Arsenal
Arsenal GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-2-3-1
Arsenal GW8 Predicted lineup:
Raya
Timber – Saliba – Gabriel – Calafiori
Zubimendi – Rice
Eze
Saka – Gyokeres – Trossard
Notes/Injury Updates:
- Odegaard is reportedly expected to be out until mid-November with a knee injury. The Norwegian midfielder was forced off in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over West Ham in GW7, and he was left out of his national team’s squad for this international break.
- Arteta on Odegaard’s fitness in his pre-Fulham presser: “It will be weeks. There’s no definite date for his return, but he’s evolving well. It’s very unlucky, what’s happening with him and his injuries this season, but I think he will be back in a few weeks.”
“It could be [after the next international break], but weโll have to see how he progresses, how the kneeโs healing, how he manages after the next steps in his rehab, so it’s too early to give an answer.” - Zubimendi missed Arsenal’s training yesterday, and while he is available, there’s a chance Merino could start instead of the Spaniard after a busy international break.
- Arteta on why Zubimendi did not train yesterday: “All the players come from different countries, with different amounts of games and minutes played and we believe that it was the right thing to do. He played two games again. His load has been really high recently and he needed an extra day. He will be available.”
- Trossard has started Arsenal’s last 3 fixtures on the left wing and is expected to retain his position in the starting lineup.
- Hinacpie could be available for selection this weekend, according to Arteta, who said, “He will be training today again with us and if everything is right, he will be available as well. We really want that [him playing regularly]. He’s a player who is going to help us a lot, he’s going to bring something different to the team. We need to get him going, get him to the speed that is necessary to compete at this level and gradually to where we want.”
- Madueke is making progress but should still be out for this weekend.
- Arteta on Madueke: “He’s getting closer as well. Heโs going to start very soon to do some running and stuff and then again, letโs see how that reacts.
- Havertz is still out as well, but Arteta has offered an update on his fitness.
- Arteta on Havertz: “It’s very difficult, there’s still a lot to do in his rehab. He’s really pushing it. We know Kai and that’s why we love him so much, but we have to wait and see. I think we are doing some really good work with him again. He wants to break every timeline, I’m sure, but that’s why we have to protect him and make sure that when he comes back, he comes back for the long term.”

Aston Villa
Aston Villa GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-2-2-2
Aston Villa GW8 Predicted Lineup:
Martinez
Cash – Torres – Konsa – Digne
Bogarde – Kamara
McGinn – Rogers
Malen – Watkins
Aston Villa Notes/Injury Updates:
- Unai Emery switched to a 4-2-2-2 formation against Burnley in GW7, a departure from the 4-2-3-1 formation he has preferred. It remains to be seen whether he will continue with his new formation.
- Watkins suffered a nasty knock after a collision with the post in England’s friendly against Wales last week. However, Emery has revealed in his pre-Tottenham press conference that Watkins is available for selection, so he should start.
- Emery on Watkins: “Tomorrow we will train again, and normally he will be ready for Sunday.”
- Buendia and Sancho could return to the fold this weekend as well, according to Emery, who stated: “Both of them are training normally the whole week, and they will be available for Sunday if they are training well tomorrow.โ
- Mings missed last gameweek’s fixture against Burnley with an ankle injury. He was reportedly targeting a return after the international break. His fitness will be assessed ahead of Sunday’s game to decide whether he will be included in the traveling squad. Pau Torres should start if Mings is not deemed fit.
- Emery on Mings: “Heโs getting better, progressively. Heโs training this week individually to add to us. Tomorrow we will see how he is. The idea tomorrow is for him to train with the team and, after the training session, to decide if he will travel with us or not to London.โ

- 4-2-3-1
Bournemouth GW8 Predicted lineup:
Petrovic
Jiminez – Senesi – Diakite – Truffert
Adams – Scott
Tavernier – Kluivert – Semenyo
Evanilson
Bournemouth Team News & Key Notes:
- David Brooks will miss this weekend’s clash against Crystal Palace after picking up a hamstring injury on international duty.
- Iraola on Brooks: “We have had very bad news with Brooksy. He finished the game against Belgium with a small muscle injury. We did an MRI and there is an injury there. He will be out. Itโs not a big muscle injury but obviously, when you get an MRI there is something there. Itโs a small muscle injury in the hamstring.”
“I hope the recovery is as fast as we can but definitely he is out of this game. Even if itโs not a big muscle injury, there is something there.” - Iraola on remaining team news: “We also have to wait on the players that arrived later. Nobody has arrived like Brooksy but I want to see how they are, especially ones that arrived yesterday. We have to check how they are.โ
- Adam Smith is back in training after his hamstring injury he sustained in August, and there’s a chance he may be available for Saturday’s game.
- Iraola on Smith: “Adam has been training quite normally with the team. I donโt think he has the rhythm still, normally after some weeks out but I think he could help us. We will see today, I have to make a decision for the squad. He has been training, he is probably not 100 per cent but he is quite close.โ
- Iraola on Semenyo’s versatility (via BBC Sport): “With his last performance everyone trying to limit his options. He has a good thing that he is playing with us on both wings. We have had the chance to play up front. I think he is better wide but he has done it internationally. So, I think it is better for us because the opposition can’t plan where to defend against him.”
- Enes Unal is still out.

