Best Defenders/Dan Burn Replacements ahead of FPL GW12
All Points (Expected points) mentioned are for the next 3 games(GW12-14) from DraftHound
Arsenal Defenders:
- Arsenal defenders are the best option to consider – 2nd lowest xGC conceded, joint most CS(5)
- Saliba £5.2m, 14.7 xPts – No-brainer if you have money &don’t have an Arsenal defender currently. 2nd amongst all defenders for xPts between GW12-14
- Gabriel, £4.8m, 12.9 xPts – A slight rotation risk, but the rest might have been a one-off.
Crystal Palace defenders
- Palace defence have the joint most clean sheet this season(5)
- Guehi(£4.6m, 11.4 xPts), Andersen(£5.0m, 12.1 xPts) & Mitchell(£4.5m, 11.8 xPts) are also good options with very little difference between them
- Andersen xPts 6th highest amongst all defenders for GW12-14!
Everton defenders
- Branthwaite(£4.0m, 9.7 xPts), Everton’s defence has been decent this season, the con is that he’s on four yellow cards one away from suspension.
- Tarkowski(£4.5m, 10.0 xPts) Alternative to Brantwaite from Everton and he offers decent goal threat from set piece too
Newcastle defenders
- Lowest big chances conceded(8) in the league so far
- Schar could be an option but he’s 5.2 Million. A tad expensive, xPts of 12.0 for GW12-14
- Lascelles (£4.0m, 9.7 xPts) – Botman is injured for a while & Lascelles will continue to start regularly, Newcastle have the 3rd lowest xGC in the league.
- Livramento could emerge as an option at 4.3 million too, Trippier could start at LB and Livramento at RB. One problem is that there’s Lewis Hall (£4.3) too!
Man United defenders
- Maguire(£4.2m, 8.8 xPts) – Picked up a CS vs Fulham along with a bonus point, decent fixtures for Man United.
- Dalot(£4.9m, 12.1 xPts) is also a good option if you want more attacking threat
- Dalot xPts 7th highest amongst all defenders for GW12-14
Wolves defenders
- Wolves are not an elite defence, only one clean sheet this season so far but have good fixtures.
- Dawson/(£4.5m, 8.5 xPts), a decent goal threat from set piece. Note that Dawson is on four yellow cards one away from suspension. Kilman (£4.5m, 8.2 xPts) decent option too
Bench fodder option: Baldock (£3.8m) – Cheapest starting defender currently, back from injury and got the assist vs Wolves but cannot expect regular points. He’s an option only if you want to save funds!

Five yellow cards in the first 19 league games of the season will result in a one-PL game suspension
Bruno Guimares, Romero(Suspended for 3 games until GW15), Udogie and Alexis Mac Allister are suspended for GW12
Josh Cullen, Lucas Paqueta, Lewis Cook, and Edson Alvarez all return from suspension for GW12.
Digne, Havertz, Douglas Luiz, Sean Longstaff, Dawson, Branthwaite, Lemina, and Bruno Fernandes are all close to suspension having got 4 yellow cards already!
Potential FPL Double Gameweek 20 News:
Why free hit in GW18 could be an option⬇️
- GW18 is a blank for Brentford and Man City due to Club World Cup. For those without WC, free hitting in GW18 will allow people to keep their MCI and BRE assets for the double.
- This could also work: Bench Haaland GW18 and roll the transfer. Use the 3 Free transfers in GW19, GW20 to get triple City + Mbeumo.
