After 5/6 hits on the mark last week, FPL Insights is back with his FPL Gameweek 3 analysis ~ Buy, Hold and Sell article with 2 players within each category. The article intentionally omits the “obvious” targets like the Hammer’s duo Benny/Antonio, to give you a few options outside of the popular movements in the market!

Before going further do vote for us in the Football Content Awards Finals under the Best in Fantasy Football Editorials category. Also, vote for Net That Haul for Best in Fantasy Football Video. You can leave the other options to be blank as well. It will take just two mins and would mean so much for all of us involved. Here is also a link to all our FPL Gameweek 3 blogs

FPL Gameweek 3 Analysis ~ Buy, Hold, Sell
Players to BUY Ahead of FPL GW3
Raphinha | Cost – 6.5m | TSB – 17.1%
Raphinha picked up the pace before the start of the season and was employed by a lot of managers before GW1.
However, post his blank against Manchester United in GW1 and uncertainty around his availability following international breaks saw his popularity decrease.
He was shipped out by ~150k managers post GW1
However, the Premier League has officially declared to not release players for international matches played in red-list countries next month. To top it, he scored against Everton to reward the managers who kept faith in him with 7 points
If you are already stacked with the likes of Benny and Greenwood, he could be a good option to cover a brilliant run of fixtures that awaits him starting against Burnley.
Around 126k managers have already brought him in ahead on GW2

A. Armstrong | Cost – 6m | TSB – 3%
Another asset that is not as popular as other forwards in FPL right now but gaining popularity little by little.
Around 84k managers have already brought him in this week.
While he blanked against Manchester United, the instructions given to him seem quite clear from the two matches he has played – press from the top and pounce on the loose ones
Southampton’s fairly attacking mindset boosts his appeal as an FPL asset and his 6m price tag is a blessing if you have lost patience on Brentford’s number 9.
He is joint 3rd on BCs and SOT and first on my favorite “Importance to Team“. If you did not know what that is, let me introduce you to a fancy term for a very basic metric.
Armstrong’s team importance is 67%. While the data is pretty thin right now, but you have to see the early signs right?
His fixtures do not inspire confidence at the first look. But, contrary to the pre-season odds, WHU and WOL at home do not look so bad after seeing Saint’s performance against United at home and New Castle are conceding for fun!

Players to Hold ahead of FPL GW3
Digne | Cost – 5.5m | TSB – 15.5%
I know it hurts to get 2 points from 2 matches from any player, never mind a 5.5m defender. It certainly hasn’t been a great start for Digne and Everton in general (defensively).
Though he is not far in putting up the underlying attacking stats. His 10 corners in the box is joint 1st and 5 successful crosses put him joint 3rd in the list. We are yet to see the full attacking freedom we expect from Digne and maybe the upcoming run of fixtures help with that
He has already been shown the door by ~180k managers this week itself but in my opinion, this transfer can wait, at least till Chelsea’s fixture turn in GW7.

Barnes | Cost – 6.9m | TSB – 9.9%
If you are ranging on this name, then it makes two of us!
His has already been transferred out by ~132k managers this week and ~260k managers across 2 weeks leading to a drop in his price.
While the disappointment is understandable, I believe we should wait for the fixture against Norwich. Norwich were quite open against two of the most attacking teams and their style of play may play into the hands of Barnes’ runs past the defense line!
Before going further to the players to sell section, Do vote in this week’s FPL Gameweek 3 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by@AK_FPL1. The metrics has been delivering consistently with a success of more than 80% since debuting in GW29 last year and is absolutely free. Stay tuned for the same. Last week the metric predicted Mahrez ahead of Salah and Bruno and he scored a goal!

Players to Sell ahead of FPL GW3
Toney | Cost – 6.5m | TSB – 24.9%
With forwards firing left, right and center, moving out Toney is a move your team is begging for!
More than 460k managers have parted ways with him and it’s about time he drops in price. Brentford l
Brentford are in the bottom half for goals, expected goals, and big chance created. But more than Brentford, what’s hurting FPL managers is his individual performance and role in the team.
He had zero BC in the 2 matches, attempted only 4 SIB and his importance to the team was just 21%. With that service and role in the team, it’s difficult to foresee consistent returns from him.
To add to that, his fixtures do not look encouraging, especially after Brentford’s performance against Palace.

Gündogan | Cost – 7.4m | TSB – 5.5%
A lot of us expected more from Gündogan than he produced in the two matches, especially against Norwich.
With just 2 attempted shots (1 SIB and 0 SOT), he has offered little throughout the two GWs. Things are not better for creativity as well – 2 key passes and 0 BCC. He has not started in the best of forms this season.
KDB is getting closer to a start and with him on the pitch, Gündogan’s average positioning will take a further hit.
He has already got 73k transfer outs this week and as more & more managers are looking to part ways it could be time for you as well to say goodbye!
