FPL Double Gameweek 22 Players To Target | FPL DGW22

FPL DGW22 is a decent double gameweek with two teams doubling. In this blog, @FPL___Insider (Do follow him on Twitter) looks at the best FPL assets to target from the two teams that are doubling: Man Man United, and Leeds united plus a look into Arsenal attackers who warrant transferring in even though they don’t double in GW22(They double in DGW23)

Confirmed FPL DGW22 fixtures:

  • Man United: CRY(H)/LEE(H)
  • Leeds United: NFO(A)/MUN(A)

More on the confirmed and potential doubles/blanks starting FPL GW22(Updated with all the latest news and FA Cup results)

Before I begin analyzing potential assets, it is worth noting that MUN/LEE are the only teams playing x2 in DGW22. This gives their assets a massive advantage this week for captaincy. Since MUN are in form, with reliable FPL assets, I would highly advise bringing in one of their assets. Aim to have 2 or 3 MUN assets. Captain Bruno or Rashford. Fixtures for MUN assets make a lot of sense too after DGW22, as they have LEE(A) & LEI(H) in GW23&24 respectively. Possible blank in GW25 to watch out for.

My other recommendation this week is ARS assets, who have a Single gameweek against EVE(A). Everton is an ideal opponent at the moment who has been on a steep downhill trajectory throughout the season. Everton sacked Frank Lampard this week and Dyche is expected to take over as the New Everton manager. From what we’ve seen, Everton having a manager or not should have no relevance to who wins this game, Arsenal is far superior. Everton is quite literally in turmoil with a lack of agreement between fans, players, managers, and backroom staff. Two ARS assets this week should be enough, but add a 3rd asset for DGW23.

Man United FPL Assets Ahead of FPL DGW22

Most points amongst Man united FPL assets since FPL GW17(Restart)

Marcus Rashford:

Fixtures: CRY/LEE/lee/LEI/BRE(could blank).

FPL DGW22 players to target: Marcus Rashford

Rashford has been a revelation this season under Ten Haag and is a serious TC option in DGW22. CRY(H)/LEE(H) has the potential to be a goal-fest, so I advise finding a way to own both Fernandes + Rashford alongside Shaw.

Rashford’s stats: (GW17-GW21)

  • 6 games, 5 goals, 1 assist, 17 shots, 11 SoT, 12 SiB, 6 BC, 4 AA, 3.29 xG & 0.37 xA

Abbreviations: SoT- Shots on Target, SiB – Shots inside the box. BC: Big chances, AA: Attempted assists, xG: Expected goals and xA: Expected assists

Rashford’s season stats: (GW1-GW16)

  • 14 games, 4 goals, 2 assists, 32 shots, 13 SoT, 25 SiB, 10 BC, 10 AA, 4 BCC, 5.06 xG & 1.73 xA

SoT- Shots on Target, SiB – Shots inside the box. BC: Big chances, AA: Attempted assists, xG: Expected goals, and xA: Expected assists

Stats comparison: GW17-GW21 vs GW1-GW16

  • Shots p/g: 2.83 vs 2.28
  • AA p/g: 0.66 vs 0.71
  • SiB p/g: 2.00 vs 1.78
  • xGI p/g: 0.61 vs 0.49

As you can tell from above, not only has Rashford been on fire since GW17, but has been providing a consistent influx of shots, and big-chance involvements throughout the season. 20 games, and 16 big chances with 4 big chances created is very impressive. 1 big chance involvement (16 BC + 4 BCC) in 20 games are superb numbers. Rashford takes on 2-3 shots per game, averaging nearly 2 shots in the box per game. From both the eye and the stats Rashford is a must-have. DGW22 is the time to pick up if you haven’t already!

Bruno Fernandes

Fixtures: CRY/LEE/lee/LEI/BRE(could blank).

FPL DGW22 players to target: Bruno Fernandes
Since FPL GW17, Bruno has the highest xA amongst midfielders(3.18), and his xGI(4.3) is only 0.2 less than Rashford(4.5)

Since Ronaldo’s departure, Bruno has put up consistent amounts of key passes/shots. He is often less advanced than Rashford, but with set-piece duties, and penalties I wouldn’t say he is a worse option. Additionally, Rashford tends to struggle for bonus pts, while Bruno usually does well if he picks up a goal involvement. I wouldn’t blame anyone for picking one or the other for captaincy in DGW22. Rashford will be the higher-owned captain pick due to form, and current popularity.

