This week, the fixture picture for upcoming Gameweeks has become clear and this has given us FPL managers grounds to plan and attack this upcoming period. We have a Double Gameweek 23 up next and Gameweek 25 will be a mixture of teams playing twice, once and 0 times while we have probabilities for potential postponements in Gameweek 28. These are the significant fixture updates and team and transfer planning from now till Gameweek 28/29 will be heavily influenced by the fixture changes.
With that in mind, lets take a look at players we should be looking to bring in or move out with the cards that we have in front of us.

FPL Gameweek 23 Transfer Tips: Two Players to BUY
Gabriel (5.2, DEF, Arsenal)
A move I like this week is bringing in Gabriel, as the defender of choice. He’s currently 0.1m cheaper than Saliba and nailed in the XI. I worry about rotation or early subs for popular pick Ben White and I think an Arsenal defender is an excellent pick as the Gunners tighten up to see out games in their quest for the title.
Add to that, Gabriel’s goal threat. He’s amassed 0.14xG per 90 this season, higher than all their other regular defenders as well as the likes of Granit Xhaka. This gives him explosive potential along with the security of starts in the side and given that Arsenal play twice in GW23 and GW25, I think he’s a great pick from now will the final wildcard/end of the season.

Bukayo Saka (8.3, MID, Arsenal)
Rather obvious suggestion but with them having two doubles in the next 3 GWs, it’s important to own the ‘Best’ 3 Arsenal picks. Lots of managers own one or both of Odegaard and Martinelli but in my opinion, Saka is the pick of all the Arsenal assets and will be a key captaincy contender in GW25. His underlying numbers are consistently strong with a hugely impressive 13 shots and 12 key passes in his last 4 games. He also has penalty duty in his locker, at this time. He’s at a price point that might be slightly tricky to get to but I’d try to find a way to get him in.

FPL Gameweek 23 Transfer Tips: Two Players to HOLD
Mohamed Salah (12.7, MID, Liverpool)
Salah has been a frustrating hold this season, especially post the World Cup break, with hoards of FPL managers including myself, let down after still keeping patience with him. Liverpool seem to be in a bad place with them having difficulty in counter-pressing high and winning the ball in attacking areas to spring pacey, direct attacks at goal. Their results – and Salah’s output – have suffered as a result.
Salah’s form and price tag mean that managers still holding onto him are doing so for his ‘legacy’ as an FPL asset and/or more pressing issues elsewhere. However, Liverpool now have been given a Double Gameweek in GW25. This gives Salah a fairly good upcoming run of Everton, a tricky tie against Newcastle and then a double GW including Crystal Palace and Wolves. He’s managed a paltry 5 shots in his last 4 games with an xG of 0.08 per 90 across these 4 – dismal underlying numbers. But with 4 fixtures in his next 3, he’s worth holding onto through this run if you can.

Kevin De Bruyne (12.4, MID, Manchester City)
Manchester City have one of the best sets of fixtures coming up, especially over their next 3. However, City are a team ‘struggling’ by their lofty standards and all does not appear well behind the scenes. De Bruyne was dropped to the bench against Spurs this weekend – a blow to owners of the Belgian – but given their struggles in that game, I believe he’s due a recall to the playing XI. Of all their midfielders who are of FPL significance, KDB seems to me as the most likely to get 4 from 4 starts in their schedule up to a mouthwatering clash against Bournemouth in Blank/Double GW25. If KDB can help reignite this Manchester City side, he’s a high-ceiling ‘differential’ heading into this run.
De Bruyne was benched vs Spurs in GW22 “tactically”. Pep usually benches KDB against teams with back 5. But both City’s opponents in GW23- Villa and Arsenal play a back 4 which means De Bruyne is likely to start both the games.

FPL Gameweek 22 Transfer Tips: Two Players to SELL
Bruno Fernandes (9.9, MID, Manchester United)
Having recommended buying a midfielder and then suggested patience with another 2 midfielders, it only makes sense for me to also suggest one to sell. Bruno Fernandes is an FPL asset I like very much now that Ronaldo has left the club but in this current situation, there are Midfielders with better fixture runs coming up than him. Manchester United don’t have a double GW in the next 3 and also have a confirmed blank in GW25. Bruno Fernandes’ only xG in their game against Crystal Palace was from his penalty and even though he put up a respectable 0.46 xGI against Leeds, I think there’s greater value in his teammate Marcus Rashford and then midfield spots are better used on the aforementioned targets.

Gabriel Martinelli (6.6, MID, Arsenal)
I suggested patience with him last week and even now, I’m not firmly set on the idea of selling him. He was still accruing good underlying data in getting good minutes on the pitch however the difference between last week and this one is that Leandro Trossard already ate heavily into his minutes on the pitch. With the new boy eager to impress and Arteta wary of tired legs, there’s a real possibility that Trossard takes a chunk of Martinelli’s minutes.
Now, it seems completely ridiculous to have Martinelli in the ‘SELL’ column while having Salah and De Bruyne as ‘HOLDs’ but there’s a reason for that. Having mentioned before how Arsenal are THE team to target for FPL with strong form and arguably the best upcoming run consisting of 5 fixtures in their next 3, it makes sense to get the optimal Arsenal options. Even though I don’t think Martinelli is a pressing sell or anything I do think its worthwhile to move him to one of the other 2 Arsenal MIDs if possible. This, I think, might be the better use of the valuable, limited Arsenal spots.
