In a parallel world, Mo Salah scores a brace at Goodison Park to enlighten the managers who captained him. How Liverpool fans and we FPL managers wish that were true. Phew. We miss football and we miss the fun of playing the fantasy premier league. No headache of picking captains and making right transfers up and till April 30 at least. So, let’s just look away from the future and present and have an overview of what we’ve learnt from this season thus far. In this blog, we will be giving you a list of FPL assets who’ve surpassed expectations in our opinion.
Lord Lundstram
John Lundstram was one of those FPL assets who has played out of position. He was priced at 4.0 mil and so most of us decided to bring him in into our sides.
Lundstram is the 4th highest point scorer for defenders in FPL. He has recorded 4 goals and 4 assists this season. 6 of his 8 returns have come with a clean sheet too. He also has the highest points per million. Let’s all hail him once more!
Danny Ings
This was a long time coming. Of all the FPL assets on this list, Ings is one player who we all knew would come good at some point. The Englishman has registered 15 goals this season– the highest of his career. Incidentally only Aubameyang(29) has recorded more bonus points than Ings(28) this season.
Furthermore, the Saints’ forward has the highest points per million for forwards. Ings also has missed just 5 big chances all season – which is the fewest among the top 15 goal scorers in the league.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
2019/2020 season has been a coming of age so to speak for Everton ‘s Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The forward has found the back of the net 13 times this season, which is more than three of his previous seasons combined (11).
Ominously, the toffees’ number 9 has missed a whopping 14 big chances this season, only 6 other FPL assets have missed more. If he starts converting some of those chances, he might even win the golden boot this campaign.
Dean Henderson
Another Sheffield player on the list. Well, we could easily put all of the FPL assets from their side. Henderson has kept 10 clean sheets this season, a tally bettered only by Nick Pope. The Blades’ shot-stopper has amassed 122 points this season, 6 behind Pope – who has the highest.
The Englishman has played a massive role in Sheffield United holding the second-best defensive record in the league. Chris Wilder ‘s men have conceded just 25 goals, only Liverpool (21) have shipped fewer.
Jordan Ayew
Of all FPL assets in the league, we genuinely believe that Jordan Ayew is the most underrated one. Ayew has scored 8 goals so far this season for a Crystal Palace that hardly create chances. His goals incredibly have given Crystal points a massive 20 points. That is breathtaking.
From an FPL point of view, Ayew has the second-highest points per million value for forwards, after Ings. He has also amassed 19 bonus points, which is more than the likes of Firmino, Kane and Aguero.
Honorable mentions to:
Marcus Rashford
Rashford has 14 goals and 4 assists this season– statistically his best. An injury in January has curtailed his campaign, unfortunately.
Tammy Abraham
Chelsea ‘s number 9 has scored 13 times this season. Not many expected him to perform so well. On the flip side, he has missed 17 big chances in the league, only Jesus, Firmino and Mcgoldrick have missed more.
Nick Pope
Pope has kept 11 clean sheets this season- which is the highest. He also has more points and more bonus points than any other goalkeeper. He has carried on from where left off before he picked up that horrible injury last season.
