Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks to Consider Ahead of Deadline

We are finally done with all the blank game weeks for the season. Phew! It has been tough to negotiate through them all. Now, we will be having 3 double GWs in the last 6 Gameweeks. However, we kick things off with a midweek GW. Yes, the deadline for Matchday 33 is on Tuesday. Most of us have used our chips already, which means our trump card lies in the transfers we make. As a result, it becomes all the more important to bring those players who can give us an edge over our competitors. In this blog, let’s take a look at our top six differentials for FPL GW33 whom you can consider in your teams for this week!

Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks (<10% ownership)

Joelinton vs Everton(A), £5.9m, TSB: 1.4%

Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks ~ Joelinton vs Everton(A)

Joelinton has been a man on a machine since coming back from his two-game suspension. In the last 4 matches, the Brazilian has registered 5 attacking returns(3 G 2A). That is as much as he had registered in all of the other games combined.

Joelinton’s upturn in form has coincided with Saint-Maximin being injured. This allows him to play further forward. He has therefore been able to influence the game up field. As we can see from the above graphic, he has increased his goal threat. However, it has affected his assist potential.

As long as ASM is out, Joelinton becomes a real alternative to managers who can’t bring in Isak. The midfielder has scored the third most number of points in FPL since GW29.

Eddie Howe believes the game at Goodison Park will come ‘too early’ for Allan Saint-Maximin, who is due back on Tyneside this week. The squad will be assessed following the win over Tottenham. ‘We’ve got a couple of knocks,’ while the status of Fabian Schar is unclear

Meanwhile, Everton had a good start under their new manager, Sean Dyche. They won 2 of their first 3 games under him, keeping 2 clean sheets in the process. However, post that, it has all come crashing down.

Since GW25, only Leeds(26) and Nottingham Forest(26) have conceded more big chances than Everton(25) in the league. Only Bournemouth(168) and Leicester(137) have conceded more shots in that time than the Toffees(136).

Since, GW27, no team has had more big chances, goals, and xG than Newcastle in the league. So FPL GW33 presents an opportunity for us FPL managers to cash in on Newcastle assets. Joelinton is certainly the second-best asset after Isak.

Joelinton also has the matchup against Everton, Since the restart Everton have conceded more chances(48, joint 3rd worst in the league during the period) through their right flank which is where Joelinton operates!

Diogo Dalot vs Spurs(A), £4.7m, TSB: 4.7%

Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks ~ Diogo Dalot vs Spurs(A)

Manchester United have had a topsy-turvy couple of weeks. They have been knocked out of Europe. They had to play 120 minutes of high-octane football against Brighton to reach a cup final. They have had a multitude of injuries to go with it too.

From an FPL perspective, all this bodes well. Given all the injuries they have, we pretty much know what their starting eleven will be. This is because, they have been defensively solid of late. The Red Devils have kept clean sheets in each of their last three league matches. Besides, they kept Brighton out for 120 minutes in the FA Cup semi-final.

Given all the injuries to Ten Hag’s men, we are likely to see Shaw play at CB with Dalot playing at LB. The last three times Shaw has played at CB in the league, Manchester United have kept three clean sheets. If we add the shutout against Brighton, United have failed to concede in nearly the last 400 minutes with Shaw at CB in the league and FA Cup combined.

The above graphic shows the defensive stats of teams post World Cup. As we can see, no team has kept more clean sheets than Man Utd. In fact, in terms of goals conceded, if you ignore that one freak game at Anfield, Ten Hag’s men have been consistently solid at the back.

Man Utd have conceded nearly half the amount of big chances as Liverpool- the team we are all looking at to pick one, if not two defenders. As for Diogo Dalot, he is a bonus points merchant. Only Trippier(34) and Alexander Arnold(17) have got more bonus points this season among defenders than the Portuguese(16), that is despite him missing an awful lot of games.

Kelechi Iheanacho vs Leeds(A), £5.9m, TSB: 1.1%

Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks ~ Kelechi Iheanacho vs Leeds(A)

Well, it goes without saying that Leeds are the worst team in the league right now, on form. Javi Gracia’s men have lost 4 of their 5 games, and conceded 17 goals in the process. 11 of those goals have been given away in their last two home matches. Wonder what Kelechi Iheanacho and co will be thinking heading to Elland Road?

Iheanacho has scored in the last two matches. In other words, Dean Smith seems to have realized (Unlike Brendan Rodgers) that it might be a good idea to have Iheanacho as the striker. Leeds, meanwhile, are fifth worst in the league for % of chances conceded down the centre. The goal-scoring run for Iheanacho may well continue.

Data from FFHub, Signup for full access to Opta Stats, Heatmaps and more

The above graphic shows the stats of players in the last two GWs. Iheanacho is third best for xG despite playing lesser minutes than some of the other players. When he starts, he usually delivers. He has 6 attacking returns in his last 7 starts. That is despite playing the likes of Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea, and Manchester United.

Leicester, arguably have the best set of fixtures in the next 3 GWs. Given the fact that everybody is trying to save up funds to bring in Salah, Iheanacho might be the best person to fund that move. Kane down to Iheanacho and a midfield up to Salah might be worth considering.

Diogo Jota vs West Ham(H) TSB: 2.7%, £8.8m

Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks ~ Diogo Jota

Our ultra differential pick last week and it’s safe to say the managers who brought him in enjoyed a memorable haul from Jota. He’s still owned by only 2.7% of managers and is playing a West Ham side who have already played two games in the space of four days, their game vs Liverpool will be their third game in 6 days!

Jota also doubles in GW34 in two home games against Fulham and Spurs making him a great option for the next two gameweeks at least. Jota has scored four goals in the last two games from an xG of 1.99 and has had four big chances.

Data from FFHub, Signup for full access to Opta Stats, Heatmaps and more

Jota also tops the xGI amongst Liverpool’s attack in the last two games(2.3) which is even more than that of Mo Salah(1.4). He also has registered the most shot(9), shots on target(5), and shots inside the box(7) as well amongst Liverpool attackers in the last two games. He’s in red-hot form and should be a sure starter for Klopp at least for the next few games!

If you’re looking to remove Kane and fund a move to Salah, then a double-up on Salah and Jota isn’t bad as well.

Timothy Castagne vs Leeds(A), TSB: 6.2%, £4.3m

Top FPL GW33 Differential Picks ~ Timothy Castagne vs Leeds(A)

Castagne returned 10 points against Wolves including a great goal as Leicester returned to winning ways. Although Castagne might not have a double gameweek again this season he’s still an excellent pick playing Leeds(A) and Everton(H) in the next two games. The GW34 fixture at home to Everton is also just perfect and he could easily match/outscore other defenders in his price bracket who have a double.

Next three games for Leicester

Leeds and Everton are two of the worse defences in the league at the moment which we saw earlier while discussing Joelinton and Iheanacho. He’s certainly a good option especially for managers wildcarding this week and costs only £4.3 million!