Fernandes’s stats: (GW17-GW21)

  • 6 games, 2 goals, 3 assists, 13 shots, 4 SoT, 6 SiB, 1 BC, 17 AA, 6 BCC, 1.04 xG & 3.37 xA

Abbreviations: SoT- Shots on Target, SiB – Shots inside the box. BC: Big chances, AA: Attempted assists, xG: Expected goals, and xA: Expected assists

Fernandes’s stats: (GW1-GW16)

  • 13 games, 26 shots, 10 SoT, 10 SiB, 3 BC, 33 AA, 8 BCC,  xG 2.04 & 3.45 xA

Stat comparison: GW17-21 vs GW1-16

  • Shots p/g: 2.16 vs 2.00
  • AA p/g: 2.83 vs 2.53
  • SiB p/g: 1.00 vs 0.76
  • xGI p/g: 0.74 vs 0.42

Notably, Bruno’s change in role has meant he can get into more advanced spots, and quite clearly get on to chances with much higher xG/xA. 0.74 xGI vs 0.42 is a huge difference, and makes Bruno worth looking at despite his high price of 9.8m. Bruno hasn’t had the opportunity to take a pen yet, but once that happens I’m sure lots of managers will be flocking. DGW22 is a good time to get on, even if a little late. Priority transfer IMO this week.

Luke Shaw

FPL DGW22 players to target: Luke Shaw

Shaw has been a revelation since the restart, and continues to show promising signs of potential hauls. Firstly, United have found a style that works for them which has given them a boost in the CS department. Additionally, Shaw has shown the ability to get into advanced areas, often crossing into the box, and making darting runs to find the end of a cross. We’ve seen his ability to rack up bonus pts when MUN keep a clean sheet, I would expect this to continue due to his presence on the ball.

Shaw’s stats: (GW17-21)

  • 6 games, 2 shots, 1 SoT, 2 SiB, 1 BC, 3 AA, 0.43 xG & 0.11

Shaw’s Stats: (GW1-GW16)

  • 10 games, 4 shots, 2 SoT, 2 SiB, 13 AA, 3 BCC, 0.14 xG & 1.38

Stat comparison: GW17-21 vs GW1-16

  • Shots p/g: 0.33 vs  0.40
  • AA p/g: 0.50 vs 1.30
  • SiB p/g: 0.66 vs 0.20
  • xGI p/g: 0.09 vs 0.11

Shaw’s stats are partially misleading. He was in and out of the lineup throughout from GW1-GW16, and he was playing at CB for 4/6 games since the restart. I expect his attacking numbers to improve once he stops deputizing at CB slightly. Shaw has good potential for CS’s, G+A, and bonus points. At only 5.2m still, I would highly recommend Shaw as an asset. Dalot would be my other choice if fit!

Casemiro/Antony/Weghorst (3rd MUN asset)?

Casemiro:

FPL DGW22 players to target: Casemiro
Casemiro xGI of 2.7 since GW17 is 5th best amongst mids prices 6.5 or lower

If I was to pick a cheap, and low-owned 3rd differential asset from MUN, it would most definitely be Casemiro (4.9m). Many people will laugh at it, especially after scoring twice in the FA Cup, but Casemiro has a decent goal, and assist threat. If you watch him closely, he loves to maraud into the box when the opportunity arises, often coming out of nowhere. He operates as a box-to-box for MUN, which gives him the license to make late runs into the box. If you can’t get Bruno – Shaw – Rashford, I recommend Casemiro as the 3rd MUN asset.

Casemiro’s stats since the restart: (GW17-GW21)

  • 5 games, 1 goal, 2 assists, 8 shots, 2 SoT, 5 SiB, 2 BC, 8 AA, 3 BCC, 1.05 xG & 1.00 xA

Weghorst:

FPL DGW22 players to target: Weghorst

Weghorst is an interesting option with Martial’s fitness having question marks; however, from the eye, Weghorst looks more involved in general build-up play, allowing his hold-up style to free Rashford, and Fernandes in behind. I can only imagine 60-70 mins per game, and you’re likely to get rid of him prior to BGW25. I’d recommend staying away, too much risk, and too little upside.

Weghorst’s stats since the debut

  • 2 games (159 mins), 1 shot, 1 SiB, 1 AA,  0.05 xG & 0.03 xA

Antony:

FPL DGW22 players to target: Antony

Antony is a much more difficult decision, but I feel it is too risky at the moment, especially with Garnacho, Pellistri, and Sancho competing with him. Antony hasn’t lit Old Trafford up this season yet, and is very capable of being rested, or dropped. I would stay away and go with Casemiro if you want a differential.

Antony’s stats since the restart: (GW17-GW21)

  • 5 games, 11 shots, 4 SoT, 6 SiB, 1 BC, 1 AA. 1.05 xG & 0.03 xA

Arsenal FPL Assets Ahead of FPL DGW22

Most points amongst Arsenal FPL assets since FPL GW17(Restart)

Eddie Nketiah

Fixtures: eve/BRE+MCI/avl/lei/BOU

FPL DGW22 players to target: Nketiah
Only Haaland(6.1) has recorded more xG than Nketiah(3.89) since FPL GW17

Nketiah is an incredibly good FPL asset for only 6.6m, and I highly advise getting him in before he becomes both highly owned, and closer to Jesus’s return date. Minutes are guaranteed at the moment, and to have the Arsenal #9 for only 6.6m is unbelievable. No DGW this week might make it tough for people to bring in before MUN assets, but I’d argue EVE(A) is almost just as good at the moment. Everton are in absolute turmoil. Nketiah has the stats to back up his returns, so I expect him to continue hauling for owners.

