FPL GW36 Differential Picks(<10% TSB)

Richarlison vs Leicester(A), Watford(A), £7.5, TSB:7.2%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Richarlison vs Leicester(A), Watford(A)

Everton picked up a vital victory against Chelsea last time around. Richarlison scored the winner against Thomas Tuchel’s men as Everton edged a little closer to climbing outside the drop zone. The Brazilian has scored 4 out of Toffees’ last 5 goals and has been involved in 5(1 assist) of their last 6.

Stats of players since FPL GW31
Stats of players since GW31 ~FFHUB

Stats also backup the run he has been on. As we can see from the above graphic, no player has a better xG since Gameweek 31. Furthermore, he has also had the most shots and most shots in the box in that time. That is pretty extraordinary considering the struggles his team has had.

Everton fixtures next two weeks from FPL GW36
Everton fixtures next two weeks

Frank Lampard’s men have four good fixtures coming in the next two GWs, with two doubles. As a result of which it is the best time to pick up their players. It is quite obvious to see that Richarlison is by far and away the best option for us FPL managers.

Matchup alert:

Richarlison’s GW36 opponents Leicester(108) and Watford(96) have conceded the most shots from headers in the league this season. Don’t be surprised if you see a Richarlison header in one of these games.

Fun Fact

Richarlison will get the opportunity to relegate his former club when he takes on Watford in the second fixture this week. Given the fact that he is likely to get booed, he would be licking his lips to rub salt into the wounds at his old stomping ground.

Key Stat- Richarlison

  • Richarlison has scored 5 goals in his career against Leicester. Against no other side has he scored more. One of those came in the reverse fixture just a couple of weeks back.

Mahrez vs Newcastle(H), Wolves(A), £8.6, TSB: 4.2%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Mahrez

Just 1 start from the last 5 Premier League games, but seeing Mahrez’s name here shouldn’t surprise many. The reason he was rested for these games was that City were concentrating on the Champions League games. Now with City knocked out of UCL and also the FA Cup, Pep wouldn’t want to lose the Premier League and expect him to play his first-choice players in the remaining games. Mahrez is surely a first choice player evident from the beautiful goal he scored against Real Madrid before being subbed off(City did miss him in extra time).

Mahrez got a goal and assist for 12 points in just 76 minutes in the reverse fixture against Newcastle.

Stat Attack- Riyad Mahrez:

Mahrez in his last 9 Premier League starts8 goals, 4 assists, 88 FPL points averaging 9.77 FPL points per start. To put things into context, let us look at the FPL points of some superstars from their respective last 9 starts.

FPL points from their last 9 PL starts(only selected players):

  • Mahrez- 88 points
  • Son- 85 points
  • Salah- 76 points
  • De Bruyne- 72 points
  • Ronaldo- 69 points
  • Kane- 64 points

Gabriel Jesus vs Newcastle(H), Wolves(A), £8.6, TSB: 9.9%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Jesus

The man who scored four goals and grabbed an assist against Watford went on to score in GW35 as well against Leeds. In the last four gameweeks he’s started thrice and has returned every time he has started including a goal against Liverpool in GW32. He generally flourishes during the end of the season and it is no different this time as well.

A double against Newcastle and Wolves awaits City and Jesus in FPL GW36, I personally feel Jesus plays both considering the good form he’s in but even 120 minutes in the two games is enough for him to haul.

Jesus amongst all players since GW32
Jesus amongst all players since GW32
Stats~FFHUB

Unlike other strikers playing for Man City means goal-scoring chances are not something rare for Jesus.  City have a 54% odds of scoring 2.5+ goals vs Newcastle and a 47% odds of scoring 2.5+ goals vs Wolves. I fully expect City to go wild and Jesus to be amongst the goals as seen in the last few weeks.

Eddie Nketiah vs Leeds(H), Spurs(A), TSB: 5.6%, £5.6

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Nketiah

Nketiah made his return to the Arsenal playing 11 back in GW33 against Southampton and since then has made the striker spot his own. Eddie scored two brilliant goals against Chelsea, Scored one against Man United which was removed, and give a penalty for a foul on Saka. He continued to threaten the goal against West Ham in GW35. I personally feel Nketiah will start over Lacazette over the remainder of the season.

Nketiah has the second most shots amongst forwards since he started in GW33

Stats via FFHUB

Arsenal have everything to play for and face Leeds and Spurs in GW36. Nketiah has a 50% odds of scoring against Leeds which is the highest for any Arsenal attacker. The goals are certainly coming based on the recent performances and I would strongly recommend Nketiah as one of the forward options for the remainder of the season.

