Liverpool – one of the best teams in the World, ranked highly in both the attacking and defensive departments in Premier League are soon to start a new Premier League season. Notwithstanding a couple of frustrating exhibitions last time around, a versatile Liverpool figured out how to secure a top-four finish in an injury-hit season. With a modest bunch of their starting players having missed an enormous piece of last season, match-winning performances from the likes of Nat Phillips, Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and of course Alisson Becker guaranteed that the Reds acquired force to get past the last couple of games. With essential players set to get back from long-haul wounds, the Reds will hope to return to winning ways and placing in consistent performances, hoping to mount a title challenge next season. In this Liverpool FPL blog, we investigate each group in the division, choosing conservative entertainers, helping you in your journey to turn into a ultimate FPL chief.

Liverpool Early Season FPL Fixture
Liverpool starts its campaign by facing a newly promoted side and have very favorable fixtures ahead. Their fixtures are well managed and helpful for the FPL managers as the difficult fixtures pops up after every 4-5 easy run of fixtures. Liverpool face Chelsea on GW3, Manchester City on GW7, and Manchester United on GW9. Liverpool faces all the three newly-promoted sides within the GW10 so it will be really interesting and fascinating for all the FPL managers.
Unlike other managers, Klopp does not believe in heavy rotation In the 1st half of the campaign priority will be on the Premier League only even if the Champions League group stage arrives I don’t think there will be much rotation at least not for the FPL assets.
Liverpool Goalkeeper + Defenders to Consider in FPL with Rating
Alisson (£6.0) – 8/10
You can always trust this man in between the sticks, during the 20/21 season Liverpool lost all its three main center back forcing him to adjust probably every game with a new center-back pairing, and boy he did brilliantly, the goal against West Brom Albion towards the end of the campaign certainly defines our season and proves his greatness yet again. He has been selected by 5.3% of managers already, yes he’s a bit expensive.
He has conceded only 32 goals in the 20/21 season despite our defensive issue, made 82 saves in 32 appearances and saved 20% penalties for Liverpool (excluding the 4 missed penalties). He is not a budget-buy option but certainly a player to keep your eyes on especially with Liverpool improving themselves defensively before entering the next season.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.5) – 9.5/10
Even if he’s the costliest still his returns are unbelievable and rightly defines his value. He’s currently selected by 28% of managers. Liverpool had a tough 20/21 season but his form didn’t dropped a bit, he constantly impressed his owners by providing lucrative points. He has an outstanding cross efficiency and his assist rate is very high. He plays with a very attacking mindset and suits Liverpool as they like to hold the possession while playing high metal football.
He scored 185 points in 2018-19, 210 in 2019-20 and despite enduring injury woes, in 2020-21, he still managed to get 160 points. He is also the set-piece and free-kick taker for Liverpool which is such a huge boost as he is an all-in-one package. This time Liverpool is a strong team defensively so you can count high clean sheet % as well. He is a must-have option in my opinion.

Andy Robertson (£7.0) – 9.5/10
This guy is no less than Trent, he and Trent had the same number of assists in the last season, if you’re looking for an alternative option for Trent, no doubt this guy has to be it. Andy Robertson scored 213 points in the 2018/19 season which is an FPL record for most points in a single season by a defender, only Trent is closer to him with 210 points in the 2019/20 season.
He’s currently owned by 13.3% of managers and is a cheaper Liverpool full-back option to Trent., he has created 11 big chances in the last season, also if you’re thinking of doubling up Liverpool’s defense just like me then you can take a huge benefit of their premium status. The easing of injuries makes them really dangerous.
Unfortunately he injured his ankle ligament so according to Fantasy Premier League, Andy Robertson will not feature for the first few gameweeks and his expected return date is 12th September.