Nketiah’s stats: (GW17-GW21)

  • 5 games, 4 goals, 19 shots, 10 SoT, 18 SiB, 7 BC, 4.21 xG

Nketiah’s stats: (GW1-GW16)

  • 12 games, 0 goals, 8 shots, 3 SoT, 7 SiB, 2 BC, 3 AA, 1.00 xG

A stat comparison here is simply futile, Nketiah barely played when Jesus was fit, and his stats represent mostly bench appearances. All you need to do is know that Arsenal are 1st in the league, and his stats from GW17-GW21 are absolutely monstrous. Amazingly, Nketiah has 0 attempted assists in 5 games since the restart, but 19 shots…absolute poacher. Lots of people on football Twitter saying he is a creator too, but it doesn’t seem like that’s very true.

He may be involved in the build-up of play, but he is pretty much never the guy who plays the pass and always the guy who receives it. 7 BC in 5 games are tasty numbers, and until Jesus returns I can’t see it stopping. DGW23 incoming for Arsenal, with EVE(A) in GW22 first: a massive opportunity to gain on their assets. Nketiah is a priority transfer IMO.

Bukayo Saka

FPL DGW22 players to target: Saka

Saka is another asset who is in incredible form, while Arsenal continues to thrive. He is the expected penalty-taker, which already gives him a massive boost on top of his solid stats. I would get Nketiah in first, but the double transfer for both this week is very on if you have already got your MUN assets set. As I said before, EVE(A) is a great fixture.

Saka’s stats: GW17-GW21

  • 5 games, 3 goals, 1 assist, 10 shots, 5 SoT, 8 SiB, 2 BC, 14 AA, 1 BCC, 1.20 xG & 0.90 xA

Saka’s stats: GW1-GW16

  • 14 games, 4 goals, 7 assists, 29 shots, 9 SoT, 22 SiB, 4 BC, 29 AA, 2 BCC, 3.96 & 2.26 xA

Stat comparison: GW17-21 vs GW1-16

  • Shots p/g: 2.00 vs 2.07
  • AA p/g: 2.80 vs 2.07
  • SiB p/g:1.6 vs 1.57
  • xGI p/g: 0.42 vs 0.44

Very similar stats from both periods, and I would suggest him to continue these numbers. Notably, many stats like his xGI are a bit lower than fellow Arsenal teammates, but I wouldn’t worry about this. Saka oozes class, finishes well, and is always involved in advanced areas. He will consistently get points over time, and with penalty duty, is very capable of a big haul.

I am targeting him as a semi-differential going into GW22/DGW23, I may have to wait till DGW23 due to funds. My opinion on ARS assets is highly dependent on the budget available, but if you could pick any 3 for DGW23: Nketiah, Saka, Martinelli. Odegaard is a good alternative to Saka/Martinelli.

Leeds Assets FPL Assets Ahead of DGW22

Patrick Bamford

FPL DGW22 Players to target: Bamford
Did you know: Bamford holds the record for most points(196 points) scored by a player from a newly promoted team(20/21 season)

Many people are excited about Gnonto (5.0m) as their 3rd FWD asset, but I would much rather prefer Bamford. Bamford is the only LEE option I would recommend this week, and only if it fits your team and you’re looking to differentiate. Despite being consistently injured, Bamford represents an explosive and trustworthy FPL asset when fit.

Stats: xGI over the past 3 seasons

  • ▪️ 1.11 xGI p/90 (22/23)
  • ▪️ 0.65 xGI p/90 (21/22)
  • ▪️ 0.65 xGI p/90 (20/21

Ever since Bamford’s introduction to the prem he has been a menace in front of goal. 17G/7A in the 2020/2021 season was an outstanding debut season. Injuries have prevented Bamford from consistent minutes, but in only 1000 minutes across the past 2 seasons, Bamford has still managed to put up very impressive xGI / shots / key passing numbers. Stats below 👇(via Understat)

Shots/ key passes past 3 seasons:

  • ▪️22/23: 3.95 shots/90 & 0.83 key passes/90
  • ▪️21/22: 3.23 shots/90 & 0.81 key passes/90
  • ▪️20/21: 3.12 shots/90 & 0.88 key passes/90

As you can see, 3 shots a game is a standard for Bamford. Playing in a high-press, attacking team like Leeds, Bamford should be able to repeat those numbers. In his absence, Rodrigo has taken the no9 spot and recorded 0.64 xGI/90 and 3.68 shots/90.

IMO: huge differential in the coming weeks, and due to Leeds DGW22 – NFO(A)/MUN(A) – it may be worth picking him up. Worth noting: Bamford scored off the bench against AVL(A) in GW20, while also scoring twice off the bench in their 5-2 FA Cup 3rd-round win against Cardiff. Recently started their FA Cup game vs Accrington, coming off after 60-70 mins. I believe Leeds needs him up top, so he can be an option this week with a DGW, but xMins is most definitely a risk.
