FPL Gameweek 21 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Phil Foden (£7.9m) – MID, Man City – 21.6% TSB
Eddie Howe’s squad might be facing a confidence crisis with five defeats in their last six league games as they prepare to host the reigning champions at St. James’ Park. Newcastle has the undesirable distinction of conceding the most goals since Gameweek 15, having faced teams like Everton, Fulham, Luton, and Nottingham Forest during this period. The upcoming challenge for them is formidable, as they take on the City juggernaut, who has scored 24 goals in their last eight matches, including a convincing 5-0 victory against Huddersfield.
Phil Foden has been in exceptional form lately, contributing either with goals or assists in the last four matches for City across all competitions. In the previous game against Huddersfield, he scored twice, and in the last league match against Sheffield United, he provided two assists. Foden has been a consistent starter, featuring in 17 of the 19 league matches. Interestingly, he has managed to return points even in the two matches where he was benched.
Considering City’s potential Double Gameweek in GW25, it is advisable to include Foden in your fantasy football team. However, the only caveat is the infamous Pep roulette, which is expected to be more unpredictable with the return of Kevin De Bruyne and Doku.

Cole Palmer (£5.6m) – MID, Chelsea – 29.7% TSB
Over the past six Gameweeks, Palmer has demonstrated impressive stats:
- 1st for Goal Involvements
- 2nd for Goals
- 2nd for FPL points
- 3rd for Bonus Points
- 3rd for Shots on Target
In the upcoming Gameweek 21, Chelsea is set to face Fulham at home. Excluding the newly promoted teams, Fulham has conceded the highest number of goals in the league thus far. This suggests that Palmer is likely to perform well against Marco Silva’s team.
Looking beyond Gameweek 21, Chelsea enjoys a favorable fixture schedule extending until mid-February.
Therefore, acquiring Palmer could give you an edge over your mini-league rivals during this period.

William Saliba (£5.6m) – DEF, Arsenal – 36.4% TSB
Saliba finds himself as the 2nd most transferred-out unflagged defender this Gameweek, sparked by concerns over his recent point tally of just 14 in the last seven games.
However, it’s crucial to note that Saliba is a consistent starter in one of the league’s best defences. Arsenal’s defensive stats, ranked with lower values being better, reinforce this:
- 1st for xG conceded
- 1st for xGNP conceded
- 1st for xG On Target conceded
- 1st for Clean Sheets
- 1st for Shots on Target conceded
- 1st for Big Chances conceded
- 2nd for Goals conceded
- 2nd for Shots conceded
- 2nd for Shots in the Box conceded
Saliba’s upcoming fixtures involve matches against Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest, two teams currently in the bottom 6 for xG, xGNP, Shots on Target, and Big Chances. Palace are also likely to be without Olise for GW21 against Arsenal, which improves Arsenal’s clean sheet chances.
Considering these favourable factors, it is advisable to keep Saliba in your Fantasy Premier League squad.

Julián Álvarez (£7.0m) – FWD, Man City – 35.1% TSB
Currently, Alvarez ranks as the most sold unflagged player, following Trippier and Gordon. While the decision to part ways with the Newcastle players seems reasonable, there might be a case for managers acting too quickly in offloading the Argentine forward.
Alvarez has delivered returns in his last two league games and the last four competitive matches, mirroring Foden’s recent form.
Having started in all league matches so far and considering that Haaland didn’t even make the bench against Huddersfield, my suggestion would be to retain Alvarez in your squad for the upcoming week. KDB is also expected to be managed/slowly integrated into the team and is not likely to start against Newcastle which in turn improves Alvarez expected minutes.

FPL Gameweek 21 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) – MID, Liverpool – 41.7% TSB
In a rather unusual turn of events, Salah notched an impressive 16 points but experienced a price drop on the same day. While such occurrences are rare in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), there’s a plausible explanation.
Salah is currently engaged in AFCON, representing Egypt, and is expected to return around Gameweek 25. The hefty £13m price tag makes it impractical to keep him on the bench for 3-4 Gameweeks. Considering past trends, Salah faced a similar situation during the last AFCON, resulting in a £0.3m price drop. This presents an opportunity for FPL managers to strategically sell Salah now and potentially buy him back at a similar price later, allowing the chance for his replacement to earn crucial points and boost team value.

Son Heung-min (£9.8m) – MID, Spurs – 33.8% TSB
Similar to Salah’s situation, Son earned an impressive 9 points but experienced a price drop on the same day, with forecasts indicating a potential further decline. The reason aligns with Salah’s circumstance—Son is currently on international duty and is expected to make his return around Gameweek 25.
Having nearly £10m (representing 10% of the team value) on the bench is a luxury that only a few managers can afford. Therefore, my recommendation is to consider selling Son and explore alternative options, which our AllAboutFPL team has covered in separate blog posts(Best FPL GW21 Midfielders | Salah & Son FPL Replacements).
