HeIlo FPL Managers! That was a crazy end to GW30+ with most managers crossing the century mark for the first time. If you still have your free hit chip in FPL left, FPL GW31+ is one of the best possible weeks to use the free hit chip. The main reason being the relatively easy fixtures for forwards. Vardy up against Brighton, Jimenez against Bournemouth, DCL/Richarlison against struggling Norwich and Mane/Salah against Palace.
Free Hit now, Wildcard in GW33+ seems to be a good strategy due to the fixture swing from GW33+. Wildcard in GW33+ can help you fire up your team with City assets who would have completed Chelsea and Liverpool games by then. Also, most of the teams who had good fixtures for GW30+ should hold good for GW32+. So your GW30+ team should do good for GW32+ and free hit in GW31+. Check out the blog to know the best FPL GW31+ free hit team.

Best Free Hit team for GW31+
Goal Keepers:
Pickford(5.2) vs Norwich, TSB: 6.3%
Everton got their first cleansheet since GW22 against Liverpool on Sunday. Everton looked sharp in defense against Liverpool and would like to continue their form against Norwich. Pickford also picked up two bonus points vs Liverpool.
Bench Fodder – Button(3.9)
Defenders:
Doherty(6.3) vs Bournemouth, TSB: 10.0% :
Doherty seems to be a obvious pick with 52 points from last seven games averaging 7.4 points per game with one goal, three assists and four cleansheets.
Key stats:
- Nine attacking returns this season only behind TAA(11).
- Most touches in opposition box for a defender(79)
Arnold(7.8) vs Crystal Palace, TSB: 42.6%:
Liverpool still need 5 points to win the title. He seems to be the second auto-pick in the squad courtesy the staggering stats this season- 2 goals, 14 assists, 12 cleansheets,19 bonus points. It will be madness to leave him out in a wildcard/free hit team.
Soyuncu(4.9) vs Brighton(H), TSB:15.5%:
Soyuncu is up against a Brighton side who have just scored 10 goals this year, three of them coming against West Ham. Leicester looked solid defensively for most part of the game against Watford only to concede to a spectacular Dawson goal in injury time. Leicester would want to avoid conceding such late goals to ensure their CL spot!
Lascelles(4.3) vs Aston Villa(H), TSB: 5.6%:
Lascelles seems to be a good option against Aston Villa who have been struggling to score goals of late. Newcastle have kept three successive clean sheets and there should not be much difficulty to add to it. Newcastle have 10 clean sheets so far, 8 of them have come when Lascelles started.
Bench Fodder- Simpson(3.9)

Midfielders :
Heung-Min Son(9.7) vs West Ham, TSB: 6.8%
Son has very fond memories of facing London rivals this season banging in 13 points in the reverse fixture in GW13. The fully fit Spurs attack courtesy Kane is finally back in action. They were not that convincing against United, but don’t expect West Ham to offer the same resilience. In fact, they have been kind to attackers this season with second-worst xGA(58.35) and third-worst among goals conceded(52).
Key numbers :
- Most goal contributions(18) for Spurs with 9 goals and 9 assists.
- Most shots/game(2.4) and Most big chances created(10)

Kevin De Bruyne(10.6) vs Chelsea, TSB: 51.2%
De Bruyne is always a must-own in FPL, only subject to Pep and rotation risks. But, he is most likely to get the start against his former club after coming on as a substitute against Burnley. He is probably the safest/best City asset to pick for GW31+. He would be eager to get more than a goal(which he got in the reverse fixture).
Richarlison(8.3) vs Norwich, TSB: 10.8%
Richarlison walks into the free hit team courtesy Everton playing Norwich City. Norwich have conceded the most goals in the league(55) and have the third worst xGA(55.31) in the league. Listed as a midfielder in FPL, starting as a second-striker under Ancelotti, results have started to kick-in. He has led the team admirably in attack with most goal contributions(15).
Fernandes(8.6) vs Sheffield United, TSB: 19.1%
Bruno may or may not be the man what United needed. But he is FPL midfielder what everyone wanted. He is on all set-pieces, attacks well, shoots with the goal in sight. He has 45 points from his last 5 games averaging 9 points/game. Perhaps Sheffield United without their primary stopper Henderson is the next bunny on Bruno’s list.
Saka(4.7) vs Southampton will be the first sub in the free hit team and would complete the midfield for our FPL GW31+ Free hit team.

Forwards:
Raul Jimenez(8.1) vs Bournemouth(H), TSB: 31.6%
Jimenez is probably the no-rotation player from Wolves who has played 90 minutes in most of the Wolves games despite Europa League fixtures. He looks to be a set and go player even till the end of the season.
Key stats:
- Bournemouth last kept a clean sheet in GW17 and that’s their only cleansheet in GW11
- Jimenez scored against Bournemouth in the reverse fixture in GW13.
Calvert-Lewin(6.5) vs Norwich(A), TSB: 13%
Calvert-Lewin has been really brilliant in his break- through season for the club. He completes the Everton triple-up against Norwich in the free hit team. He has 5 goals in his last 8 games and would be in the thick of things against Canaries.
Bench Fodder- Nketiah(4.4) vs Southampton, TSB: 1.8%
Nketiah would be the 15th man in the squad and would play the bench- fodder in this free hit team.
Final FPL GW31+ Free Hit Team:
Other options considered while selecting this free hit team:
Mane, Barnes, Sarr, Saint-Maximin, Danny Ings
The Gamble:
There is no place for Liverpool attackers in this team. Salah(12.7), Mane(12.5) are too expensive on playing Free Hit. In fact Palace have 4 cleansheets from their last 4 games and it wont be walk in the park for Liverpool. At the maximum, Liverpool could scrap a goal or two against Palace and it’s not worth spending the money on Mane/Salah in free hit.
The alternative combination:
- Nketiah————>Vardy
- Richarlison——> Cantwell
- Doherty———–> Saiss
Formation changes to 3-4-3 with Cantwell, Saka, Simpson on bench. This would be the alternative team in case you need Vardy in your team . That comes at the expense of Richarlison and Doherty and that is too much to sacrifice for my liking. Kane could also be a huge differential for this week against West Ham. You could simply slot in Kane for Vardy and downgrade on the bench mids(Saka, Cantwell) to cheapest options in midfield.
Captain:
There are plenty of captain choices in this team in the form of Jimenez, DCL/Richarlison, Son, and Bruno. All of these have great games to look forward to, but I would be sliding with Son/Vardy for the armband.
Stay tuned for our FPL GW31+ Captain picks!
