FPL GW4 Wildcard Team & Drafts to Consider | Wildcard Guide

GW3 proved to be an average/boring one for most FPL managers. This has made some managers think about Wildcard as an option ahead of GW4, which is not a bad idea at all. With unlimited transfers available after GW16 due to the World Cup break, an early Wildcard also makes sense. It all depends on the team structure, what all players you want and when. In this article, we will look at the pros and cons of using Wildcard in GW4, Best Wildcard drafts to consider ahead of FPL GW4.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Guide

Pros of playing Wildcard in FPL GW4:

  • Easy route to must-own players like Salah and Jesus if you haven’t got them in GW1 and got behind due to price changes.
  • Go to the Team structure which you want without multiple hits.
  • Allows you to do some sideways moves like Son to Kane, Saka to Martinelli, etc.
  • Can go from a Big at the Back(5 defenders) formation to a three striker formation Haaland/Kane- Jesus- Toney easily.
  • Take advantage of spotting Differentials if you have already spotted them. Some players might be Differentials now, but highly owned around GW6.

Cons of Playing Wildcard in FPL GW4:

  • Might not be more than 5 players changing from your current squad and Wildcard draft.
  • Nunez suspension
  • Top 6 teams will start rotating more with European Football(midweek) starting after GW6.
  • Might need Wildcard little later when we get more injuries/suspensions.
  • Uncertainty around the fitness of players like Perisic and Chilwell.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Drafts

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 1

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 1
0.5 in the bank

Key notes about the Draft

  • Salah, TAA, Cancelo, Jesus, Martinelli pick themselves.
  • Sanchez is the 4.5 GoalKeeper with amazing fixtures till GW8.
  • Luis Diaz can become Maddison/Zaha/Gundogan after attacking the Bournemouth fixture.
  • 0.5 in the bank which can be used to do Saliba to Trippier for GW6. Newcastle have a good run of fixtures from GW6 and Saliba could also be given the odd rest when UCL games begin.
  • Haaland can be Kane if you are not sure of Haaland’s minutes courtesy of Pep’s latest press conference update about Haaland‘s minutes.

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 2

FPL GW4 Wildcard Draft 2

Key notes about the Draft

  • Three striker formation with Toney joining Jesus, Kane/Haaland
  • Toney has great fixtures till GW7- Everton, Palace, Leeds, Southampton and can be moved to Mitrovic in GW8 who has a good fixture swing from GW8- Forest, Newcastle, West Ham, Bournemouth, Villa, Leeds, Everton.
  • Williams/Patterson could be upgraded to a 4.5/5.0 DEF with the money in the bank
  • Gross is still a good differential at just 8.2% TSB and great fixtures till GW8- LEE(H), FUL(A), LEI(H), BOU(A), CRY(H)
  • Zaha is also still at just 10% TSB and has great fixtures after playing City in GW4. Zaha got 3 big chances in GW2 vs Liverpool and 2 big chances vs Villa in GW3. He has fetched 21 points from 3 games so far.

Do vote in the captaincy poll for this week below. The captaincy metrics blog from @AK_FPL1 will be posted based on the votes. The metrics had a 30/38 record last season and so far has a 3/3 record with Haaland topping the metrics in GW3.