Brighton
Brighton GW8 Predicted formation
- 4-2-3-1
Brighton GW8 Predicted lineup:
Verbruggen
Wieffer – Van Hecke – Dunk – De Cuyper
Baleba – Ayari
Minteh – Rutter – Mitoma
Welbeck
Brighton Team News and Key Notes:
- Veltman and Mitoma have returned to training but need to be assessed to see whether they can play against Newcastle.
- Gomez’s fitness will be assessed ahead of the Newcastle clash after enduring a thigh injury in Paraguay’s friendly against South Korea. There’s a chance he could start, according to Hurzeler.
- Gruda was forced out of international duty by a knee injury and is out for the Newcastle game, Hurzeler confirmed.
- Hurzeler on team news ahead of Newcastle: “Some of the players came back with small issues, but overall we are trying to manage it. Brajan Gruda can’t play tomorrow, he won’t be available. The other players, including Diego Gomez, we will have to assess today [Friday], but there’s a high chance that they’re an option to start the game and to play the game.”
“Both Kaoru Mitoma and Joel Veltman are in training, but we still have to assess them as well. There’s still a question mark on both. Therefore we have to wait to see how they’re doing and then we can make a decision.” - De Cuyper played Brighton’s last two Premier League games, albeit with brief appearances. He is expected to return to the starting lineup and replace Kadioglu.
- Adam Webster, Solly March, and Jack Hinshelwood are out.
- Hurzeler on Hinshelwood: “Jack [Hinshelwood] is still out, he won’t be available. But I think the other players should be fine.”
Burnley
Burnley GW8 Predicted formation
- 5-4-1
Burnley GW8 Predicted lineup:
Dubravka
Walker – Laurent – Ekdal – Esteve – Hartman
Tchaouna – Cullen – Luis – Anthony
Foster
Burnley Team News and Key Notes:
- Foster is doubtful for this weekend’s clash against Leeds after he was withdrawn from international duty due to an injury.
- Parker on Foster: “Itโs better news than we initially thought with Lyle, itโs a dead leg. He travels back today and will be in later on today so we will have a conversation with him to see where he is at.โ
- Jordan Beyer, Connor Roberts, and Zeki Amdouni are out.
- Parker on Connor Roberts: “Connor has had a setback so itโs looking like a few months before we see him back. Heโs a strong character and I am sure he will come through this stronger.โ

Brentford
Brentford GW8 Predicted formation:
- 5-3-2
Brentford GW8 Predicted lineup:
Kelleher
Kayode – Collins – Van Den Berg – Ajer – Lewis Potter
Yarmolyuk – Henderson – Damsgaard
Thiago – Schade
Brentford team news:
- Maghoma, who hasn’t played this season due to a hamstring injury, is still not available, but he has returned to full training.
- Gustavo Nunes and Reiss Nelson played for Brentford’s U21 team this week and are both available for selection against West Ham.
- Antoni Milambo will miss the rest of the season after suffering an ACL injury during international duty.
- Andrews on Milambo: “He’s obviously very down. It’s devastating for him, first and foremost. He’s at a new club, settling into a new country as a very young player that we have high, high hopes for. Suffering an injury of that level is obviously very disappointing, but the one thing he knows is that he will get a lot of support here and time to heal.”
“To go through that process is the worst part of being a footballer: not being able to do what you love. Antoni’s got a long road back to getting back on the pitch, but he will get so much support from everyone here at Brentford.” - Aaron Hickey has suffered a minor knee issue on international duty with Scotland and is doubtful this weekend. He has returned to training, though.
- Andrews on Hickey: “Aaron got a bit of a knock in Scotland’s first game of the international break and he missed the second match, but he’s been back on the grass today.”

