Bukayo Saka The Explosive FPL Differential Ahead Of GW7 Fixture Swing

From GW7 to GW13, Arsenal have a decent run of fixtures, and especially given the current form they are displaying, their assets are seriously worthy of consideration.

Before going further, Do vote in this week’s FPL GW7 allaboutfpl captaincy poll. The same will be available in the captaincy analysis and metrics blog written by@AK_FPL1. The metrics has been delivering consistently with a 100% record this year. Last week the metric predicted Salah as the best captaincy candidate and he returned once again in GW6 with a goal. Stay tuned for the GW7 Captaincy metric to see who tops it. Link to all our FPL Gameweek 7 blogs.

The results and the captaincy metric blog will be published soon based on the votes.

WHY ARSENAL?

First and foremost, we need to talk about the much-improved Arsenal’s attack. During early season, Arsenal got off to a very slow start which perhaps shunned some FPL managers away from investing in Arsenal’s attack.

But we need to remove this sentiment from our thinking as quickly as possible because FPL is quickly changing its landscape along with new information and at the moment, this is different Arsenal we are talking about.

In recent games, Arteta clearly instructed his team to start on the front foot and this brought immediate results with 3 first-half goals in the latest match against their North London rivals.

What makes investing in Arsenal’s attack appealing is the fluidity of their frontline. Leading up to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s opener, Smith-Rowe first started the move inside his own half before sprinting across the lengths of the pitch to set up the Gabonese forward.

When we look at the composition of their midfield, there is not a single player that lacks finesse and technique. At the base of the midfield, Arsenal have two of the most robust midfielders in the league in Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey who can physically dominate any midfield whilst also possessing excellent ball-playing ability.

Further up the pitch, there is also the new signing, Martin Odegaard, who appears to be enjoying his no 10 role. As the main playmaker, he raises the overall technical level of the whole team with his one-touch passing.

IN-FORM BUKAYO SAKA (6.2M)

This bodes well for all Arsenal forwards including Bukayo Saka who replaced Pepe on the right against Spurs possibly due to his better defensive awareness to deal with Son’s threat down that flank. Saka finished the game with one goal and one assist to his name.

Playing on the right, naturally, Saka was in a good position to satiate his hunger for goals as he had opportunities to cut inside and shoot with his stronger left foot.

Leading up to his first goal of the season, after his initial attempt was blocked by Harry Kane, he quickly pounced on the subsequent rebound that fell rather nicely onto his path.

Saka FPL

He completed such a well-rounded performance by also getting an assist for Smith-Rowe after beating Sergio Reguilon on the outside to deliver a delicious cross into the box with his right foot. His ability to use both feet also could not be overstated.

ARTETA’S LIBERAL APPROACH

Clearly, Mikel Arteta seems to be giving his young frontline as much freedom as possible to express themselves and this liberal approach certainly benefits Saka in particular. Being given the licence to drift into central positions, Saka can potentially become a much better player with the entire play unfolding in front of him.

Saka FPL

There is every likelihood Nicolas Pepe would resume his normal role at right-wing which then means Saka would return to his left-wing duties.

But this does not mean his attacking endeavors would be lessened. On the contrary, playing on the same flank as Kieran Tierney had many advantages. As the left-back loves making overlapping runs and is usually the most advanced full-back, Saka would naturally be more inclined to drift inside as well.

Saka FPL

Against Burnley in GW5, Saka often drifted into the central areas of the penalty box and a couple of times, was played through on goal, only to be let down by his rather heavy touch.

Saka FPL

With one goal and one assist to his belt already, his confidence must have been soaring high right now in perfect timing right before embarking on a run of decent fixtures as well as a potential wildcard in GW7 or 8 for those of us who still have the chip in the back pocket.

With no European commitments this season, presumably, Saka will be one of the first few names on the Arsenal team sheet guaranteed to start every week alongside the other usual suspects such as Aubameyang and Odegaard.
