FPL GW4: Goalkeepers Analysis

1. José Sá [£5m] :

Jose Sa ~ FPL goalkeepers to target from FPL GW4
Fixture advantage certainly puts him on top.
Goals conceded - 3
Clean sheet - 0
Saves per game - 3.7 (79%)
Saves made - 11
Saves from inside the box - 7
Saves from outside the box - 4

A poor start to the campaign for Wolves, I would rather say they were a bit unlucky, before the campaign began we thought with the new high line system imposed by Bruno Lage they might leak too many goals but they adapted very efficiently, now they can settle down a bit a rethink as this international break came in at a very crucial stage for teams who were underperforming a bit. Wolves faced Leicester City, Tottenham, and Manchester United in the first 3 games, now they come into an easy FDR zone. He can be a real differential as well as he is owned by only 0.9% of managers but his owner count will definitely increase for obvious reasons.

The fact that Wolves don’t meet a single top 6 club from GW 4-14 makes him our top contender for this list.

2. Robert Sánchez [£4.5] :

Sanchez, Yes or No?
Goals conceded - 3
Clean sheet - 1
Saves per game - 2.0 (67%)
Saves made - 6
Saves from inside the box - 3
Saves from outside the box -3

You don’t have enough balance to take Jose Sa? Well, there is an alternative to him, Brighton to has a pretty good clean sheet record. Brighton had a very unlucky 20/21 campaign, but this season they have started strongly, already registering a clean sheet against Watford.

Brighton have a very disciplined defensive line, they face Leicester City in GW 5, Manchester City in GW 9, and Liverpool in GW 10 so you can use a rotation keeper to bench Sanchez in these weeks. One of my preferred rotation pick is Robert Sanchez and Daniel Bachmann.

3. David Raya [£4.6] :

David Raya ~ FPL goalkeepers to target from FPL GW4
Not a bad option either, isn’t it?
Goals conceded - 1
Clean sheet - 2
Saves per game - 3.3 (91%)
Saves made - 10
Saves from inside the box - 7
Saves from outside the box - 3

Raya started the season very well, bagging valuable clean sheets against Arsenal and Crystal Palace which makes him a very valuable keeper at his price tag. If you’re thinking of activating the wildcard in GW 4 then he might not be a very suitable option as the fixtures are against him from GW 6, they face 2 of the top 6 clubs from GW 6 to GW 10 with the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Brentford’s 3 men defensive structure often provides a suitable cover for their keeper and gives stability to the system. He’s also on top of the Baseline Bonus Points System, Raya has a great distribution as well while playing out from the back.

4. Vicente Guaita [£4.5] :

Vincente Guaita ~ FPL goalkeepers to target from FPL GW4
How about some differential?

Goals conceded - 1.7
Clean sheet - 1
Saves per game - 2.7 (62%)
Saves made - 8
Saves from inside the box - 6
Saves from outside the box - 2

He’s another wildcard option, great run of fixture, only that he faces Liverpool in GW 5 but if you can rotate with a keeper from your bench for example Wolves faces Brentford, Leeds faces Newcastle, Watford faces Norwich, Leno faces Burnley in GW 5, but after GW 5 Guaita does not face any top 6 club until GW 10. At his price he is more than a descent option and he can be a real differential as well with only 5.4% managers having him in their team.

You can look at the above stat and you can see that Gauita is right at the top for Baseline Bonus Points System and Crystal Palace often plays from the back so his distribution is a key as well.

The metrics has been delivering consistently with a 100% record this year. 5. Illan Meslier [£5.0] :

Illan Meslier ~ FPL goalkeepers to target from FPL GW4
Long Term option to think about 🤔
Goals conceded - 2.7
Clean sheet - 0
Saves per game - 3.7 (58%)
Saves made - 11
Saves from inside the box - 7
Saves from outside the box - 4

Leeds have an excellent run of fixture from GW 5 as they do not face any of the big 6 clubs in that phase, Leeds defense has been a concern as they often looked shaky and unsettled at times. During last season, Meslier had almost similar point per match average with Ederson as he often had to be indulged in saves.

Last season, Meslier was ranked 2nd with most bonus point and 4th with most clean sheets. He finished as the third top-scoring goalkeeper in the game on 154 points, combining 11 clean sheets with 20 bonus and 36 save points. Leeds had a huge defensive transformation in the later half of the campaign where they improved their goal conceded rank from 19th to 5th and big chances conceded from 19th to 6th these data clearly shows how improved Leeds United defense has been since then.

6. Daniel Bachmann [£4.5] :

Daniel Bachmann ~ FPL goalkeepers to target from FPL GW4
Could be a nice option as well.
Goals conceded - 3
Clean sheet - 0
Saves per game - 2.7 (62%)
Saves made - 8
Saves from inside the box - 4
Saves from outside the box - 4

The next 4 fixtures are excellent for Watford, although they haven’t looked great in the first 3 fixtures but they brought in some good midfielders with the likes of Sissoko who might help to protect their defense which they lacked, he was very influential in Watford’s promotion to Premier League. He had the most clean sheets (23) and also conceded the least goal in the campaign.

It’ll be interesting to see how he performs, to be honest, it includes a high risk of taking him into your team and can affect your overall rank in a negative way.
