2022 World Cup Fantasy: Fixture Difficulty Rating (FDR)

As a useful tool for all football fantasy managers, especially those who play FPL, here you can find the familiar style of FDR table for all the teams in the World Cup 2022 group stage. This table is based on the teams’ form and performance during the last year, which can help managers plan their transfers and team selection strategy.

World Cup Fantasy FDR

Group A

Netherlands is one of three national teams with the best form during last year under Louis van Gaal, alongside Argentina and Brazil. Although they are not too favorite to win the tournament like the two other South American giants, they have the best or at least one of the best fixtures in the group stage. Senegal is the second favorite team of the group, even in the absence of their best player Sadio Mane as he is still involved in the list for the World Cup despite his injury. Qatar, the host, and Ecuador share the third place as the South American team seems to be stronger while the Middle Eastern side benefits from hospitality.

World Cup Fantasy | Group – A & B Preview, Key Players & More

Group B

Despite the poor performance in UEFA Nations League which ended with their relegation into League B, England is still the favorite to win the group by their world-class players, being led by former World Cup top scorer Harry Kane. The other three teams look like having the same chance of finishing in any position except the winner of the group. The return of Carlos Queiroz with the solid defensive results of Iran and the acceptable performance of the rising stars of USA, maybe put these two teams slightly above Wales and the talisman, Gareth Bale, as the European team hasn’t been in a good shape recently.

World Cup Fantasy | Group – A & B Preview, Key Players & More

Group C

After winning Copa America last year and beating Italy in Finalissima this summer, Argentina is one of the favorites to win the World Cup this year. The team had such an excellent performance with the leader, Lionel Messi, as he has still one opportunity to win the World Cup in his final performance. Mexico and Poland seem to be fighting for the second place in the group, especially in their first match where they face each other. Saudi Arabia has the lowest chance of getting any points in this group while they are considered one of the weakest teams in the tournament with their poor result in the last few months.

Group D

While so many believe France, winner of Word Cup 2018, is one of the favorites of the World Cup, they didn’t show a sharp performance during UEFA Nations League this year. The other team in this group, Denmark, could beat them in two matches they faced during the latter tournament, which means these two European teams have the same higher chance of finishing in the first and second positions. Australia and Tunisia also look to have the same likelihood of ending in the third and fourth of the group, unless they play an exceptional game against their stronger opponents which is always possible in Football.

Group E

Similar to the previous group, Spain and Germany share the same possibility of finishing the first and second positions in this group. While Luis Enrique’s team performed more efficiently in recent games, Hansi Flick’s side scored more goals as well as conceded more, so their match in the second round will probably decide the winner and the runner-up of the group. Japan and Costa Rica seem to be positioned at the bottom of the group, and they have to get points from former Word Cup champions if they aim to finish a better place rather than the third or fourth place.

Group F

The Runner-up and third team of World Cup 2018 are in the group and both start the tournament with a nice form, although none of them are among the top favorites of the World Cup this year. Predictably, Belgium and Croatia will finish the first and second in the group, and their match in the third round will determine their final position. Canada and Morocco are less likely to finish top two and the African side has shown a better performance recently, but the difference doesn’t seem that much as Canadians could finish on top of the CONCACAF qualification table of the World Cup.

Group G

Brazil, the favorite of the tournament, has surely the highest chance to win the group with their solid performance in defense and attack in a long time. Tite’s team record has been ridiculous and Neymar has the opportunity to finally win it as he is in prime form this season. The European teams share the same chance to finish as the runner-up of the group, while Serbia has been better in scoring compared to Switzerland. Cameroon has one of the toughest fixtures in the tournament, which makes it very difficult for them to finish in any position rather than the bottom of the group.

Group H

Similar to Group D and Group E, Portugal and Uruguay are the two teams sharing the chance of finishing the first and second place in this group with slightly more odds for the European side to win, as Ronaldo will do his best in the last World Cup he plays. The second round match between them will probably decide the winner of the group. The same prediction goes for Ghana and South Korea for the third and fourth place, and it seems the Asian side maybe has a bit more potential to perform above the African team according to their recent results.
