FPL Free Hit Usage so far
FPL GW36/37 Fixtures
12 teams Double in FPL GW36– City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton, Leicester, Leeds, Villa, Norwich, Watford, Wolves
5 teams double in GW37– Everton, Burnley, Villa, Palace, Leicester
GW36 Free Hit
Teams to target if you’re Free hitting in FPL GW36:
- Liverpool vs Spurs(H), Villa(A) ~ Liverpool are still in the title race and a triple up is a must on a FH
- Spurs vs Liverpool(A), Arsenal(H) ~ Spurs are in the top four battle and play two big teams but I feel it’s still a good double to target their attackers(Kane/Son/Kulu)
- Arsenal vs Leeds(H), Spurs(A) ~ Competing for a CL spot and have mixed fixtures once against Leeds at home and the NLD. Saka an essential, Nketiah could be a budget option!
- Man City vs Newcastle(H), Wolves(A) ~ Enticing double but it’s a million-dollar question on which attackers will start for City but regardless a double up or triple has to be done on FH
- Aston Villa vs Burnley(A), Liverpool(H) ~ Decent options to consider in Watkins, Ramsey, Coutinho, and Cash
- Everton vs Leicester(A), Watford(A) ~ Again decent options in Gordon and Richarlison to consider
- Chelsea vs Wolves(H), Leeds(A) ~ One of the best double on paper but they only have three days gap between their game against Leeds and their FA Cup final vs Liverpool and there will be heavy rotation.
- Leicester vs Everton(H), Norwich(H) ~ Good doubles at home to Norwich and Everton, Maddison, and Schmeichel could be great options!
- Leeds, Norwich(except Pukki), Watford, and Wolves are teams I would avoid on an FPL GW36 Free hit.
Pros of Free hitting in FPL GW36:
- Could have a good 11 all having double gameweek players.
- Decent budget assets in Saka, Gordon, Nketiah, Schmeichel which allows you to triple on Man City and Liverpool
- Can Triple up on Manchester City assets which could have a huge upside.
- Can remove the Chelsea assets(already on your team) even though they double in GW36 due to likely rotation. Mount/Havertz to City midfielders could be game-changing moves.
Cons of Free Hitting in FPL GW36:
- Could possibly get 11 Double Gameweek players for GW36 even without using Free Hit. This is because most teams are already on Triple Liverpool, Double City, Double Arsenal and Double Chelsea/Double Spurs.
- Chelsea(vs Wolves, Leeds) and Leicester(vs Everton, Norwich) have great fixtures for GW36 Double but there could be heavy rotation due to Conference League for Leicester(Everton Game on Sunday and Leicester have a lot of games left to be played) and FA Cup final for Chelsea.
Sample FPL GW36 Free Hit Drafts
Other players to consider on GW36 Free Hit– Pukki, Richarlison, Mahrez, Diaz, Mane, Havertz, Dewsbury Hall, Justin, Raphinha, Dennis, Jesus
GW37 Free Hit:
Teams to target if you’re Free hitting in FPL GW37:
- Liverpool vs Southampton(A) ~ Liverpool will surely be amongst the goals against a Saints side that’s not so defensive. Note: The game is also three days after their FA Cup final vs Chelsea, slight rotation could be possible.
- Man City vs West Ham(A) ~ The hammers are stretched to the maximum and city could easily run riot in a fixture that’s traditionally high scoring.
- Aston Villa vs Palace(H), Burnley(H) ~ Two good home games and there is value in the value assets
- Palace vs Villa(A), Everton(A) ~ Palace assets are generally very low owned and could be a good choice to punt on in a GW37 FH
- Everton vs Brentford(H), Palace(H) ~ Two good home games in a crucial time when they are fighting relegation which makes the likes of Gordon, and Richarlison good options.
- Burnley vs Spurs(A), Villa(A) ~ Weghorst could be a good option for the double with Burnley fighting to survive relegation
- I would avoid Leicester on a GW37 FH as they would have played loads of games by then and have two away fixtures including a trip to Chelsea.
- Spurs vs Burnley(H), Arsenal vs Newcastle(A) ~ Both Spurs and Arsenal will have everything to play for in this fixture.
Ideal Free Hit GW37 Team Composition:
- Triple Liverpool, Double City, Double Villa, One Everton asset, One Palace, One Burnley, One/Two each from Spurs and Arsenal. Fill the bench with bench fooder players.
Pros of Free Hit in GW37:
No long term commitment can take good punts
You don’t have to worry about Everton, Palace, Burnley assets for GW35, GW36, and could use them only for GW37 on Free Hit where they have decent doubles.
Villa and Everton have difficult games in GW38
- Aston Villa vs Palace(H), Burnley(H) in GW37, Manchester City(A) in GW38
- Everton vs Brentford(H), Crystal Palace(H) in GW37, Arsenal(A) in GW38
Aston Villa and Everton both have decent double GW games in GW37 and play both their games at home where they have a good record. If you free hit in GW37, you can attack the Double Gameweek with players from those teams. Because you won’t require these players in GW38. In GW38, both Everton & Villa have a tough away games against Arsenal and Manchester City.
Cons of GW37 Free Hit:
- Trusting non-consistent(Everton, Burnley) and on beach teams who have nothing to play for(Palace, Aston Villa)
- Very good Single GW fixtures- Liverpool(vs Southampton), Manchester City(vs West Ham) where both these teams could run riot. You might ignore them and not triple up on them due to other small teams having Double Gameweek.
Rough FPL GW37 Free Hit Drafts
Other players to consider on GW37 Free Hit: Foden, Mahrez, Laporte, Mateta, Olise, Maddison, Mitchell, Holgate, Pope, Jota, Mane, Guehi
Author’s note and Conclusion:
The cliché answer is that it is team dependent, but it is true. These drafts above should give you an idea on how the GW36 & GW37 Free Hits teams would look like. You need to find personally if you can reach almost there without using Free Hit chip so that you can use it in other week. For example- If you can reach the drafts suggested for GW36 with few hits, you can skip the Free Hit that week, use it for GW37 and similarly vice versa.
Even if you don’t have any Free Hits left, looking at how potential Free Hit teams would look like should give an idea on how to make your transfers so that you can compete with the Free Hitters.
I still have one free hit left and personally feel GW36 to be a better one for my team, especially since I’m without a Man City asset and two Chelsea assets who could both be rotated in GW36. Ultimately it boils down to your own team and what you read into the Everton and Villa double in 36 and 37 as players from both the teams hold the balance for both free hit drafts. Villa and Everton are both at home for both their doubles in GW37 and IMO both of them are way better at home which makes a strong case for a GW37 FH.
