be an odd game where Seferovic/Okafor starts in place of him but expect him to play most minutes among all the forwards.

⭐ Xherdan Shaqiri ($7.5m MID)

With Shaqiri, what you get is “experience”. This is his fourth World Cup & who knows this might be his last but he’s been a fantastic servant for the Swiss national team for many many years. Switzerland have a reputation of being very dangerous in big tournaments for a decade or so now. They were knocked out of the quarter finals in the Euros last year and no doubt they can go deep in this World Cup as well! He is a decent fantasy asset. You just got to own him at the right moments because he can explode anytime!

⭐ Yann Sommer ($5m GK)

Another one of those veterans who’ve played for Switzerland for a long time now & have been very consistent over the years! Sommer just knows how to produce massive saves in the moments “when it matters”! 2016 Euros, 2018 World Cup, 2020 Euros, you name it, Sommer has been a vital cog in this very settled Swiss side. He’s been in and out with injuries of late but should be fit in time to face Cameroon.

💎 Silvan Widmer ($4.5m DEF) / Fabian Schär ($4m DEF)

Both are nailed for Switzerland & are very good budget defenders. Both are very capable of getting attacking returns so if you don’t go with Sommer & want a Switzerland defense cover then either one of these two is your man! Widmer is a marauding right wing back who has been brilliant for Mainz in the last couple of seasons. Schär has been instrumental in Newcastle’s rise over the last year or so, hence both go into the World Cup with great confidence!

CAMEROON 🇨🇲

  • Nickname: The Indomitable Lions
  • Current FIFA Rank: 43
  • Manager: Rigobert Song
  • Formation: 4-4-2 / 4-2-3-1

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Karl Toko Ekambi ($7m FWD)

The 30-year-old is another player who has gotten better with every passing age! He scored a 124th minute winner against Algeria in Algiers back in March this year which gave Cameroon their ticket to Qatar! He had a fantastic AFCON campaign earlier this year in his home country where he guided Cameroon to finish at 3rd place! The Lyon winger will be instrumental for Cameroon in this World Cup!

⭐ Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa ($7m MID)

Zambo Anguissa has blossomed into a wonderful midfielder, even if a move to Fulham from Marseille led to two relegations. He has been in remarkable form for Napoli both in Serie A and Champions League this season as he has showed exactly what he’s capable of. A fantastic ball carrier, a box to box midfielder, he has all the ingredients to reach even greater heights and Cameroon will be hoping that he shows up in the biggest stage of all!

⭐ Vincent Aboubakar ($8m FWD) /
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting ($7.5m FWD) / Bryan Mbeumo ($7m FWD)

Ooo… I am actually spoilt for choices here and believe me all 3 of these players that I’ve mentioned are on line to start against Switzerland are are pretty good options to consider!

Aboubakar scored 8 goals in AFCON earlier this year and looked like a man possessed! He has only scored 2 goals this season in the Saudi Professional League but who knows, he may have been saving energy to smash it at the big stage!

Choupo-Moting has been in crazy form for Bayern since the middle of last month… He has got an attacking return in 8 out of his last 9 games! He has been recalled in the national side now & Cameroon will be hoping that he transfers his Bayern form to their country throughout this World Cup campaign!

Mbeumo has been a key figure for Brentford ever since he’s signed for them back in 2019! He has built a great partnership with Toney in club football & despite not scoring much since last season in the Premier League he has been vital for Brentford’s decent form in the Premier League overall! He has only changed his nationality to Cameroon this year & since he plies his trade in England’s top flight club he can handle pressure at the big stage!

💎 Collins Fai ($4.5m DEF) / Nouhou Tolo ($4m DEF)

Collins Fai & Nouhou Tolo were stars at the AFCON earlier this year as they conjured up 4 assists between them… Both have been in very good form for their respective clubs & will be heading into the World Cup with full confidence. Both could turn out to be gems so take your pick!

