Gameweek 29 saw some major shifts, with Manchester City dropping further points in a 2-2 draw against Brighton. Meanwhile, Spurs’ struggles continued as they suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to Fulham. But the biggest winners of the week were undoubtedly Manchester United and Nottingham Forest, whose assets delivered handsomely for FPL managers.
Bruno Fernandes lived up to the hype, hauling a massive 17 points, while Nottingham Forest’s momentum remained strong, this time with Anthony Elanga stepping up with a 16-point return. Defenders also had their moment, with Diogo Dalot and Nikola Milenković both delivering 11 points, proving that clean sheets and attacking contributions from the back can still be valuable in the season’s final stretch.
As we step into the final stretch of the season, the last international break is behind us, paving the way for non-stop action until Gameweek 38. With a few Double Gameweeks (DGWs) on the horizon, strategic planning will be key to maximizing points in these crucial weeks. Every transfer and captaincy decision could make the difference as FPL managers look to secure their mini-league positions or push for overall rank gains.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 30 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
City Centurions
Omar Marmoush (£7.3m) – FWD, Man City – 13.4% TSB
Erling Haaland (£14.8m) – FWD, Man City – 30.9% TSB

Since GW25, no FPL forward has been more electric than Omar Marmoush. More goals, more assists, more bonus points, more FPL points—you name it, he’s topping the charts.
If form is temporary and class is permanent, then Marmoush is pure form, and Haaland is pure class.
Speaking of Haaland, he’s basically the final boss of FPL forwards. He’s first in:
✅ Shots
✅ Shots on Target
✅ Shots in the Box
✅ Big Chances
✅ xG
✅ xGI
✅ Goals
✅ Goal Involvements
✅ Bonus Points
✅ Expected Points
And both these goal-hungry machines are about to feast on a Leicester defense that’s:
🔻 20th for Clean Sheets
🔻 19th for Shots in the Box Conceded
🔻 19th for Shots on Target Conceded
🔻 19th for Goals Conceded
🔻 18th for Big Chances Conceded
🔻 18th for Expected Goals Conceded
🔻 18th for Non-Penalty xGC
Bottom line— whether you go for the Pharaoh or the Cyborg, both are primed for a haul. Marmoush is in red-hot form, while Haaland is the safest bet in the game—if he blanks, we all blank. Both are facing a defense leakier than a colander. Don’t overthink it—just bring them in and enjoy the carnage!

Jean-Philippe Mateta (£7.5m) – FWD, Crystal Palace – 5.5% TSB

Crystal Palace had a blank in GW29, but before that, between GW20 and GW28, Jean-Philippe Mateta was putting up elite numbers among all forwards:
🔥 1st for Goals Scored
🔥 1st for Goal Involvements
🔥 1st for Bonus Points (BPS)
⚡ 2nd for Big Chances
⚡ 2nd for Expected Goals (xG)
⚡ 2nd for Expected Goal Involvements (xGI)
⚡ 2nd for Big Chances Created
⚡ 2nd for Expected Assists (xA)
⚡ 2nd for Expected Points (xPts)
⚡ 2nd for Bonus
⚡ 2nd for FPL Points
And now, he’s up against Southampton—a defense that’s bottom of the league (20th) in almost every defensive metric. In other words, a dream matchup.
There were concerns about his fitness after a horror challenge in the FA Cup on March 1, when Millwall’s Liam Roberts was sent off for a reckless high tackle that saw Mateta stretchered off and rushed to the hospital. The Frenchman needed 25 stitches to his ear but has made a swift recovery and will wear a protective mask to shield his left ear.
With Palace set for a Double Gameweek in GW32, Mateta should be right at the top of your shopping list. The masked forward is back—and he’s ready to make some noise!

FPL Gameweek 30 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Bryan Mbeumo (£8.1m) – MID, Brentford – 41.3% TSB

Mbeumo is currently the most transferred-out unflagged player this gameweek, likely due to Brentford’s upcoming tough fixture run. Many FPL managers seem to be jumping ship, fearing a dip in his output.

However, let’s not forget that Mbeumo thrived in these very same fixtures earlier this season, racking up an impressive 29 points against these opponents in the reverse meetings. Clearly, he has the potential to deliver even against difficult opposition.
Moreover, Brentford have been rock-solid on the road lately, putting together an impressive six-game unbeaten streak away from home, with five wins and one draw. This strong away form suggests they’re more than capable of causing problems for their upcoming opponents.
Given these factors, selling Mbeumo might just be premature. The Cameroon international has already proven he can deliver in tough fixtures, and with Brentford’s strong away momentum, he remains a valuable asset. Hence, I’d strongly suggest holding onto him rather than making a knee-jerk transfer.

Ola Aina (£5.4m) – DEF, Nott’m Forest – 29.4% TSB

Ola Aina is currently the most transferred-out unflagged defender this gameweek, likely because many managers are wary of Nottingham Forest’s upcoming fixtures. However, a closer look at the stats suggests that this might not be the wisest decision.
Despite perceptions, Forest’s defense has been one of the strongest in the league. They are ranked:
🔹 1st for Clean Sheets
🔹 2nd for Big Chances Conceded
Additionally, Aina has been an exceptional FPL asset, ranking as the second-highest scoring defender in the game this season. He has combined defensive solidity with attacking contributions, making him a reliable option at both ends of the pitch.
His next fixture is against Manchester United, a side that has struggled in front of goal this season. The Red Devils have managed to score just 37 goals in 29 games, ranking 14th in the league for goals scored—a surprisingly poor return for a club of their stature.
Considering Forest’s defensive strength and United’s attacking struggles, selling Aina seems like a rash move. Instead of offloading him out of fear, I’d strongly recommend holding onto him. His combination of form and defensive reliability makes him one of the best defenders in the game right now.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.3m) – DEF, Liverpool – 25.7% TSB

Liverpool were without Trent Alexander-Arnold against Newcastle after he picked up an ankle injury in the second-leg defeat to PSG, with Jarell Quansah stepping in at right-back as expected.
Ahead of the final, Slot provided a cautious update, stating that while Alexander-Arnold is expected to return before the end of the season, the exact timeline remains uncertain.
Meanwhile, speculation over his future is intensifying, and with sections of the Liverpool fanbase turning against him, doubts remain over whether he will feature again this season. Even if he does return, will he have the confidence and form to deliver at his usual high standards?
Given the uncertainty around his fitness, minutes, and mentality, TAA is a difficult hold and an easy sell this week.

Matheus Cunha (£6.9m) – FWD, Wolves – 7.1% TSB

Matheus Cunha has been handed an additional one-game ban and fined £50,000 for his actions at the end of Wolves’ FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth.
The Brazilian striker admitted to improper conduct after being sent off in the final minute of extra time for clashing with Cherries defender Milos Kerkez. The 25-year-old lashed out three times at the Hungarian left-back and had to be escorted down the tunnel following his dismissal.
His straight red card for violent conduct initially ruled him out for three games, but with this added suspension, he will now miss a fourth match—Wolves’ Premier League clash against Ipswich Town on 5 April. This means he won’t be available until 13 April, when Wolves face Tottenham Hotspur.
That’s simply too long to hold onto a player who isn’t cheap, especially with plenty of strong alternatives offering better fixtures and attacking potential. Moving to options like Marmoush or Mateta could be a smart play to maximize points in the coming weeks.