Chelsea
Chelsea GW8 Predicted formation:
- 4-2-3-1
Chelsea GW8 Predicted lineup:
Robert Sanchez
James – Tosin – Chalobah – Cucurella
Caicedo – Lavia
Estevao – Buonanotte – Garnacho
J. Pedro
Chelsea Team News and Notes:
- A bunch of mixed news for Chelsea fans, with Maresca providing major updates on several players in his squad.
- Palmer has suffered a big setback in his road to recovery and will be out for 6 more weeks, Maresca revealed in his pre-Forest presser.
- Maresca on Palmer: “Unfortunately, he needs to be out for probably six more weeks, this is the update. We try to protect Cole as much as we can and the most important thing is that when he comes back, he is fully fit. We hope the six weeks will be enough, but itโs a problem that we need to look at step by step, week by week, but for sure he is going to be okay.”
- On the other hand, some good news, as Tosin, Fofana, and Andrey Santos have trained over the international break and are available for selection against Ange Postecoglou’s side.
- Chalobah has served his suspension and should return to the starting lineup.
- Reece James, who sat out international duty with England after sustaining an injury against Liverpool in GW7, is fit and available as well.
- Enzo Fernandez, Pedro Neto, and Moises Caicedo are all doubts for this weekend after returning from international duty.
- Maresca on Enzo, Neto, and Caicedo: “They didn’t take part in the session yesterday, but we will see if they can train today. Otherwise, they would be out for tomorrow.” Enzo was also not spotted in any of the training pictures released by Chelsea so far.
- With most of his primary attacking/midfield options doubtful or out for this weekend, Buonanotte could start as a No.10 as well. However, Maresca has used Gusto as a midfielder as well against Liverpool last gameweek, and it succeeded, having defeated Slot’s men 2-1. We could see Gusto and James start together on the pitch like they did against Liverpool, so be prepared for changes in Chelsea’s lineup.
- Maresca on if anyone could replace Palmer (via football.london): “First of all, to replace Cole is difficult, because Cole is a very important player for us, probably one of the best players in the Premier League, so to replace that kind of player is always difficult, but I think the ones that we have, it depends on the game plan, Cole’s position against Liverpool was Malo Gusto, the previous game against Benfica I think it was Facundo [Buonanotte], it depends a little bit on the game plan we have, for sure we need to find a different solution, we need to find different skills, because we don’t have another player like Cole, because Cole is unique.”
- Colwill, Essguo, Badiashile, and Delap are out.
- Maresca on Badisahile’s return timeline: “Unfortunately, Benoit [Badiashile] will be out in December, injury again. A muscle problem. He was doing fantastic, he showed all of this, he showed how he needed, and we’re going to wait for him.”

Sarr – Pino
Mateta
Crystal Palace Notes/Injury Updates:
- No fresh injuries for Crystal Palace after the international break!
- Glasner on team news ahead of Bournemouth clash: “They came back safe and all are doing well.” “A few, like Chris Richards, Walter Benitez, Rio Cardines and [Christantus] Uche, they just came back yesterday. They had their only training today. But we have a great mood here at the training ground.”
“It’s all fine. All players are fit. All are available. We have no injuries at the moment, so fingers crossed that this stays. And just in long term, of course, Chadi Riad and Cheick Doucourรฉ [are out], but all others are fit and available.โ - Caleb Kporha, Chadi Riad, and Cheick Doucourรฉ are still out.
- Chadi Riad is expected to return sometime in November.
- Glasner on Riad’s progress: “No [he’s not ready], unfortunately. We expected him now, but it takes maybe one, two more weeks. We said it’s such a long period, and we don’t take any kind of risks because the worst thing that can happen is he starts training, and maybe then he has to go out of the training again.”
“He’s doing his rehab. He’s on the pitch already. He’s doing a lot of work. But of course, especially the next two weeks, honestly, we don’t really train. We have five games and especially from Thursday [23rd] till Saturday [1st November], we have four games in nine days. I think after this period, he will be with us.โ

Liverpool
Liverpool GW8 Predicted Formation:
4-2-3-1
Liverpool GW8 Predicted lineup:
Mamardashvili
Bradley – Konate – Van Dijk – Kerkez
Mac Allister – Gravenberch
Salah – Szoboszlai – Gakpo
Isak
Liverpool Team News and Key Notes:
- Konate was withdrawn from the France squad due to a thigh injury. However, he is back in training and we are predicting that the defender will feature in the starting XI to face Man United this Sunday.
- Slot on Konate: “Ibou has come back to us, started the sessions again and is expected to train with us today.โ
- Endo was withdrawn from the Japan squad through injury as well.
- Gravenberch is fit and ready to start despite enduring a minor hamstring injury on international duty.
- Slot on Gravenberch: “Ryan is completely fit, although we still have to train twice. But if you ask me now he is completely fit. We are in a good place with the Dutch national team if Ronald Koeman can make a decision either to play Tijjani Reijnders or Ryan Gravenberch, so he played them both 45 minutes.”
- Wirtz started both of Germany’s fixtures in the World Cup qualifiers this international break, so he’s expected to start on the bench to give him some rest. Szoboszlai should start as a No.10. However, there is a chance Mac Allister could be rested, judging by Slot’s comments on his fitness issues in his pre-match press conference. In that case, Szoboszlai could start alongside Gravenberch with Wirtz starting as a 10.
- Slot on Mac Allister: “One thing is clear and that’s what was in your question, unfortunately he went out immediately after we won the league and we were expecting him to be back from the start of pre-season, which he wasn’t. That led to the fact he wasn’t able to play three times in a row, so he went in, out, in, out, 60 minutes, 45 minutes. That’s never an ideal scenario for a player. But like all the others, he’s a player that has experienced so many things in his career already that he will be back at the level he wants and the level I want from him.”
- Slot on Isak’s fitness: “I think that’s what we did [build him up] and now he’s had his five, six weeks of pre-season, which is normal for every player โ especially if you’ve been out for three or four months. Fitness-wise, I think he’s now close to the level he should be and now I think we can judge him in a fair way from now on. I know how this industry works, if he plays there twice [with Sweden] and doesn’t score then that’s not what you’re hoping for. Of course you’re hoping if they go to the national team that they score โ like Cody [Gakpo] did, like Virgil did, like Dominik [Szoboszlai] did, like [Alexis] Mac Allister did, do I forget a few? โ but he didn’t. But I think his pre-season maybe finished now he’s played a few games, 70, 80, 90 minutes. So, let’s see where he is in the upcoming weeks.”
- Slot on Alisson’s progress: “He is not training with us, so he is out. Like I always say, itโs so difficult to say because the end phase of rehab can always give you positives or negatives, but he will not play on the weekend and also not next week.โ
- Alisson, Giovanni Leoni, Stefan Bajcetic, and Jayden Danns are out.

