GW25 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of Deadline

FPL GW24 is just done and dusted but we don’t have time to rest as the next deadline is around the corner. Last week proved to be a great one for differential assets with Mahrez, Olise, Ramsey, Countinho all showing how trusting a few lower-owned assets and getting in on their bandwagon could help you climb ranks easily. In this blog, we have identified a few of the top differential options to consider for FPL GW25.

Link to all our FPL Gameweek 25 blogs. Our blogs cover a wide range of topics including the Best wildcard team, Chip strategy, Captaincy metrics, differentials, and more. The best thing is that every blog is completely free to access:)

FPL GW25 Differential Picks(<10% TSB)

Maupay(6.5) vs Watford(A), Manchester United(A)- TSB: 6.7%

FPL GW25 Differentials ~ Maupay

Brighton and Manchester United are among the two teams to have the Double Gameweek in GW25. It is not just the Double Gameweek to target for Maupay, but with the good run of fixtures till GW28- Watford(A), United(A), Burnley(H), Villa(H), Newcastle(A). Maupay has 3 assists in his last 3 starts for Brighton and would like to take advantage of it against Watford and United who have just 2 combined clean sheets between over the past 13 games. With the lack of good mid-priced striker options, Maupay is surely a good differential ahead of FPL GW25 and beyond.

Maupay- Key stat:

Since GW14, Maupay has returned in 6 games out of his last 7 starts he has made fetching 3 goals, 3 assists fetching 40 FPL points averaging 5.7 points per start.

Robertson vs Burnley(A), TSB: 5.6%

FPL GW25 Differentials ~ Robertson

Jota has won the first round of ‘Jota vs Robertson‘ battle in GW24 by getting 2 goals and 16 points compared to Robertson’s 6 points. But with Salah and Mane fully back from GW25 onwards and Diaz having an impressive debut, Liverpool now have 5 quality attackers to choose for the 3 forward positions. Jota could be a victim of rotation in the upcoming weeks. If you don’t have either of Jota/Robertson or on a wildcard right now it is advisable to go for Robertson in the longer run due to more assured minutes in the upcoming weeks.

Robertson has 1 goal, 7 assists in his last 9 games and with an attractive DGW26 against Norwich and Leeds, he is the one who will help you climb up ranks at just 5.6% ownership.

Robertson- Key numbers:

  • Since GW13, Robertson is top for Assists(7), Big chances created(6), xA- 3.35 and 2nd most for FPL points(72) averaging 8.25 points/game in the league.

Rashford vs Southampton(H), Brighton(H)- TSB: 1.3%

FPL GW25 Differentials ~ Rashford

Rashford is slowly getting back to his old self with 2 goals from his last 2 sub appearances in the league before blanking in GW24 against Burnley. Despite blanking against Burnley, Rashford got into good shooting positions(3 shots inside the box, xG-0.40) and made Pope make a couple of decent saves. Southampton are the kind of team who love to attack and leave the spaces behind for opposition wingers to run it which is a good thing for Rashford. Also, Southampton’s away record this season defensively are very poor as suggested by the below numbers.

Southampton Away defensive numbers:

  • 26 goals conceded(20th)
  • 33 big chances conceded(20th)
  • Non-penalty Expected Goals Conceded- 20.6(18th)
  • 109 shots inside box conceded(15th)

Sancho vs Rashford in GW24(First time they started together since GW16):

  • Shots inside the box- 3 vs 3
  • Shots on target- 0 vs 2
  • Expected goals- 0.11 vs 0.40
  • Expected assists- 0.22 vs 0.19

Sancho had a really impressive game against Burnley, but Rashford is the better FPL pick due to his ability to get in goal-scoring positions.

Mahrez vs Norwich(A), TSB: 3.2%

FPL GW25 Differentials ~ Mahrez

After being majorly on the bench in the first half of the season, Mahrez is slowly becoming a key figure again for Pep Guardiola. The Algerian has 5 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 Premier League starts registering 54 points during the period(4 double-digit hauls). Yes, you read that right, and is yet owned by just 3% of managers.

Pep heaped praise on Mahrez’s penalty-taking skills plus the fact that he was subbed off early only solidifies his starting chances this week against Norwich. Although Norwich have a decent defensive stability now under Dean Smith, the champions can blow out any defence on their day.

Ramsey vs Newcastle(A), TSB: 4.4%

FPL GW25 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of Deadline

FPL GW25 Differentials ~ Ramsey

Aston Villa’s starboy exploded massively against Leeds in GW23 with a two-goal mega haul much to the delight of FPL managers that trusted and started him. He’s an integral part of Gerrard’s team now and has started every game since GW15 with four goals and an assist to his name during the period(46 points).

Ramsey FPL points this season
[stats taken from FFSCOUT]

He’s also the second-highest scoring Villa player in FPL this season behind Martinez and the highest scoring Villa FPL asset since Gerrard took over in GW12.

Jacob Ramsey heatmap
[heatmap taken from FFSCOUT]

Ramsey numbers since Countinho joined Villa(GW22):

  • Goals ~ 3 (Joint highest in the league)
  • Shots ~ 4
  • Shots inside the box ~ 4
  • Shots on target ~ 4
  • Big Chances ~ 3 (2nd highest in the league)
  • xG ~ 1.51 (Fourth highest in the league)
  • Big chances Created ~ 1
  • xA ~ 0.57
  • Assists ~ 1

Ramsey’s heatmap is an interesting one especially the spots to the edge of the box and inside the box. Now with Coutinho creating chances for the Villa attack, Ramsey has begun to thrive even more. He’s always been a clinical finisher and now with the quality of chances being created, we’ll be seeing a lot more of Ramsey’s involvement in the coming games.

Laporte vs Norwich(A), TSB: 9.6%

FPL GW25 Differentials ~ Laporte

Manchester City started with a back four of Cancelo- Laporte- Dias- Stones with Stones as right back in the GW24 fixture against Brentford. Stones and Ake started as the center back pair for the FA cup game last weekend. This means that, Dias and Laporte are the first choice center back pair at the club. Laporte has also managed to play 90 minutes in all the league game since GW16(9 matches) and has returned points in all the games- 2 goals, 2 assists, 6 clean sheets. He is always a threat inside the box and a City defense double up isn’t a bad option despite the single gameweek fixtures.

Laporte- Stat attack:

  • Joint second for FPL points(64) in the league since GW16.
  • 2nd for shots inside the box(10), Joint 2nd for big chances(2), 3rd best xG(1.29), joint most goals(2) among defenders since GW16.
  • City have the most clean sheets(6) in the league since GW16.