2022 World Cup Fantasy | Group – H Preview

PORTUGAL 🇵🇹

  • Nickname: A Seleção
  • Current FIFA Rank: 9
  • Manager: Fernando Santos
  • Formation: 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3 / 4-1-4-1

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Cristiano Ronaldo ($10m FWD)

He might not be in the best of forms heading into the World Cup but he is still THE main man as far as Portugal are concerned! With over 100 international goals & over 800 goals in his career, CR7 is one of the greats of all time & at 37 he might not be in his prime but certainly is one of the fittest around & still makes a huge impact whenever he wears the Portuguese national team jersey! Into his 5th World Cup & potentially his last, Ronaldo will be hoping to add to his tally of 7 World Cup goals… This is the best Portuguese squad we’ve seen for years and since he’s done it with a decent enough squad in the 2016 Euros, surely a first World Cup isn’t far from impossible for them as they are expected to venture very deep into the tournament in Qatar…

⭐ João Cancelo ($6m DEF)

The 28 year-old Cityzen is one of the best fullbacks in the world right now & after missing out on last year’s Euros due to COVID where Portugal missed his presence, he’ll be looking to make an impact in his first World Cup! He racks up the numbers, be it clean sheets, goals/assists, passes or anything else, he is one of best premium defenders’ in the game!

⭐ Bruno Fernandes ($9.5m MID)

Bruno Fernandes is an interesting fantasy option! He might not be a popular pick in MD1 due to fantasy managers looking elsewhere but he certainly can be very explosive on his day & going bonkers against Ghana in MD1 wouldn’t be too surprising! With Ronaldo a doubt in MD1, Bruno will be on pens when the great man is not on the pitch. He has taken some time to gel in Fernando Santos’ system but he’ll be eager to showcase his class in the big stage after failing to deliver the goods in the Euros last year!

💎 Rafael Leão ($8m FWD) / Bernardo Silva ($9m MID)

The AC Milan star is the player to watch out for in this year’s World Cup! Tall, strong, pacey young lad with crazy dribbling skills, Leão is expected to be given the opportunity to play at left wing with Diogo Jota not being available for selection in the WC due to injury! He has 13 attacking returns in club football this season & could prove to be a gem of a fantasy asset!

On the other hand, Bernardo Silva is as nailed as it gets. The Man City versatile attacker has an incredible ability to pop up in various different positions and provides various different routes to points!

URUGUAY 🇺🇾

  • Nickname: La Celeste (The Sky Blue)
  • Current FIFA Rank: 14
  • Manager: Diego Alonso
  • Formation: 4-3-3 / 4-4-2

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Luis Suaréz ($7.5m FWD)

Suaréz at only $7.5m? That’s it. You got to be kidding me! Never ever, even in your dreams write off Luis Suaréz! He has been a prolific goalscorer for many many years for club & country scoring more than 400 goals combined! He scored 8 World Cup qualifying goals & already has 8 goals in his second stint at Nacional, he will be eager to add to his 7 goals tally in his 4th & potentially his last World Cup!

Further Read: 2022 World Cup Fantasy: Predicted Lineups of All 32 Teams

⭐ Darwin Núñez ($8m FWD)

The €75m + add ons signing from Benfica to Liverpool has slowly grown in stature at Merseyside & has quietly scored 8 goals already this season in PL & UCL combined! It depends which formation Alonso goes with, so if it’s 4-4-2 then it’ll be Suaréz & Nuñéz up front, if it’s 4-3-3 then Nuñéz at left wing! Its either him or Suaréz in your teams: your choice👍

⭐ Federico Valverde ($8.5m MID)

What a player this guy is!!!