Man City Notes/Injury Update:
- Rodri is out for this weekend’s clash against Everton. He was forced off after just 22 minutes in Man City’s GW7 clash against Brentford and he missed out on international duty as well.
- Guardiola on Rodri: “I donโt know. Not yet, [heโs] not ready for tomorrow.โ
- Meanwhile, Ait Nouri and Marmoush are nearing returns to the squad, but should be out for this weekend.
- Guardiola on Ait Nouri and Marmoush: “They trained yesterday and are much better. Theyโre close to being back.โ
- Guardiola on Kovacic, who has not played for City this season after an Achilees injury but featured for Croatia in their win over Gibraltar: “He started 50-60 minutes, step-by-step. He needs to give us quality moments, quality time and quality minutes. Step-by-step but itโs important heโs back.โ
- Khusanovโs return to action could be delayed by another week, and he will not be available vs Everton this weekend.

- Amorim on Mazraoui: “Mazraoui, I donโt know.”
- Amorim on remaining team news: “The rest of the guys, the national team [players], they are ready. But, if you saw the games, some players play in Japan, so we need to be careful, to give more time. Diogo [Dalot] didnโt play the last game [with Portugal], he was here [yesterday]. Bruno played 62 minutes, we gave [him] one more day [to recover]. We try to balance everything to have everyone ready. But they are ready, the guys are returning from national teams. Newcastle United Injury News/Notes:

- Jacob Ramsey may or may not be available as Howe intends to gradually reintegrate him back into the first team during his return to fitness.
- Howe on Ramsey: “Jacob had a couple of training sessions. We didnโt want to push him too early, he trained in the break and looked good and pleased where he is now.”
- Howe has offered some good news on the fitness of Lewis Hall, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury.
- Howe on Hall: “Lewis’ second scan was good news. We hope he will be back during this period of games we have before the next international break. He’s such an important player for us.”
- Wissa and Livramento remain sidelined, but Howe has some information on their progress as well.
- Howe on Livramento and Wissa: “Tino is out of the brace, no massive changes to the time frame that he was given but he is feeling positive.”
“Yoaneโs had his first time on the grass with us, which was great to see and his knee has reacted well to that work so far. It will now be a case of stepping him up gradually. I know he is desperate to get out and show his worth but itโs one step at a time now.โ

- Kolo Muani is back in contention and will be available this Sunday against Aston Villa.
- Frank on Kolo Muani: “Kolo Muani has trained for two weeks with the team, that’s good. He looks better and better and is in contention for the squad on Sunday, so that’s a positive. It’s very important to have him fit and available. I think he looks better and better. I think it’s also fair to say that he has trained two weeks with the team and when he came on the 1st of September – time flies! – he still needed a bit to go up to the higher level. But it’s not to say that he can’t be involved tomorrow and maybe can play minutes. But I think it’s fair to say that he needs a little bit of time to get up to a full level.โ
- Maddison, Kulusevski, Solanke, and Dragusin are out.
- Frank on Solanke (via football.london): “Dom has progressed well from the surgery. The detail is positive.”
“The good thing is positive but he’s still training on his own. I don’t want to be too excited or too negative. We’ll take it day by day and week by week. He hasn’t been training with the team since July.” - Bissouma, who is yet to feature for Spurs this season, returned to action for his home country, Mali, on international duty but was stretchered off after just a few minutes. A return date is yet to be determined.