Nketiah’s numbers are also pretty close to Saka over the last four games via FFScout

Luis Diaz vs Tottenham(H), Aston Villa(A), £8.0, TSB: 3.5%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Luis Diaz

With most of the teams already on the Liverpool Double up in Salah and Trent, this punt is for managers looking for a huge upside to catch up the ranks. Robertson, Mane, and Jota are all good options for the third Liverpool spot, they are all due a rest. It is to be mentioned that Diaz is also not certain to play both the games in GW36. But given the form Diaz is in, he should surely get at least 100 minutes in GW36. Liverpool were trailing 2-0 at Half time in the UCL game and then Diaz changed the game in the second half right away after his introduction to help Liverpool win 2-3. Surely Klopp has to reward him with more minutes!

Key stat-

Since his Liverpool debut(GW24), Luis Diaz has an xGI/90 of 0.8(3rd among midfielders) which is the same as Son during that time.

Pro Tip- Luis Diaz is at an effective ownership of just 0.15% in the Top 10k. If you are on Free Hit ahead of GW36 and chasing points in your mini-leagues, Luis Diaz should be your pick for the third Liverpool spot.

Gordon vs Leicester(A), Watford(A) £4.6, TSB: 4.0%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Gordon

Only three teams Double in both GW36 and GW37- Everton, Villa, and Leicester. Out of these three Everton have the next fixtures over the next 4 weeks- Leicester, Watford, Brentford and Crystal Palace. He is the best budget enabler over the next few weeks and should be surely in your team if you are bench boosting in GW36. Gordon has an impressive nPxGI of 0.49 in the last 6 GWs- 10th among midfielders.

Everton have improved considerably off late which is suggested by the numbers here. Everton are looking desperate for goals and Gordon will be up against a Leicester defense with just 64 hours of rest after the European game midweek. Leicester may even rest main players against Everton due to the less time between the away travel which should augur well for Gordon.

Phil Foden vs Newcastle(H), Wolves(A), £7.9, TSB: 7.2%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Foden

Phil Foden has had a breakthrough season. For the first time, he has been getting minutes continuously in the Premier League. To put it in numbers, he has played 1928 minutes so far this season, which is 300+ minutes more than his previous best, which came last season.

Stats of Manchester City player since FPL GW22 ~FFHUB

Another extraordinary stat to look at is the fact that he has started 12 out of the last 13 Premier League games, completing 90 minutes in 8 of them. As we can see, he has played more minutes than any other attacker in that time. We are giving so much emphasis to minutes we know that given the double they have, their attackers will invariably give returns, but the problem is whether or they will play both games. The aforementioned stats show that Foden has a very high chance of starting both games.

Now let us take a look at some actual stats. Foden has had more shots in the box than any other Manchester City player since GW22. On top of that, he has the second best xA and has created the second most number of big chances among his compatriots. He is behind only KDB in both of those statistic. Even though he has played 120 minutes in the midweek UCL game, he is likely to get close to 120 minutes(both games combined) given how important Pep considers him.

The Champions take on Newcastle and Wolves in FPL GW36. The latter have been on the rut in recent weeks, they have the third worst xGC since GW30. Meanwhile, the former have been struggling on the road recently. Plus, Eddie Howe has lost each of his 11 matches against Manchester City. Foden and co will look to pile on more misery on the former Bournemouth manager!

Gabriel Martinelli vs Leeds(H), Spurs(A), £5.3, TSB:3.3%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Martinelli

After missing out two league games from the start, Martinelli was begun the London derby against West Ham and ended up getting an assist and a bonus point to go along with it. It was only the second game this season in which he picked up BPs. The other game was the reverse fixture against Leeds, Arsenal’s first opponent this week. Against the Whites, he scored a brace and picked up 15 points in the process, the most he has ever managed in a single Gameweek.

Key stats per 90 of Arsenal players this season ~FFHUB

Martinelli has played considerably less number of minutes when compared to some of his compatriots. As a result of which it makes more sense to look at the per 90 numbers. The Brazilian is top for Big chances per 90 among his teammates. He is also second only to Saka for shots and shots in box. We can therefore say that when Martinelli plays he is one of their biggest threats in front of goal.

Ultra- Differential Pick(<1% TSB) for FPL GW36:

Vitalii Mykolenko vs Leicester(A), Watford(A), £4.9, TSB:0.2%

FPL GW36 Differential Picks ~ Mykolenko

An Everton fullback, yes you’re reading it right is our ultra differential pick this week. Myklenko has started all games since GW31 and he has returned thrice during the period(Assist + 2 CS), the return of Mina has strengthened the backline ahead of a double-double. Everton made a statement performance against Chelsea and Vitalii Mykolenko played a key role in it. In the remaining games, Everton have everything to play for and Mykolenko will play all of the games.

He has registered 16 crosses and 5 key passes since GW31 which are pretty decent numbers. Leicester and Watford have conceded the most headed attempts this season, two of Everton’s opposition in GW36, and his crossing will be crucial for Everton to exploit this weakness of both the teams. Leicester have also conceded the second most chances through the right flank in the last six gameweeks, which makes an interesting matchup for Mykolenko
