FPL GW25 Top Transfer Ins and Outs | Transfer Trends & Combinations

Welcome to FPL GW25 Transfer Trends! This is a weekly series where we take a bit of time to analyze some of the major transfer trends on FPL prior to the deadline.

GW24 almost felt like a normal gameweek, after a flurry of occasional double gameweeks. With Salah’s uncertainty of starting, it was an interesting gameweek for captaincy with many potential armband picks.

This week, we can see the transfer trends show people buying players from Aston Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Brighton. The top 5 transfers OUT come from Man City, Chelsea, West Ham, Spurs, and Liverpool.

We will take a look at the players that managers are rushing to get in their teams, as well as the players managers are booting out. Then, we will dive into three main transfer combinations that could be decent moves to make ahead of the upcoming gameweek.

Alonso (0 points) to Laporte (6 points) ✅

Mount (0 points) to Bowen (11 points) ✅

Dennis (2 points) to Edouard (1 point) ❌

2/3 picks worked out for GW24, Bowen claiming a massive haul! Onto GW25!

FPL GW25 Transfer Trends ~ Most transferred in and transferred out players

Bernardo Silva (124k) leads the top transfers out list after very lackluster performances the last few gameweeks. Mount sees another 99k managers shipping him out with a consecutive blank gameweek for Chelsea.

Antonio’s poor performance against Watford sees 91k managers look elsewhere for forward options. Kane sees 79k managers seeking alternatives after another blank against Southampton. Finally, Jota, despite a stellar haul against Leicester, sees 77k managers transfer him out, possibly to make way for Salah after his return from AFCON.

On the flip side, Coutinho is the hottest prospect prior to the GW25 deadline, with 300k managers impressed with his 1 goal and 2 assists in Villa’s draw with Leeds. Salah’s return from AFCON sees 270k managers bring him in ahead of Liverpool’s fixture against Burnley.

126k managers were also impressed with Jacob Ramsey’s 2 goals against Leeds. Saint-Maximin’s assist against Everton sees another 112k managers bring him into their teams. Finally, Maupay makes the fifth spot on the top transfers in list, with 94k managers bringing in the Brighton forward ahead of their double gameweek in GW25.

The 3 transfer combinations we will be focusing on are: Gray to Ramsey, Mount to Fernandes, and Kane to Ronaldo.

FPL GW25 Transfer Combination 1:

Demarai Gray (£5.5) to Jacob Ramsey (£4.7)

Aston Villa’s fixtures from GW25-31

Gray’s 6th consecutive blank makes it no surprise he is shipped out by 26.2% of managers to a man who is in hot form: Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey.

In the last 6 games, Ramsey has scored 4 goals and 1 assist, claiming 3 double digit hauls. He is in fresh hot form after scoring a brace in Aston Villa’s 3-3 draw with Leeds.

AbuBakar Siddiq on Twitter (@BigManBakar) put it best regarding the analysis on Jacob Ramsey. See his tweet below:

To sum up his argument:
  • No Villa player has had more big chance involvements than Ramsey since Gerrard has taken over
  • Plays the most advanced of the midfield three, making late runs into the box
  • Cheap, amazing value at £4.7
  • Villa have a great run of fixtures and do not blank in GW27 and GW30

Who do Aston Villa face in GW25?

Aston Villa play Newcastle away in GW25. In the buildup play for both of Ramsey’s goals against Leeds, both of those goals were conceded down the middle, with Ramsey making a late run for Coutinho to pick out.

Newcastle concede 43% of their chances down the middle. Additionally, Newcastle have conceded the most big chances (61), and they have the 2nd worst expected goals conceded among all teams this season (41.8). This should be a good game for Villa to target.

Newcastle have conceded the most big chances in total so far this season (61).

FPL GW25 Transfer Combination 2:

Mason Mount (£7.5) to Bruno Fernandes (£11.7)

FPL GW25 Transfer Trends ~ Mount to Bruno
Man United’s fixtures from GW25-31

Chelsea’s blank in GW25 means managers are still rushing to remove the likes of Mount from their teams, looking at potential double gameweek targets like premium midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

With United’s favourable double gameweek in GW25, Fernandes is a great player to target. Among all Man United midfielders in the last 5 GWs, Fernandes is best for total shots (12), big chances (3), and xG (1.73). No other United player comes close when it comes to key passes (17), and he has an expected goal involvement of 3.3. He is also on set-pieces.

He is a great captaincy pick too for those who may not own another United asset.

Who do Man United face in DGW25?

Man United play Southampton and Brighton at home in DGW25. Southampton have been poor defensively in the last 10 games, not keeping a single clean sheet and conceding 16 goals in that time. They are 2nd worst for expected goals conceded (17.2), tied with Leeds, and they have conceded the 2nd most big chances in that time (26).

The Brighton game may be particularly tougher for Bruno and Man United, given they have shown better defensive stability compared to the vast majority of teams. The Southampton game will be the one where we need to target.

A friendly reminder that United thrashed Southampton 9-0 last season in the same fixture, with Bruno picking up a massive haul. Will we see another remake of the scoreline?

Southampton have the 2nd worst xGC in the last 10 gameweeks (17.2).

FPL GW25 Transfer Combination 3:

Harry Kane (£12.3) to Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5)

FPL GW25 Transfer Trends ~ Kane to Ronaldo
Man United’s fixtures from GW25-31

Kane’s lackluster performance against Southampton has prompted 13.7% of managers to make the swap to United premium forward Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of their double gameweek fixtures in GW25.

Most Ronaldo owners (including myself) will see Ronaldo’s benching against Burnley as a big misfortune. However, this could be beneficial as it may imply he was rested before United’s double gameweek. We could see Ronaldo start both fixtures against Southampton and Brighton, before possibly being rested against Leeds in GW26.

Among all forwards, Ronaldo is still 2nd best for xG and 3rd best for expected goal involvement. He is 2nd best for touches in the box (49) and shots in the box (22). With his double gameweek in GW25, he is a great captaincy shout for those who own him.
