What a riveting week it has been! Haaland, Salah, Son, Saka, Palmer, Gabriel, Isak, Son, Saliba, White, Gordon, Foden – almost all the highly owned assets returned. As a result, since GW10, this week saw the highest average score for a non-DGW.
But now, the final crescendo approaches. The last grand Double Gameweek is upon us, beckoning managers to unleash their strategic arsenal. And yet, amidst the allure of the Double Gameweek, let us not forget the solitary warriors, those with only one fixture to their name. Their potential for glory should not be underestimated.
Indeed, as the stakes soar higher, the path to victory becomes ever more treacherous. In this intricate dance of tactics and timing, managers stand poised at the brink, ready to carve their names into the annals of fantasy football lore.
So, let’s start with our BUY-HOLD-SELL article for this GW, sponsored by …. Well, nobody. We are poor, but you can help here if you want 😊

FPL Gameweek 37 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Erling Haaland (£14.2m) – FWD, Man City – 68.9% TSB
The premier striker of the league faces a pivotal double-header: one against a team in the bottom half of the table and the other against a squad that has conceded a staggering 13 goals across four consecutive losses. His team’s title defense hangs in the balance, making these fixtures crucial. Keep a keen watch on Haaland’s ownership this week; it may well rewrite the record books.
The statistics from Haaland’s performances in the reverse fixtures are promising:
- In GW4 against FUL, he amassed 20 points with 3 goals and 1 assist.
- In GW14 against TOT, he secured 7 points with 2 assists.
- Totaling an impressive 27 points, with 3 goals and 3 assists.
Haaland has recently achieved his second 200-point milestone in as many seasons in the English Premier League. Given his current form, he should undoubtedly be the cornerstone of your Fantasy Premier League team selection.
Cole Palmer (£6.2m) – MID, Chelsea – 50.1% TSB
Besides Manchester City, Chelsea stands out with a promising double fixture in DGW37. Their opponents, Nottingham Forest and Brighton & Hove Albion, both reside in the bottom half of the table. Over the past 10 Gameweeks, these teams have managed just 3 clean sheets in 19 games combined (Forest – 0, Brighton – 3).
Leading Chelsea’s attacking charge is Palmer. Among midfielders, Palmer is ranked:
- 1st for FPL points
- 1st for Bonus Points
- 1st for Goals Scored
- 1st for Goal Involvements
- 2nd for Shots on Target
- 2nd for Big Chances
- 2nd for xG
- 3rd for xPts
- 3rd for xGI
- 3rd for Shots
- 3rd for BPS
Looking beyond DGW37, Palmer will face Bournemouth at home in GW38, where he has historically thrived. Given his exceptional form and favorable upcoming fixtures, I strongly recommend acquiring Palmer for your team.
FPL Gameweek 37 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Bukayo Saka (£9.0m) – MID, Arsenal – 54.7% TSB
Saka is the second most transferred out midfielder this round. The rationale? Arsenal’s singular fixture in a Double Gameweek, compounded by the daunting away clash against Manchester United, may have swayed managers to sever ties with the Arsenal dynamo.
However, overlooking Arsenal’s resurgence atop the table would be a grave misstep. The Gunners, fuelled by a relentless hunger for the title, are poised to unleash their full might against Manchester United. Recent events only amplify the urgency, with Manchester United’s defensive frailties laid bare in a harrowing 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace. This wasn’t an isolated incident but rather a stark reflection of Manchester United’s long-standing defensive woes.
Since GW26, Man Utd defence is ranked:
- 15th for NPxGC
- 15th for Clean Sheets
- 16th for xGC
- 16th for Big Chances Conceded
- 16th for Shots on Target Conceded
- 17th for Goals Conceded
- 19th for xCS
- 20th for Shots Conceded
- 20th for Shots in Box Conceded
- 20th for Shots from Set Pieces Conceded
The last three metrics are of key importance as among midfielders, Saka is ranked:-
- 1st for Shots
- 2nd for Shots in Box
- 4th for Corners Taken
- 3rd for Penalties Taken (could have been higher but for his generosity to distribute penalties among teammates)
- 2nd for Penalties Scored
Now, let’s dissect the Single Gameweek (SGW) versus Double Gameweek (DGW) conundrum. Let us look at the top scorers in the last two DGWs: –
So, there’s a 50% chance that a SGW player will outscore a DGW player. And I will happily take that chance on a man who has scored 28 points in his last 3 games and the highest points this season.
In the realm of Fantasy Premier League, decisions carry weight, and underestimating Saka’s potential could prove costly. Heeding the call of wisdom, I advocate for trust in his form and tenacity, for in the turbulent sea of FPL choices, Saka stands as a steadfast anchor of performance and promise.
Kevin De Bruyne (£10.5m) – MID, Man City – 18.9% TSB
Kevin De Bruyne is the most transferred out Man City player this round. But those pulling the trigger might soon regret it.
I mentioned the most eye-catching fixtures of this week goes to Man City. Now, let’s talk numbers. In the last 5 GWs, among his Man City teammates, KDB is ranked:
- 1st for Mins Played
- 1st for Shots
- 1st for Key Passes
- 1st for Big Chances Created
- 1st for xA
- 1st for Assists
- 1st for Bonus Points
- 2nd for FPL points
- 2nd for xPts
- 2nd for BPS
- 2nd for Goals Scored
- 2nd for Shots on Target
- 2nd for xGI
- 2nd for Goal Involvements
Worried about rotation? Don’t be. With the Champions League out of the picture and the title race heating up, Pep’s unlikely to shuffle his lineup any more than necessary.
And let’s not forget KDB’s love affair with Double Gameweeks. Just a couple of seasons ago, he smashed a whopping 30 points in DGW36 against Newcastle at home and Wolves away.
So, here’s the scoop: KDB isn’t a must-buy, but if you’ve already got him in your squad, holding onto him is a no-brainer.
FPL Gameweek 37 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Fabian Schär (£5.6m) – DEF, Newcastle – 10.1% TSB
Schär was a popular choice for many managers on Wildcard in Gameweek 35 due to Newcastle’s promising fixtures. However, his playing time was cut short to just 45 minutes against Sheffield United due to injury. Despite Eddie Howe’s earlier prediction that Schär would be out for the remainder of the season with a minor hamstring problem, the player himself expressed optimism about returning to action.
Yet, it appears that the manager’s assessment was accurate. Even if Schär manages a miraculous recovery, he won’t feature in Double Gameweek 37. Therefore, it’s advisable to offload the Swiss international from your squad, particularly if you’re utilizing Bench Boost.
Virgil van Dijk (£6.6m) – DEF, Liverpool – 18.6% TSB
Once upon a time, the trio of Liverpool defenders was the envy of Fantasy Premier League managers everywhere, churning out points with remarkable consistency. However, this season has seen a stark reversal of fortunes, with their once formidable backline now a mere shadow of its former glory.
Take Virgil van Dijk, for instance, the highest owned among the three. In his last 9 outings, he’s mustered a paltry 12 points, a far cry from the towering figures of seasons past.
Now, as Liverpool gears up to face Aston Villa, a formidable Top 4 contender under the astute guidance of Unai Emery, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Villa’s recent exploits, including victories over heavyweights like Chelsea, City, and Spurs, but most remarkably the double over league leaders Arsenal, underscore their newfound strength and resilience.
It’s no wonder then that VVD finds himself as the second most transferred-out defender, trailing only the injured Schär in this exodus. As the FPL landscape shifts and evolves, managers must make tough decisions, and for many, parting ways with Liverpool’s defensive stalwart seems like the prudent choice.
