FPL GW9 Scout Picks- Goalkeeper
Turner against Luton at Home is the keeper in our GW9 Scout team. Nottingham Forest are a good defensive side at home having conceded only 4 Big Chances from 3 games which ranks them on par with City at the Top. On the other hand, Luton have scored only 3 away goals from 4 games which is the Joint 2nd worst among all the teams in the league. In the 4 away games so far, Luton have only 8 Shots on Target which ranks them 20th among all teams.
Nottingham Forest also have 43% odds of a clean sheet which is the 2nd highest this week only behind Newcastle(46%)

FPL GW9 Scout Picks- Defenders
Trippier got only 5 points from the 4 games of the season, but since then he hasn’t looked back. In the next 4 games, he got 44 points making him the highest-scoring player in the game- Thanks to 5 assists(1st) and 10 bonus points(1st) during this time.
He has created 5 Big Chances during this time which is the highest among all players. Up against a Palace side without Eze, Along with the attacking threat, there are good chances for another clean sheet as well in GW9. Matchup wise too Trippier stands out with Palace conceding more chances from the right flank (30 chances, joint 5th highest) than their left flank(23) and central zone(19) so far this season. They have also conceded more crosses from the right flank(94) than the left flank(84) and it’s the right flank where Trippier operates.
Pedro Porro has started every game since GW2 and has returned in 5/7 games in this time with 2 assists and 3 clean sheets. Porro has 11 shots during this time which is the 2nd highest among defenders only behind Cash. Fulham on the road are ranked 5th worst for xG/90 mins in the league so there are good clean sheet chances as well. Matchup wise too Porro stands out with Fulham conceding more chances from the right flank (23 chances) than their left flank(17) and central zone(20). They have also conceded more crosses from the right flank(76) than the left flank(49) and it’s the right flank where Porro operates.
Dalot is a good differential pick for this week and beyond. Sheffield United are the worst attacking side in the league- Worst xG, Least Big Chances, and Least Shots inside the box. Even beyond this week, apart from playing Manchester City in GW10, their fixtures look good till GW13 as seen below. Sheffield United have also conceded the most chances(51) and crosses(117) in the league from their right flank so far this season which is where Dalot operates giving him a good matchup too

FPL GW9 Scout Picks- Midfielders
Salah is the joint highest-scoring player in FPL so far this season, and has blanked only once all season. Salah’s xGI of 8.0 is the highest amongst all midfielders so far this season. He has an excellent matchup too vs Everton with the toffees conceding heavily from their right flank(29) which is where Salah operates. He’s also an excellent long-term option with Liverpool having a great run of fixtures.
Son and Madders are both in the scout picks this week, Since Son started playing as a striker(GW4), he has the most FPL points(46) in the league. He also tops the xGI chart among midfielders during this time(4.0).
Maddison is 2nd in the league for chances created so far this season, creating 25 chances in 8 games, his xGI(5.16, 5th amongst midfielders so far this season) is also pretty impressive with all the four others above him having had penalties to boost their numbers, Madders has achieved it without penalties.
Spurs FPL GW9 opponents Fulham have the fourth worst record for xGC (15.92) thus far in FPL.
Morgan Gibbs White is the differential punt in this week’s scout picks, he came close to scoring vs Palace in GW8 and has looked good in the last few games for Forest, a home game against Luton who struggle away from home means there’s a potential haul possibility for MGW who was the talisman for Forest last season.

FPL GW9 Scout Picks – Forwards
Haaland has been quiet in the last few games but that shouldn’t be the case for long. The Brighton game in GW9 is an excellent opportunity for Haaland and Man City to bounce back. Haaland’s 15 big chances in eight games is comfortably first among all players.
Brighton’s defensive woes- Defense Rank among all teams this season:
- Goals Conceded- 17th
- Big Chances Conceded- 12th
- Expected Goals Conceded- 13th
Matchup-wise too it’s an advantage for Haaland with Brighton conceding most chances(28, 5th highest in the league) through their central zone so far this season which is where Haaland operates.
Julian Alvarez is the 2nd Man City forward in our scout picks this week, he’s on set piece and free-kick duty, he has also started all games so far this season and is a crucial player, especially in the absence of KDB. The matchup from the central zone which we saw above for Haaland holds good for Alvarez too and it wouldn’t be a surprise if we see an Alvarez assist and Haaland goal in FPL GW9.
Whilst Hojlund may not have scored in the league yet, he certainly hasn’t been shy of opportunities. The Danish international has had 4 big chances in his 5 appearances. In fact, since his debut, only 6 players have had more big chances than the Dane in the league. Sheffield United are the worst defensive side in the league – Most goals conceded, Highest xGC, Most Big Chances Conceded, Most shots conceded, and Most Shots inside the box. Even beyond this week, apart from playing Manchester City in GW10, their fixtures look good till GW13.
