FPL GW9 Wildcard Team Reveal | Shiva FPL – 3 Top 10k | HOF 137

GW8 was another good week for me where I scored 61 points and moved to 108K in the world. After a relatively slow start to the season, now I have 4 consecutive green arrows and am feeling much better.

I had two options at this stage of the season. I had a pretty decent team to go into GW9 with the likes of Antonio, Benrahma, ESR, Ronaldo, and Christensen in my team who could easily do well. The first option was to stick with these and slowly get on the next template of Havertz, Son, Brentford double, Vardy one by one. But I chose the second option to play aggressively and use WC as an ‘opportunity’ rather than a ‘need’. Here’s my WC draft and I can’t see it changing unless I get some news in the press conferences.

As I already mentioned, I decided to use the wildcard ahead of the FPL GW9 deadline to try and chase upside and be ahead of the curve, although as you can see it comes with a good amount of risk.

FPL GW9 Wildcard defenders:

Chilwell and James are high-risk – high reward picks, however, the way Chelsea is set up, wing-backs are an integral part of the attack and I am willing to take that risk. I have also gone with Dias and Cancelo double which is a perfect combo of the nailed-ness and upside.

FPL GW9 Wildcard Midfielders:

Midfield of Salah, Raphinha, Mbuemo, Havertz, and Son is I think the next template and I am hoping that being on it a week or two early helps me climb up the ranks.

FPL GW9 Wildcard Forwards:

In attack, I have gone with Vardy, Toney, and a 4.5m placeholder. I really don’t like this formation as it takes away the 8th playing attacker, however, Livramento and Mbeumo are very good covers so I’m hoping it doesn’t come to 3rd choice bench position.

FPL GW9 Wildcard Goalkeepers:

In keeper selection, there is really nothing to choose between Sanchez/Ramsdale and Raya considering they will get their share of easy/tough fixtures, but I switched Sanchez to Raya just for the possible save and bonus points.

I tried to evaluate my FPL GW9 Wildcard trying to be unbiased and here’s what I think –

Strong points –

-High upside defense in Chilwell-James-Cancelo-Dias.
-Strong first and second bench if required(will be required).
-Havertz-Son-Vardy combined ownership very low and looks like the next template
-Per fixtures, this squad looks good till GW11, and apart from injury, I won’t even need any transfer. Can get any premium in GW12 based on form etc.

Weak points –

-Worst case scenario of all Chilwell, James, and Cancelo missing in the same GW
-No TAA but I have decided to go without him till GW12. It’s a calculated risk I am taking.
-Not sure if you call this a weak point, but my current team had Antonio-Benrahma-ESR-Jimenez-Azpi who could easily haul and beat my WC team!

Overall, I like the team and I am ready to accept the consequences if the worst-case scenario does happen! Fingers crossed!

In the pre-season,I had decided that I will play this season without any regrets and this WC is part of that. I have 15 years of FPL history with good ranks.
I want to try and add some great ranks to it and there’s no glory without guts!

Good luck to all!
