GW3 Review:

GW3 was another Gameweek that was marred with a failed Bruno captaincy pick. I’d had the captaincy armband on Antonio all week but was never comfortable with it. Bruno against a Southampton defence that leaked 3 goals in GW1. But once again, Antonio delivered with 11 points vs Bruno’s 2 and this was the difference between a red and green arrow for me. 54 points which was the exact average score and a rank drop from 677k > 982k. I was very happy with Salah, Greenwood and Antonio getting returns plus Luke Shaw’s clean sheet and TAA ‘mystery’ bonus points. It wasn’t a terrible Gameweek, but with how high scoring the start of the season has been for a lot in the community, this felt like a massive failure of a Gameweek.

FPL GW3 Review

Players to monitor for me:

Jota, Traore, Jiménez and Ronaldo for me. Jota could be a longer-term pick for most of Firmino is out for a few weeks and is another great way into Liverpool’s attack. The Wolves fixture swing looks good and Traore’a underlying stats look impressive. Jiménez could be my transfer in this week but I’m not 100% convinced by Wolves’ attack as of yet. Of course Ronaldo- I could do Bruno/ Ings > Ronaldo/£9.9m Mid. However, I don’t want to get rid of Bruno for a hit and Newcastle as home is still a fantastic fixture for Bruno.

FPL GW4 Transfer plan/ watch list going forwards:

At the time of writing this I have made no transfers. I have one free transfer for GW4 and my planned move was Ings > DCL. I’m just waiting to see if we hear anymore on if DCL is match fit. If he is then I’ll do this move but it’ll be quite late on I imagine. I know a lot have activated their wildcard to get Ronaldo in mostly, or for some Lukaku. I can see a good reason to do this if you need to restructure your team or see if feasible to get one of those in. However, it’s still too early to wildcard in my opinion. There is not a lot of data or performances we can go off and I’m not sure I’d use it effectively right now. For me, I’m either going to want to use it in GW7 for the fixture swings where Chelsea have favourable fixtures and United less so, or I’d plan for that and use it a lot later. I had thoughts of doing Bruno/Ings > Ronaldo/£9.9m MID but I just can’t pull that trigger. Bruno could be very valuable again this Gameweek.

FPL GW4 tips 👀

You really have to play your own game. Don’t get drawn into others, perhaps bigger FPL accounts in the community too who are wildcarding, getting Ronaldo/ Lukaku in at all costs. You’ve got to look at your team and analyse how you’ve done so far and if you feel your team is well set up. If you feel it is, then do your planned moves and feel satisfied with that. Sure, I’m going to feel gutted if Ronaldo scores a hattrick on the weekend and Bruno blanks, but, I’m satisfied I’ve made a good decision so I’m happy to back myself with why I chose to do what I did.

FPL GW4 Team:

FPL Gameweek 4 team reveal

As already mentioned, Ings will become DCL if he’s declared fit and I do hope so as I don’t really want Ings vs Chelsea as I can’t see Villa getting many chances in that game. Overall, I’m happy with my team and I don’t see many areas that need immediate attention. I’ve gone with Bruno captain again for the third Gameweek in a row. I can’t see how he blanks again and if Ronaldo starts against Newcastle too then I’d be a lot more confident in Bruno getting something. Ronaldo I think is the desirable captain this week but we shouldn’t write Bruno off. He’s proved that he can score from nothing and I’m happy again with my captain choice.

This week I’ve had to go 3-5-2 with Ayling and Amartey not having favourable defensive fixtures. This means Brownhill gets his first start for my team and I do hope as my £4.5m bench fodder his 2 points can get banked. He didn’t start the first game for Burnley which had me panicking I’d picked a benched player but he’s started the previous two games for Burnley. The rest of my team look good on paper with West Ham, United abs Liverpool all having fixtures where they should perform well. I’m also hoping Brighton can sneak a clean sheet away to Brentford too.

GW3 Review

I’m happy with my GW3 score, 54 points doesn’t sound huge after my opening 2 gameweeks but it is a solid score and builds on my decent start. If I had just captained Antonio instead of Bruno (Palace bias) then I would’ve had a great score. Antonio, Salah and Greenwood again did well for me. Trent, Shaw and Ings also chipping in. So all in all, a solid gameweek.

