Welcome to FPL GW7 Transfer Trends! This is a weekly series where we take a bit of time to analyze some of the major transfer trends on FPL prior to the deadline.
A relatively lower points average for FPL GW7, with some managers enjoying green arrows, and others pushed back by red arrows. Regardless, managers are already making moves prior to the deadline.
This week, we can see the transfer trends show people buying players from West Ham United, Watford, and Chelsea. The top 5 transfers OUT come from Man United, Man City, and Leeds United.
Before going further, Do vote in this week’s FPL GW7 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by@AK_FPL1. The metrics has been delivering consistently with a 100% record this year. Last week the metric predicted Salah as the best captaincy candidate and he returned once again in GW6 with a goal. Stay tuned for the GW7 Captaincy metric to see who tops it. Link to all our FPL Gameweek 7 blogs.

The results and the captaincy metric blog will be published soon based on the votes.

RECAP GW6 TRANSFER TRENDS
Torres (0 points) to Sarr (9 points) ✅
Richarlison (0 points) to Antonio (8 points) ✅
DCL (0 points) to Saint-Maximin (8 points) ✅
The perfect trio of transfers! All three transfer trends were successful!
Top Transfers In and Out Ahead of FPL GW7
Shaw’s injury doubt sees him at the top of the transfers out list, with 366k managers looking to replace him prior to Man United’s difficult fixture run.
Owners of Ferran Torres saw him on the bench for a second straight game in a row, which is why it’s no surprise seeing 167k managers fed up of Pep Roulette.
Fernandes remains on the top transfers out this gameweek for the third time running after missing a last minute penalty against Aston Villa. Another 144k managers giving him the boot. Bamford’s injury with an unknown return date is prompting 130k managers to look for replacements.
Going from one of the hottest prospects in the last few GWs, Ronaldo has made his appearance on the list of top transfers out, with 103k managers most likely replacing him with Lukaku ahead of Chelsea’s favourable fixturn run.
On the flip side, Sarr and Antonio make a return to the top transfers in for this gameweek, with 216k and 211k managers bringing them in respectively. No surprise after both registered returns each.
The Chelsea trio of Alonso (210k), Rudiger (195k), and Lukaku (169k) make up the final spots on the top transfers in list, given their favourable run of fixtures from GW7.
The 3 transfer combinations we will be focusing on are: Jota to Sarr, Bamford to Lukaku, and Shaw to Alonso.
Top Three FPL GW7 Transfer Trends Combinations
FPL GW7 Transfer Combination 1: Diogo Jota (£7.7) to Ismaila Sarr (£6.3)
News of the extent of Firmino’s injury from GW4 boosted Jota’s appeal as a false 9 option in the Liverpool attack; however, he only returned once from GW4-6, despite the stats he was putting up.
Now, with the potential of Firmino’s imminent return and Liverpool going up against City in GW7, 15.9% of managers are eyeing up the downgrade to Ismaila Sarr.
Managers rushed to Sarr after he recorded a massive 15 point haul against Norwich in GW5, with two goals and all three bonus points. They were rewarded in GW6 after he scored a goal to collect 9 points.
Among all sub-7.0m midfielders, he currently leads for most shots in the box (13), big chances (5), and expected goal involvement (61%). He is also 2nd for touches in the box (35).
At £6.3, he presents tremendous value as the key talisman for Watford.
Who do Watford face in GW7?
Watford play Leeds away in GW7. Leeds currently lead as the team having conceded the most shots in the box (73). They concede a lot of shots, joint with Newcastle for most goals conceded with 14 (2nd worst among all teams).
I don’t expect both teams to keep a clean sheet; however, Leeds have been leaky in defense. Should fare well for Sarr. One thing to note is that, after the Leeds fixture, Watford face Liverpool, Arsenal, and Man United within the next 5 games. Bit of a tough run, despite the Everton and Southampton fixtures nestled amidst the fixtures.

FPL GW7 Transfer Combination 2: Bamford (£7.9) to Lukaku (£11.7)
Bamford’s confirmed injury with no confirmed return date makes him an obvious transfer out for owners. A whopping 48.3% managers are already replacing him with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
After Lukaku’s mega haul of 13 points after scoring 2 goals against Aston Villa, the Belgian striker remained relatively quiet over the next two tough fixtures vs. Spurs and Chelsea.
Nevertheless, he is a great premium attacking option to own entering the gorgeous stretch of fixtures Chelsea have from GW7 to GW12. Lukaku will be a viable caption option for this run of favourable games, with an expected goal involvement of 50%.
Many managers may currently own Ronaldo as their premium forward. Manchester United enter a tough looking stretch of fixtures just as Chelsea’s fixtures turn for the better. It could be worth a gamble to do the straight swap from Ronaldo to Lukaku for this fixture run.
Who do Chelsea face in GW7?
Chelsea play Southampton at home in GW7. The Saints have conceded 12 big chances, 18 headed attempts, and 48 shots in the box. While not the worst defence at the moment, they have yet to win a Premier League match this season.
Chelsea’s defensive stability at the back and seamless attack should enable Lukaku to perform well. The home team advantage should boost Chelsea’s appeal as well.

FPL GW7 Transfer Combination 3: Luke Shaw (£5.5) to Marcos Alonso (£5.9)
Despite starting out as FPL’s most owned asset, Shaw’s injury doubt, and only returning twice in the last 6, has seen him drop in ownership rapidly. Managers have been quick to turn their sights to a Chelsea defender.
The choice is between Rudiger (£5.7) and Alonso (£5.9). Tuchel’s rotation is still a gamble, but we’ve seen both players start all matches since GW1. While it is safe to say Rudiger is the “safer” pick, Alonso offers a higher ceiling with attacking returns. Some matches we see him play almost as high up the pitch as a left winger would!
He has taken 11 shots, joint 1st among all defenders, with 4 on target and 6 in the box. He is also on set-pieces in the form of corners and free-kicks.

Chelsea are one of the best defences in the league right now, only conceding 2 goals so far and keeping 4 clean sheets. They are also up against a Southampton side in GW7 who have only scored 4 goals total. With Chelsea’s lovely run of fixtures, they should fare well for the Chelsea defence and Alonso.
That has been 3 potential transfer combinations that FPL managers could consider prior to the Gameweek 7 deadline. Hope this blog provided a bit of insight on viable FPL moves you could take!
