As 2025 kicked off, GW20 reminded FPL managers that form is temporary, but class is permanent. Players who once stole the spotlight in the early GWs of 2024 made a triumphant return, lighting up the New Year. Brentford duo Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa rekindled memories of their early-season magic with stellar performances, while Erling Haaland silenced his critics with a classic haul. These “forgotten heroes” of the past year brought back the joy of owning them, leaving many managers scrambling to reassess their squads for the weeks ahead.
The New Year also brought a rejuvenated Manchester United, who shocked Liverpool by securing a point at Anfield in a spirited display, signalling a potential turnaround for the Red Devils. Yet, not everything changed. Spurs remained trapped in their losing streak, Alexander Isak and Mohamed Salah kept delivering the goods, and Nottingham Forest assets continued to reward their faithful owners with consistently handsome returns. The balance of new surprises and old reliabilities made GW20 a fascinating start to the year, setting the tone for what promises to be an unpredictable second half of the season.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 21 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
PS – I am not mentioning Salah, as he is non-negotiable at this point. I assume he is already in your team.
Raúl Jiménez (£5.7m) – FWD, Fulham – 9.9% TSB
Over the last two Gameweeks, Jiménez has been in exceptional form among forwards, ranking:
- 1st for FPL points
- 1st for Bonus Points
- 1st for Shots
- 1st for Shots on Target
- 1st for Shots in the Box
- 1st for Goals Scored
- 2nd for BPS
- 3rd for Big Chances
Fulham’s upcoming fixtures look highly favorable, with their next opponents being teams that rank in the Bottom 4 for Goals Conceded. First up is West Ham, a side that has managed only two wins in their last eight matches—and those were against relegation battlers Southampton and Wolves.
Given his form and Fulham’s short-term schedule, the Mexican forward is a strong recommendation for your team.

Newcastle Ninjas
Alexander Isak (£9.3m) – FWD, Newcastle – 54.0 % TSB
Anthony Gordon (£7.5m) – MID, Newcastle – 19.3 % TSB
Newcastle United is set for an enticing run of fixtures, offering plenty of potential for FPL managers eager to tap into their attacking firepower.
Over the past seven Gameweeks, Newcastle’s attack has been a treasure trove of points, led by the electric Alexander Isak. His consistent returns underline his status as a premium forward option. On the other hand, Anthony Gordon has emerged as a value gem, delivering steady contributions for managers seeking a budget alternative.
Here’s a breakdown of their performances:
Between them, they’ve blanked only once in the last seven matches—a remarkable testament to their consistency.
With Newcastle’s attack in red-hot form and a promising schedule ahead, both Isak and Gordon stand out as excellent options catering to different budgets. For managers keen to maximize returns, investing in the Magpies’ frontline could pay dividends in the coming weeks.

Palace Princes
Ismaïla Sarr (£5.9m) – MID, Crystal Palace – 5.1% TSB
Daniel Muñoz (£4.7m) – DEF, Crystal Palace – 5.1% TSB
I was about to dive into writing about Sarr and Muñoz, but my fellow FPL enthusiasts, Surya and Srini, have already done an excellent job outlining their merits.
The only point I’d like to emphasize is their fantastic run of fixtures, which further solidifies their appeal.
Both players are absolute HOLDS in my book for the weeks ahead.

Bruno Fernandes (£8.3m) – MID, Man Utd – 9.0%
Bruno ranks among the Top 5 midfielders in the following key metrics:
- Shots
- xGI
- Key Passes
- Assists
- xPts
- Bonus Points
If only Manchester United had a proper No. 9 to convert more of his chances—but that’s a story for another time.
In GW21, Bruno faces Southampton at Old Trafford, a team that has been nothing short of disastrous defensively this season. They rank at or near the bottom across critical defensive metrics:
- 20th for Shots Conceded
- 20th for Shots on Target Conceded
- 20th for Shots from Set Pieces Conceded
- 20th for Big Chances Conceded
- 20th for NPxGC
- 20th for xGC
- 20th for xCS
- 19th for Shots in the Box Conceded
- 19th for Goals Conceded
- 19th for Clean Sheets
Such glaring weaknesses make Southampton an ideal opponent for a creative and attacking player like Bruno.
For those who’ve stuck with him through recent blanks including a -2 against Wolves, now is not the time to lose faith. Selling Bruno ahead of this fixture could feel like walking out just as the fireworks begin. With Southampton’s fragile defense, Bruno is primed to capitalize on their vulnerabilities.

FPL Gameweek 21 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Evanilson (£5.9m) – FWD, Bournemouth – 2.8% TSB
Evanilson faces an extended period out of action following surgery to address a broken foot.
The Brazilian forward sustained the injury during the final moments of Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Everton. Subsequent medical evaluations revealed a fractured metatarsal, necessitating an operation.
Bournemouth has confirmed that the surgery was successful but has not specified a timeline for the 25-year-old’s return to the pitch.
“The club’s medical team will work closely with Evanilson throughout his rehabilitation, providing full support to ensure his recovery goes as smoothly as possible,” the club stated.

Matheus Cunha (£7.0m) – FWD, Wolves – 12.7% TSB
Cunha returns to action after serving his suspension, but despite his availability, I would still suggest selling him.
Wolves face a challenging schedule, as they rank 20th in the Fixture Difficulty Rating (FDR) over the next five Gameweeks. This tough run significantly limits the potential for attacking returns, casting doubt on Cunha’s ability to deliver consistent points during this period.
For FPL managers aiming to maximize their team’s output, holding onto Cunha becomes increasingly hard to justify. With several forwards offering better form and more favorable fixtures, this seems like the ideal time to look for alternatives who can provide greater value in the short term.