He has been one of Real Madrid’s best and most important players over the last 18 months or so & is comfortable either playing in midfield or as a winger. The Real Madrid man is now the heart beat of this Uruguayan side with his stamina & versatility. He is very high on confidence atm & the star midfielder is another player who offers points through various different routes…

💎 Mathías Olivera ($4.5m DEF) /  Giorgian De Arrascaeta ($5.5m MID)

Olivera is expected to start at left back for Diego Alonso’s side & he is another player who is high on confidence as he is a part of the crazy Napoli side these days! He has accumulated 5 attacking returns in club football this season and will look to play a key role for La Celeste in this World Cup!

De Arrascaeta could become a budget gem if he starts games! He is not nailed but could start a game or two so he’s a wait & watch for now. He scored 5 goals in the WC qualifiers and got 13 attacking returns in the Brasileiro Serie A the season just gone by!

GHANA 🇬🇭

  • Nickname: Black Stars
  • Current FIFA Rank: 61
  • Manager: Otto Addo
  • Formation: 4-4-2 / 4-2-3-1 / 4-3-3

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Mohammed Kudus ($6m MID)

Kudus is enjoying his breakthrough season with Ajax as he burst onto to scene in the Champions League group stages! He could also play in the “False 9” role & is definitely nailed. At only $6m he could make a mockery of that price tag!

⭐ André Ayew ($6m FWD)

On penalties and set pieces & the captain of the Black Stars, the vastly experienced, André Ayew will be playing in his third World Cup! He has been in decent form for Al-Sadd & will look to add to his tally of 2 goals in World Cups!

⭐ Jordan Ayew ($6m FWD) / Inaki Williams ($6.5m FWD)

André’s brother, Jordan is a hard worker on and off the ball and is expected to start at left wing for Addo’s side! He is a decent option and could be on penalties when his brother is not on the pitch.

Iñaki Williams is actually a better option than Jordan Ayew as is expected to lead the line for the Black Stars! He holds an astonishing La Liga record of making over 240 consecutives appearances. The 28 year-old Athletic Bilbao man could be a star in this year’s World Cup in Qatar!

💎 Thomas Partey ($6m MID)

Thomas Partey is one of most important players both for Ghana & Arsenal. He can score worldies and will be instrumental in the middle of the park for the Black Stars. In his first World Cup as well, the 29-year-old offers various different routes to fantasy points and offers a pretty good alternative option to the names that has just been mentioned above!

SOUTH KOREA 🇰🇷

  • Nickname: Taegeuk Warriors
  • Current FIFA Rank: 28
  • Manager: Paulo Bento
  • Formation: 4-2-3-1 / 4-1-4-1

📸 26-MAN SQUAD LIST:

🎁 PREDICTED STARTING XI:

🔑 KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR:

⭐ Son Heung-min ($8.5m MID)

Sonny Boy… Who else? He is the talisman in this South Korean side and is their man source for goals. He scored 2 goals in Russia 4 years ago including a goal in a famous 2-0 win against Germany! He scored 7 goals in 7 qualifying matches and takes all the set pieces for his country including penalties. The only issue is that he has been struggling with injuries recently & hasn’t been in best of forms for Tottenham this season… But expect him to recover in time & personally have another very good World Cup under belt!

⭐ Hwang Hee-chan ($6.5m MID)

Hwang got his Wolves career off to a flier when he signed from RB Leipzig last season but has somewhat fizzled out recently… He scored 3 goals in qualifying & is expected to either play in attacking midfield or as a striker. Who knows, he could be back in form in the World Cup so definitely keep the Wolves man in your watchlist for now!

💎 Kim Min-jae ($4.5m DEF)

The 6-foot-3 tall, strong center-back is one of the vital cogs for the Taegeuk Warriors! He is perfectly equipped to handle any striker he comes up against. Tasked with replacing the stalwart Koulibaly in Napoli’s defense, he has exceeded expectations & has already emerged as one of Serie A’s top center-backs in just a short span of time. He has scored 2 goals in 14 apps in Serie A already and is a real threat to head home from set pieces so watch out for him because he could be a budget gem🙂