FPL GW4 Plan

This could be the first week where big changes are needed. I am very happy with how my team has performed so far but as with FPL, things change quickly. For example, Cristiano Ronaldo has joined the Premier League. For the first time this season I am planning multiple changes. I am waiting right until the deadline to make these changes as with most international breaks, there are injuries and suspensions to deal with, so I want to hear the press conferences before making my moves.

FPL GW4 Team

With Aston Villa’s fixtures turning for the worst, Ings and Cash are likely to be transferred out. However, I also need Cristiano Ronaldo if he is expected to start so Bruno Fernandes may have to make way to free up funds. Calvert-Lewin, CR7, Lukaku, Jota, Torres and Semedo are all on my watchlist. Sorry to not report any direct changes but mine will be made right at the very last minute! Captaincy will be with either Salah or CR7 if he comes in!

FPL GW4 Tips

As mentioned last week, the international break always throws up injuries or delays. Especially with the uncertainty around the Covid situation, having 2 transfers to fix any major problems that pop up over the break could be key for building on a good start to the season. So, if you do have two transfers, use them, make the team set up how you are happy with it. If you need to take a -4 to make you happy, then do it. Any more than a -4 I’d use the wildcard, sort your team out so you are happy to take on the coming gameweeks!

GW3 Review

FPL GW3 Review

The standout performance of Gameweek 3 was my Captain, Michail Antonio (£7.9), who managed to get a goal and an assist against Palace. It came down to the wire and I was 50/50 on captaincy between Bruno Fernandes (£12.0) and Antonio (£7.9). However, I’m lucky I went with the ‘punt’ of the West Ham man who ended up saving my gameweek in the end. Besides that, it was Greenwood’s (£7.7)  late strike at Wolves that earned him that 8 pointer, but will he stay in my Gameweek 4 team?

FPL Gameweek 4 Transfer Plans and Watchlist

The International Break has given all managers time to ponder and look for ways to deal with the absolute carnage of an ending to the transfer window. One man’s name is on everyone’s lips going into Gameweek 4, Cristiano Ronaldo (£12.5). Having 2 Free Transfers coming into this week has been an impeccable decision as there are many spots in my team that I will be looking to sanction transfers. Mainly Ings (£8.0) & Barnes (£6.8) to the likes of Torres (£7.1), Traore (£6.0), Ronaldo (£12.5) or Jota (£7.6) among the potential transfers in.

Tips for FPL GW4 to climb up ranks

If you have made the decision to hit the Wildcard button ahead of Gameweek 4, you should look to include players with good fixtures in the short term as well as develop a plan to cope with fixture swings in the medium to long term.

A few players that I like, if I were to Wildcard this week, would be Jimenez (£7.4), Traore (£6.0) and a Wolves defender who have the best run of fixtures among teams until GW14. Inevitably, I would look to get a premium striker in my forward line with Ronaldo (£12.5) being the obvious pick as of now.
As for those, like myself, who haven’t yet hit that Wildcard button, I would definitely urge you to hold your transfers if you haven’t already made them until we get clarity on the situation with the Brazil National Team, and get updates on injuries from the managers’ press conferences.

Potential FPL GW4 Team + Captaincy

FPL Gameweek 4 team reveal

This is how I’ll be lining up for Gameweek 4. As you might realise, I haven’t made my transfers yet which would be Ings (£8.0) and Fernandes (£12.0) to Ronaldo (£12.5) and Jota (£7.6). A decision will be made close to the deadline barring any drastic news to the players in concern.

However, one transfer was made early where I transferred Barnes (£6.8) out to Torres (£7.1) before the former dropped in price.

As for Captaincy, I can see no further than Ronaldo (£12.5) at home to Newcastle. He will be making his second debut for the club and will be determined to get off to a flying start in front of the Old Trafford crowd. It is looking likely that he will be on Penalties which only boosts his prowess leading the line for Manchester United.
