FPL Forward Options – A changing of the Guard in the Final Few Weeks?

Kane, Vardy, and Iheanacho have been stalwarts of my attack for the last month or so and have done extremely well for me. Especially Kane and Iheanacho. However, as we all know with FPL things change quickly and I am looking to attack the last three-game weeks with none of these three in my strike force! Kane was ditched for the DGW35 hype and with the Leicester blank in 36 Vardy and Iheanacho are next to be shown the door. In this article, I will be assessing the best striker options for the final three-game weeks to really push you up your mini-leagues!

FPL Forwards to Consider For The Last Three Gameweeks(FPL GW36 ~ GW38) of the Season

Dominic Calvert-Lewin £7.6, TSB: 30.8%

DCL could be a very solid option for the last three weeks ~ FPL Forwards
DCL could be a very solid option for the last three weeks

DCL was the must-own forward at the start of this Premier League season, scoring goals for fun. He seems to have been a bit of a forgotten man in recent weeks. However, the only goal in the game against West Ham has put DCL back on the radar for FPL managers. An extremely attractive fixture against Sheffield United (H) in 36 leaves DCL a genuine captaincy option. With another good fixture against Wolves (H) in 37 and then a game against Manchester City (A) who will already have won the league and have an eye on the Champions League final there may be plenty of opportunities for DCL to score goals. With an xG of 2.85 over the last 6 games and 12 shots in the box, DCL is basically guaranteed chances over the final 3 game weeks.

Michail Antonio £6.4, TSB: 5.7%

 Antonio ~ FPL Forwards
Antonio is back😎

Michail Antonio was well and truly back with a bang in GW34 with a match-winning brace against Burnley. A disappointing blank against Everton in GW35 may have put some FPL managers off but I think Antonio has a lot to give in the final few weeks. West Ham are still fighting for European places and have a really nice run of fixtures starting with Brighton (A) followed by already-relegated West Brom (A) and finishing with a lackluster Southampton (H). Everyone has been focussing on Jesse Lingard as the main man for the Hammers but I think Antonio will have something to say about that in the run-in.

Patrick Bamford £6.3, TSB: 38.8%

Patrick Bamford ~ FPL Forwards
Back in the business

Bamford has been a brilliant FPL asset all season long. Playing in a free-flowing Leeds team Bamford has excelled in front of goal. Some teams at this stage of the season show some let-up but Bielsa definitely won’t allow that. With Raphinha back and a favorable run of fixtures starting with Burnley (A), followed by Southampton (A). Leeds then finish the season in front of fans in the Premier League once again against West Brom. Elland Road will be graced with fans urging Leeds to finish the season strong and I’m sure Bamford will want nothing more than to score a goal in front of fans again.

Chris Wood £6.4, TSB: 3.5%

Chris Wood

The in-form striker in the league at the moment. Chris Wood is scoring goals for fun. The old saying is always form or fixtures? Well, Wood has incredible form and good fixtures to finish the season. Starting with Leeds (H) Wood will fancy a goal in that one. Then against a Liverpool side at Turf Moor with fans back. Facing Liverpool is not as daunting as it has been in former years. Burnley then finish the season with a trip to Sheffield United. I think many rank chasers will be captaining Chris Wood in this one. A great final fixture for Chris Wood to finish off another great campaign by the New Zealander.

Sergio Aguero £10.3, TSB: 1.3%

 Sergio Aguero ~ FPL Forwards
One last time?

One last ride? Sergio Aguero has been an FPL legend for many many years now. Always reliable to score goals every season. The 20/21 season has been tough on Aguero, struggling with both injuries and Covid has really limited his involvement in Man City’s title charge. With Aguero leaving the Etihad at the end of the season he will fancy one last push for goals in the Man City shirt. With Aguero seemingly out of the first team at Man City, he will more likely get minutes in the Premier League as Pep rotates his starters before the Champions League final. With Newcastle (A) followed by Brighton (A) and finishing with Everton (H), Aguero will be pushing for more goals to add to his ridiculous goal-scoring tally. With fans allowed back in stadiums for every club’s last home game, don’t bet against Sergio putting smiles on those fans faces one last time.

Special mentions

I fully expect Harry Kane to continue to score goals but have committed to life without Harry so if you have Kane I would hold him. Callum Wilson was definitely going to be one to target but his injury, unfortunately, rules him out for the rest of the season.

My front line for the final three weeks of the season will consist of DCL, Antonio, and Bamford. However, I’m not ruling out one last throw of the dice on Aguero in GW38. Just for nostalgia, who’s with me?
