FPL Gameweek 29 Transfer Tips: Two Players to Buy, Hold & Sell

Phew!.

Just like Haaland, Solanke tried hard to be a part of the Dunk-Dennis, Sané-Mané club. But fortunately for his captainers (and Triple Captainers), he scored in the 50th minute and escaped the wooden spoon.

Still, it doesn’t negate the fact how bad the week was for DGW assets:

BOU popular assets

  • Neto – 4 pts
  • Mepham – 4 pts
  • Senesi – 0 pts
  • Kerkez – 0 pts
  • Tavernier – 3 pts
  • Kluivert – 2 pts

LUT popular assets

  • Kaminski – 4 pts
  • Doughty – 5 pts
  • Kaboré – 4 pts
  • Mengi – 2 pts
  • Morris – 5 pts

Zabarnyi, Semenyo, Solanke and Barkley are the only assets who returned more than 5 points and were owned by more than 1% managers.

The biggest BGW is upon us. This will be followed by the last international break of the season. This leaves the managers with lots of planning to do.

So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 29 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY

The Sons

Son Heung-min (£9.9m) – MID, Spurs – 31.1% TSB

James Maddison (£8.0m) – MID, Spurs – 15.5% TSB

One of the best fixtures in GW29 as it stands and a Top Captaincy option as the likes of Haaland/Salah/Saka are blanking, Son auto-selects himself in this depleted GW. If there were any doubts, they were magnificently put to rest courtesy his 17-point haul against Top 4 contenders Aston Villa at Villa Park.

Maddison on the other hand is a more than able deputy with 4 returns in 6 games since his comeback from injury.

In the reverse fixture in GW9, Son returned 14 points while Maddison returned 9 points.

Even beyond GW29, Spurs have an exciting fixture list till GW32

Buy the “Second Sons.” One of them might be your Daario Naharis for this GW and beyond (GoT reference for the unreserved)

Sergio Reguilón (£4.4m) – DEF, Brentford – 3.0% TSB

Thomas Frank on Sergio Reguilón – “A minor hamstring, he should be available for the Burnley game.”

He was also spotted in a training video on Wednesday which means he should be fit and ready for the game vs Burnley.

Since, GW23, Reguilón ranks 3rd for Goal Involvement among defenders. The top 2 (Kiwior and White) don’t play this GW. During the same time, Burnley, Reguilón’s opponents in GW29, ranks 19th in terms of Goals Conceded. The 20th-ranked team. Sheffield United, doesn’t play this GW.

To put it simply, you have the most attacking defender playing against the worst defence.

The good story continues…

Burnley are also ranked 20th in terms of goals scored.

So there’s a good chance that Reguilón might return at both ends of the pitch.

FPL Gameweek 29 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD

Ollie Watkins (£9.0m) – FWD, Aston Villa – 57.4% TSB

Among FWDs, Watkins is ranked:

  • 1st for FPL Points
  • 1st for BPS
  • 1st for Bonus Points
  • 1st for Goal Involvements
  • 1st for Big Chances Created
  • 1st for Assists
  • 2nd for Shots
  • 2nd for Shots on Target
  • 2nd for Shots in the Box
  • 2nd for xA
  • 2nd for xGI
  • 2nd for Goals Scored
  • 2nd for Key Passes
  • 3rd for Big Chances
  • 3rd for xG

He faces West Ham in GW29, a team that is ranked:

  • 19th for Shots Conceded
  • 19th for Shots on Target Conceded
  • 18th for Big Chances Conceded
  • 18th for xG Conceded

If this doesn’t convince you, maybe the fact that Watkins scored 11 points in the reverse fixture, will.

Don’t let Watkins’ blank in GW28 misguide you. HOLD him.

Watkins Injury Update after the UECL Game:

Unai Emery says Ollie Watkins only suffered a cut: “He could be available for Sunday, but it is only a cut. We will wait and see tomorrow and Saturday. “We are speaking before each match about how important Ollie Watkins is.”

Carlton Morris (£5.2m) – FWD, Luton – 13.0% TSB

Since GW21, Morris’s rank among FWDs

  • 2nd for FPL points
  • 3rd for Goals
  • 3rd for Goal Involvements
  • 3rd for Key Passes
  • 3rd for BPS
  • 4th for Bonus
  • 5th for xG
  • 5th for xGI

In GW29, Morris plays Nottingham Forest, a team which has not kept a Clean Sheet since GW12.

So, although he blanked in DGW28, HOLD Morris for this week.

FPL Gameweek 29 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL

Pascal Groß (£6.6m) – MID, Brighton & Hove Albion – 8.3% TSB

It might come as a surprise that a player who has scored 45 points in the last 6 games finds himself in SELL.

However, a closer look at the fixtures will reveal how things might start looking tough for Groß. Brighton’s rank in terms of FDR

FDRRank
Next 2 GWs20th
Next 3 GWs19th
Next 4 GWs20th
Next 5 GWs19th
Next 6 GWs19th
Next 7 GWs18th
Next 8 GWs17th
Next 9 GWs20th
Next 10 GWs19th

So neither in the short term, nor in the long term, does BHA rise above the Bottom 4 in terms of FDR. Hence, I recommend you sell Groß

Ederson (£5.5m) – GKP, Man City – 15.1% TSB

Ederson sustained a leg injury during a tackle on Darwin Nunez, resulting in a penalty which Alexis Mac Allister successfully converted. Although Ederson initially remained on the field, he was later substituted by Stefan Ortega 11 minutes into the second half. As reported by Manchester Evening News, Ederson is expected to be sidelined for approximately three to four weeks due to the injury, likely causing him to miss the crucial Premier League match against Arsenal on March 31.

Hence, he is a SELL.
