The postponement of many games has resulted in increased variance in the game currently. In such an uncertain situation, it definitely becomes difficult to plan and use chips. However, it also provides managers to make up some ground and gain ranks. In this blog, we will try and cover everything related to FPL GW22 Wildcard- if the Wildcard is viable for your team this week, and if so, which are the best teams and players to go for this week.

FPL GW22 Wildcard- Should You use wildcard or not?
This might be the easiest answer to give in the whole FPL season. If you can go without using the Wildcard, then you should prefer saving it for now. However, for some teams, that might be in a bad shape and are at a rank where they need to take risks to rise, a wildcard is not the worst strategy.
Pros:
- Using the Wildcard now, could help jump on some players early.
- Removing players who go into a difficult run of fixtures
- Planning for the near short term, like having a placeholder/ plan for getting Salah back as soon as he returns from AFCON.
Cons:
- The postponements due to Covid is at the peak right now, so using a chip like Wildcard involves a lot of risk.
- It might be a bit difficult setting up for the long term on this Wildcard with a lot of injuries and most of the double gameweek players having tough run of fixture afterwards.

Teams to Target:
Whether you wildcard or not, lets go through some teams to target over the next few gameweeks based on FDR.
Manchester United
Manchester United have arguably the best fixtures over the next few GWs and they even double in GW22 against Brentford and Villa. Although they have been under whelming as a team, owning Ronaldo(12.5m) in the absence of Salah, makes him one of the top contenders for captaincy. The other United player to own over this run is David De Gea(5.2m).
Watford
Watford have an attractive double this week against Burnley and Newcastle. Arranged on the basis of FDR, they are up there with Norwich, Brighton and Villa over the next few weeks. King(5.7m) and Dennis(6.1m) are the stand out options to own from Watford. Except for these two, I wouldn’t own a Watford player.

West Ham
West Ham although don’t double this week, their performance justifies having them in our teams. They have good fixtures all the way till GW33. Going for a triple up on West Ham players is also a viable strategy. Bowen(6.7m) and Antonio(7.9m) are the clear options to own, from attackers. Bowen is practically playing like a Centre Forward, making him an even better option than Antonio. Adding a defender to this mix, like Coufal(4.7m) should set the team well for the long run.
Other than these teams, teams which have a lot of games in hand due to postponements like Spurs should not be ignored. They are likely to get Double Gameweeks soon, which will make players from these teams stand out or even best captaincy option in those weeks (like Bowen in GW21).

FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft (1):
In this Draft, KDB can be considered as a placeholder for when Salah returns, or getting Salah by downgrading Ronaldo. Although this team does not have a lot of Double Gameweek 22 players, it does have good players for the long term and an easy route to Mo Salah.
FPL GW22 Wildcard Draft (2):
This draft focuses more on the GW22 and have 7 Double Gameweek Players. Going with this can help make a jump in rank in this week, similar to the first draft, removing Ronaldo/Kane for Salah for when he is back.

Conclusion:
This is certainly not the ideal week to play your Wildcard, but its all ultimately team specific and your chip strategy for future gameweeks. Being stubborn and not playing Wildcard when your team is in a bad shape, also hurts your rank.
Thanks for reading this blog and good luck for GW22!
