FPL GW29 Free Hit Guide

FPL GW29 Fixtures

FPL GW29 Fixtures

Note: Both Aston Villa(vs Ajax) and West Ham(vs Freiburg) have important European games on Thursday night. This might cause some rotation in GW29 and it is best to go for absolutely nailed assets.

The template of a GW29 Free Hit is likely to be –

Flekken
Doughty- Reguilon(if fit)- Udogie/Porro
Bowen- Son- Maddison- Bailey/Kudus
Morris- Watkins- Toney/Muniz

Other players to consider:

  • Goal Keepers: Martinez, Kaminski, Sels
  • Defenders: Collins, Konsa/Torres, Robinson
  • Midfielders: Elanga, Gibbs White, Kudus, Barkley, Luiz, Kulusevski, Pereira/Wilson, Paqueta, Johnson
  • Forwards: Wissa, Awoniyi/Wood(Based on leaks), Fofana

Thomas Frank about Reguilon after the Arsenal Game: “Sergio has a minor hamstring injury – he should be available for Burnley.”

Pros of GW29 Free Hit:

  • Enables you to navigate blank gameweek 29 without taking any hits and field 11 players
  • Retain your current players who blank in GW29 for GW30 and beyond(Saka, Solanke, Haaland, Foden etc)
  • Not a lot of assets who play in GW29 are long-term holds, most of these teams will also not double again later in the season. Temporarily getting them in for GW29 through free hit should work out well.

Cons of GW29 Free Hit:

  • You’ll need to plan for DGW34/DGW37 without a free hit
  • Not a great pool of good FPL assets with upside to choose from in FPL GW29 to maximize the free hit chip.
  • If you have 7-8 players you can field a decent team and save the free hit to use it in DGW34/37. If you can Watkins, Son, Bowen and 4-5 more good picks, you are pretty much covered
  • A hit or two to get to your Spurs Midfielders like Son/Maddison are certainly worth it rather than using Free Hit because the fixtures for Spurs after GW29 also look really good. Son is also an Captaincy option in GW30(vs Luton) when Haaland and Saka play each other.
Spurs fixtures from GW29- GW32
  • Muniz is another player who have good fixtures after this week as well- GW30 vs Sheffield United and GW31 vs Forest.

Other windows to Play Free Hit:

  • GW34 – Mini Blank GW and Mini DGW due to FA Cup
  • GW37 – Biggest Double Gameweek of the season(Although bench boost makes more sense)
  • GW38 – Historically GW38 always is a high scoring gameweek. Since all games start at the same time there’s a good chance of concrete early team leaks.

FPL GW29 Free Hit Drafts

FPL GW29 Free Hit Draft 1(Updated after Watkins injury)

Watkins was subbed off midweek European Conference League game at 33 minutes due to an injury. He did score a goal before that. We are likely to hear from Emery again on Friday for the latest updates. But this is the draft in case he is confirmed to miss out.

Watkins injury update after EC game(Thursday):

Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins only suffered a cut: “He could be available for Sunday, but it is only a cut. We will wait and see tomorrow and Saturday. “We are speaking before each match about how important Ollie Watkins is.”

  • Wissa+ Toney is the attacking Differential in this draft from Brentford. Burnley are defensively poor and this is one of the games Brentford will look to get in 3 points in a push to stay clear of the relegation zone. Burnley are a decent attacking side and instead of doubling up on Flekken+ Reguilon, we have gone with Wissa as the third Brentford player.
  • Elanga is another differential in this draft. Gibbs White is the safer pick if you are looking for more minutes. Elanga is the more explosive, but was benched in GW28. We do back him to start in GW29. Wissa and Elanga both have good underlying numbers and are discussed in detail in our FPL GW29 Differentials article.

FPL GW29 Free Hit Draft 2

  • This draft has triple Brentford, Triple Spurs, Double Luton Town, Double West Ham, and Watkins
  • Toney is the captain against a struggling Burnley side who have conceded 18 goals in the last six games
  • Collins can be Regulion easily, Thomas Frank has already confirmed that the Spanish full-back should be available for the Burnley game. Watch out for PC confirmation
  • Goals have not been the problem for Luton with the Hatters registering a healthy xG of 13.99 in the last eight games which is the 5th highest in the League during the period. Luton has never failed to score since GW13!

FPL GW29 Free Hit Draft 3

  • Slightly different from the above draft with Muniz over Morris

Toney vs Morris vs Muniz Comparison(Per 90):

Data Since GW23

Shots inside the Box- 1.57 vs 1.88 vs 4.29
Big Chances- 0.71 vs 0.68 vs 0.89
Big Chance created- 0.14 vs 0.34 vs 0.36
xG- 0.26 vs 0.51 vs 0.47
xGI- 0.32 vs 0.61 vs 0.56
Goal Involvements- 0.29 vs 0.86 vs 1.07
FPL Points- 3.0 vs 6.16 vs 7.87

Total domination from Muniz 😮
  • The Fulham forward has 5 goals and one assist in the last six games, Only Watkins has more points amongst forwards during the period. Marco Silva did mention Jimenez is expected to be back for the Spurs game but it is highly likely that he’ll not start directly considering Muniz’s excellent form.

FPL GW29 Free Hit Draft 4

  • Note: Elanga is a slight xMins risk, if you’re not confident you can go for Kudus, Douglas Luiz, or even Brennan Johnson
