FPL GW11 Captaincy poll ~ Wisdom Of the Crowd
[Total_Soft_Poll id=”20″]
Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah, tops the polls (obviously) with 60% of the votes.
The other four have some interesting options in Toney(13%), Vardy(8%), James(3.74%) and Chilwell(3.34%). Chilwell and James making the list is impressive indeed and this could be the week where captaincy maybe split.
Underlying Numbers of the Captaincy Candidates
The underlying numbers of Salah is on a league of it’s own with the Liverpool attacker registering 21 shots inside the box with nine big chances and an xG of 4.47 in six games. Jamie Vardy too has impressive numbers with an xG of 3.08 and has intrestingly create more chances than anyone on the list as well. Toney’s numbers aren’t impressive in spite of playing all of the last six games which makes him captaincy candidate based on fixture but clearly not on form.

Underlying Numbers of the Candidates Teams
Liverpool dominate this section of the captaincy metric with 25 big chances, the next highest is 17 by Chelsea which shows the difference in the attacking powers. Brentford have had a lot of shots on goal but the low number of big chances and the poor xG tells the story of those shots. Leicester although are ticking along but aren’t as impressive from last season the numbers prove the same story.
Chelsea’s numbers are pretty impressive considering they played most of the last six games without lukaku and couple of other key players.

Fixture Difficulty of the candidate team in FPL GW11
In the Third Phase of the Article, we look at the Fixture Difficulty of our 5 Candidates. We have used Drafthound’s Clean Sheet odds and the Odds of Conceding more than 2.5 goals. You can check out the same as well for free on Drafthound along with fixture analysis, predicted analysis, and more.
Burnley are clearly the worst out of the defences that our candidates faces with just 11% odds of keeping a cleansheet and are clear cut favorites for conceding more than 2.5 goals as well against Chelsea which bodes well for Chilwell/James who’ll be once again looking for attacking returns. West ham have been defensively solid so far and that’s the reason Salah and Liverpool fall behind in this section of the metrics. Leicester’s poor attacking numbers mean Leeds have the best defensive odds this week.
Projections Rank of our FPL Gameweek 11 Captain Picks
In the Fourth Phase of the article, We have used the Anytime Returns and Projected Points Tools available at Fantasy Football Hub. With the help of the Anytime Returns Tool, I have derived the Safety Rank, which helps in determining the Safest Captaincy Option of the week, while I have used the Projected Points Tool to determine the Explosion Rank, which helps in determining the Most Explosive Option of the week.
Ben Chilwell surprisingly tops the anytime returns chart for this week with a 73% chance of return, this is basically as high as it could get. Recce James too beats Salah in anytime returns and Salah is only narrowly ahead of Chilwell in terms of projections.
Ivan Toney comes third with good anytime returns and projection numbers. Vardy is last on our list for projections but the gap is very tight.

Conclusion – Final Rank from our FPL Gameweek 11 Captaincy metric analysis
In the Fifth and Final Phase of the article, I have aggregated the Ranks derived above to pull out the Cumulative Rank Factor (CRF). The Candidate having the lowest Cumulative Rank Factor is the most ideal Captaincy Option according to this metric.
Mo Salah without a surprise tops the metric once again but the gap is beginning to be cut down with Chilwell and James very close behind. Toney comes fourth in the list whereas Vardy finishes last.
Once again Salah will be unanimously the favorite captaincy candidate. But the Chelsea wingbacks offer a high risk high reward alternate option.
