FPL GW36 Tips – Key Questions/Dilemmas Answered

1) Is it okay to save a transfer this week?

Avoiding making forced transfers right now can be crucial for your rank at this Fantasy Premier League season stage. If you believe your team is in good shape and there aren’t any major issues to solve, saving a transfer is the right way.

Try to assess your team’s overall readiness for GW37. If you have players like Son and Palmer in your team, along with the Man City and Newcastle player triple-ups, you can save a transfer this week. There is no need to move Schar out unless we get confirmed ‘OUT’ news on him.

If you have all the above sorted, there are no obvious moves to make this week. In that case, save your transfer. If not, see what you are missing and get those players this week.

Overall, unless you have picked a player at the risk of not starting in Gameweek 36 and you don’t have enough bench cover, you can save the transfer. This will give you two free transfers for Gameweek 37 and one additional gameweek’s worth of information, which can be vital.

There is no right or wrong answer here, as there is no single way of playing FPL. It depends on how comfortable you are with your team this week and how much risk you will take. If any players would improve your squad, lock in that transfer before the deadline.

2) How to prepare for Double Gameweek 37?

As all of you know by now, Gameweek 37 is a Double Gameweek. These are the teams doubling in GW37.

Double Gameweek 37
✅ Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest(A), Brighton(A)
✅ Newcastle vs Brighton(H), Man Utd(A)
✅ Tottenham vs Burnley(H), Man City(H)
✅ Man City vs Fulham(A), Tottenham(A)
✅ Man Utd vs Arsenal(H), Newcastle(H)
✅ Brighton vs Newcastle(A), Chelsea(H)

If you are Free-Hitting in GW37, you can easily set up a team with 11 Doublers and maximize GW37. If you are not, you can still get the players having a double and use the Bench Boost chip (if available).

Triple Man City looks like the way to go. Haaland + Foden is a good, safe double-up on attack. If you want to be aggressive, you can go with KDB or a triple Man City attack. Gvardiol, in defence, is a good pick if you have a spot open.

Newcastle is the next team I am interested in. We can double up on the Newcastle attack with Gordon and Isak. Both are reasonably priced and are in fantastic form. Tripling up on Newcastle is a great strategy and is likely to be popular, as they have great fixtures from now till GW38.

Chelsea and Tottenham are two more teams to target for the double in GW37. If you already have Palmer and Son, hold both, as they are good options. Other players from both teams are tricky to choose. Chelsea aren’t solid defensively, but Petrovic is still an okay option. He can still be good for save points, but other than him, there are no obvious choices in defense. Nicolas Jackson is an option if you want to go aggressive, and doubling up on the Chelsea attack is the way to go here.

For Spurs, you can get Porro in defense. Like Chelsea, don’t expect much in terms of clean sheets, but Porro can provide you with attacking returns. Double up on the Spurs attack is also a differential strategy. You can go for Son + Richarlison as the attacking combo.

I am not very keen on Man Utd and Brighton players, as there are better players. Bruno Fernandes has been in great form in attack and can be a great 4th or 5th midfielder choice. Garnacho is the cheaper alternative if you are on a budget.

If you are ‘Bench Boosting’, you can go with someone like Maguire in the United defence. Don’t expect clean sheets here, but if anything comes up, it’s a bonus.

3) How do you plan your transfers in case no ‘Bench Boost’ is available?

Many managers have used their Wildcard in the GW35 window and want to play the Bench Boost in GW37. If you are in a scenario where you don’t have the BB chip, focus on your starting XI.

Aim to get in 11 doublers if they will give you the maximum points. As mentioned earlier, I’ll prioritize Man City and Newcastle assets. Once you have that setup, adding more Chelsea and Tottenham options puts you in a position to maximize your returns for the double.

You can go for Man Utd picks if you are chasing rank/positions in your mini-league.

That will be all from my side for this week! I wish you all the best for FPL Gameweek 36, and I will see you all next week.
