AllAboutFPL GW3 Scout Team

Heading into FPL GW3 the AllaboutFPL Scout Team will be opting for a 3-4-3 formation and utilising a budget of 83.5m for our chosen 11. Our bench will typically consist of players of the lowest price to enable us to field our strongest team each week.

After a promising start in GW1 which saw our AllaboutFPL Dream Team pick up 72 points, our GW2 team failed to live up to expectations as we racked up an underwhelming 44pts. Only 3 of our starting 11 produced some sort of return, with Richarlison gaining a majority of the points with his 12 point haul. James Justin was the only other goalscorer for us in GW2 returning 7 points, with captain Aubameyang picking up 10 points for a single assist.

But let’s not dwell, we move on to GW3 and with the AllaboutFPL team determined to bounce back with a bang, we present to you our picks for the GW3 Dream Team.

FPL Scout Team

GK – Martinez (4.5m)

Martinez has quickly become one of the most sought after goalkeepers following his move from Arsenal to Aston Villa, and he was quick to repay the faith shown in him for those who got him in from the get-go. Picking up a clean sheet and saving a Lord Lundstram penalty, Martinez picked up 13pts in GW2. He looked solid throughout and could be a great shout as this year’s set and forget keeper.

Defence – James (5m.1) Saiss (5.1m) Digne (6.1m)

James seems to be the preferred choice at Right-back for Frank Lampard at the minute and with an appealing fixture against newly-promoted West Brom, we suspect Chelsea could be in amongst the goals here. James has shown us what he can do after picking up a goal and assist in GW1 and we are banking on him getting us some returns this weekend too, with the potential to keep a clean sheet.

We are hoping Saiss can continue to show his attacking threat whilst remaining resolute at the back, as he did in GW1 against Sheffield United.

Digne has been creating a lot of chances for Everton in recent weeks and was unfortunate not to have picked up another assist against West Brom last weekend. He is sharing corners and freekick duties with James Rodriguez, and if he can keep whipping balls into the box, then it’s only a matter of time before he picks up another assist.

Midfield – Salah (12.1m) De Bruyne (11.6m) Son (9.0m) Podence (5.5m)

Mo Salah failed to get on the scoresheet for us last week against Chelsea, but we have decided to keep faith with the Egyptian for GW3. With an impressive record against Arsenal in previous fixtures, and playing on home turf, we feel Mo will be back to scoring ways this weekend.

Kevin De Bruyne didn’t take long to open his premier league goal-scoring account in GW2 against Wolves. He scored a penalty and was a little fortunate to pick up an assist later in the game. With City being without the likes of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, we are backing the Belgian to pick up the baton and be amongst the goals this weekend against Leicester.

Heung-Min Son bagged four goals last weekend against a shakey Southampton defence. With this week’s opponents Newcastle losing 0-3 at Home to Brighton last week, we feel Son has every chance to continue his scoring spree. He picked up a goal and two assists midweek in the Europa League qualifiers, so it looks like he is in fine form.

Podence comes in as a little bit of a punt. At 5.5m he looks like he could offer some good value if he can keep his place in the Wolves lineup. He has 2 assists to his name so far in the opening two-game weeks, and if you can nutmeg Kevin De Bruyne before putting the ball in the box to assist Raul Jimènez, then in our book you deserve a place in our team on merit.

Forwards – Werner (9.5m) Jimènez (8.5m) Wood (6.5m)

Timo Werner is yet to get his first premier league goal, but many FPL managers will be hoping the fixture against West Brom will be the perfect opportunity to put an end to his two-game drought. He has been considered by many for captaincy for this week, and we feel that once he gets his first goal, he should be up and running for many more to follow.

Raul Jimènez is living up to his Mr.Consistent reputation. Two goals in two starts so far. We fancy him to continue his goal-scoring run this week against a West Ham side that has failed to impress so far this campaign.

Chris Wood notched his first goal of the season last week against Leicester. Up against a suspect Southampton defence, we feel he has a chance of picking up another goal or two. There will surely be chances for Burnley in this one, so let’s hope Wood can do the business for us.

FPL GW3 Captain pick

Captaincy

For captaincy, we have decided to go for Kevin De Bruyne. He was exceptional against Wolves last week and we fancy Man City to do well against Leicester City this weekend.

Mo Salah remains in our thinking, but with a slightly more difficult fixture against Arsenal, De Bruyne just edges it for us. There was talk of De Bruyne potentially missing the game against Leicester, after a blow to the head. Pep Guardiola has since said De Bruyne had “a little bit of distortion, but in general, feels good.” The Premier League stipulate that if a player is concussed, they will need to be out of action for 6 days. Mo Salah will therefore take the vice-captains armband, just in case De Bruyne does miss out.
