FPL GW5 Transfer Targets
Kieran Trippier NEW Β£6.5Β
Projected Points GW5-9: 23.5
Team | GW5 | GW6 | GW7 | GW8 | GW9 | GW10 |
Newcastle | BRE (H) | SHU (A) | BUR (H) | WHU (A) | CRY(H) | WOL(A) |
The top-scoring defender last season has been awful this season, with no clean sheets nor attacking returns. This drop in production can be attributed to the tough fixtures that Newcastle started off the season with. Now that the tough fixtures are gone, Trippier becomes a great option once again, as Newcastle have a massive fixture swing, which sees them having the easiest schedule for defender over the next six GWs.
Trippierβs creativity has dropped down a bit, with a 0.15 xGI per 90 minutes this season as compared to a 0.34 xGI last season. Nonetheless, he is still on set pieces and can get his creativity back on track. The rotation talks with UCL should not scare managers as Newcastle aims to finish in the top 4, and with their start, they cannot let off. With amazing fixtures and a proven record of producing attacking returns, Trippier should be on everyoneβs fantasy radar.

Son Heung-min TOT Β£9.0
Projected Points GW5-9: 27.3
Team | GW5 | GW6 | GW7 | GW8 | GW9 | GW10 |
Spurs | SHU (H) | ARS (A) | LIV (H) | LUT (A) | FUL(H) | CRY(A) |
Son showed off his explosiveness that we have grown accustomed to with a hat trick in GW4. Son being a great player is nothing new; however, him playing in the number 9 role is new information that makes Son a player on the watchlist.
Son has the 6th easiest schedule over the next 4 GWs, which makes Son a great pick for those who want to use their WC in GW9. Son should also be on penalties, raising his upside, and we have seen how penalties can turn a bad fantasy game into a double-digit haul. With a 0.60 xGI, good fixtures, and playing in a new position, Son should be on every managerβs radar as a transfer target.

Gabriel Jesus ARS Β£7.9
Projected Points GW5-9: 24.6
Team | GW5 | GW6 | GW7 | GW8 | GW9 | GW10 |
Arsenal | EVE (A) | TOT (H) | BOU (A) | MCI (H) | CHE(A) | SHU(H) |
With a goal in the dying minutes of GW4, Jesus showed some of his old goal-scoring form that we have seen in seasons past. Moving forward, Jesus should be on FPL managersβ radars as Arsenal has the 3rd easiest schedule over the next 3 GWs, making Jesus a good punt to go for before wildcarding. I know his fitness might not be there, but Jesus will have 10 more days before he plays in GW5, giving him the extra rest needed to bring his fitness back to speed. If we hear Arteta say Jesus is ready to start, then he can be in for a big day soon as he has how explosive he can be with a 0.73 xGI per 90 minutes last season.