Virgil van Dijk (£6.5) – 8.5/10
He might not look the same as he was before his injury, he might not play all the games as well but his return gives Liverpool a massive boost, he gives a massive sigh of relief for the Liverpool full-backs as they often had to keep themselves defensively alerted and couldn’t attack with a free mind. Virgil gives more composure to the defense and to the build-up play as well. His threading long balls to Salah and Mane often provided outcomes in terms of goals.
He is a major set-piece threat, he scored 5 goals in the 2019/20 season and 4 in the previous one. He had also recorded 15 clean sheets in the 19/20 campaign and 20 clean sheets in the 18/19 campaign. This clearly shows how impactful he’s especially when Liverpool plays with a high defensive line which often gives an opportunity for the opponent to exploit that but his recovery pace is insane

Ibrahima Konaté (£5.5) – 6/10
Very good young talent, not tested in Premier League as of yet, cheap Liverpool defender but £0.5 more than Gomez, Konate might feature in more amount of games than the other center backs, he got that set-piece goal threat but he’s very injury prone, he’s tall, can defend on a high line. According to me, we should hold him as of now and see his progress very closely, he might be one of the players on whom we might have to count on later on as the season progresses due to his value for money.
The is a huge possibility that he might kick off the campaign straightway against Norwich. Klopp explained: “In Ibrahima, we are signing a player who will add to the quality we already have here. His physical attributes are very impressive; he is quick, he is very strong and he is dominant in the air.”
Konaté likewise endeavored 62.81 passes per 90 minutes last season, finishing practically 85% of those. Should Liverpool keep a perfect sheet, the defender could wind up on the edge for bonus points relying upon the outcome. He likewise made 3.35 progressive passes and 4.35 progressive carries every 90 minutes, addressing his capacity to move and convey the ball forward. An average of 1.07 penalty-area touches per 90 minutes analyzes well to positional rivals across Europe’s top five leagues.

Konstantinos Tsimikas (£4.0) – 5/10
After Robertson’s injury, Kostas Tsimikas becomes a definite option in Liverpool’s line-up, he hasn’t played much minutes in Klopp’s system but he got some crucial minutes before the campaign starts, during the pre season he looked really sharp, he pulled off an outstanding cross down the left to assist Firmino’s goal against Osasuna, his runs and crosses are very much similar to Robertson, he is a powerful and an explosive full back, with his low price, he might be a descent option to keep in your side. Right now he’s already own by 8.1% managers which will surely rise in the upcoming day.
Liverpool Midfielders to Consider in FPL with Rating
Mohamed Salah (£12.5) – 9.8/10
Arguably Liverpool’s most consistent player in the course of recent years, the Egyptian international was a shining light during the Reds’ injury-hit season. In that campaign, Salah actually wound up scoring 231 goals, having been involved with 28 goals last season – his worst tally in four seasons at the club.
Salah is the go-to captain option for large numbers of the fixtures in the initial few weeks, including the opening Gameweek 1 fixture against Norwich City. He’s already owned by 48.6% of managers. He has scored 32 goals in his debut season 17/18 and since then he hasn’t stopped his masterclass, he scored 22 goals in 18/19, 19 goals in 19/20, and 22 goals in 20/21. These numbers are just what FPL managers need before setting a team. You don’t even have to think twice before drafting him into your team.
His average FPL score is 256.5 since he has joined Liverpool. He had a scoring frequency of 140 min in the 2020/21 season with an average of 3.4 shots per game and 1.4 shots on target per game. His 33 big chances rank highest among all mids while 98 shots in the box are the highest among all players. He had the highest goal threat among all premium mids and is on penalties too which gives him an advantage over teammate Sadio Mane. 12 big chances created over the season indicate he has assist potential too. WIth great fixtures to start the season with he should be on fire from the first gameweek itself like he did last time with a hattrick against Leeds. Salah had the highest xG of 21.76 among all players last season. He is definitely taking a place in my team.

Sadio Mané (£12.0) – 9.5/10
Only owned by 3.4% owners, what a gameweek differential he can be! He has an equal effect on the team as Salah, creates so many big chances in the game, he is no less than Mo Salah but his scoring accuracy is what keeps him behind Mo, certainly he is a nice alternative option to Mo. He has scored 11 goals and assisted 11 goals in the last campaign. He had a dip in his form but still managed to score 176 FPL points which is insane. In the 19/20 season, he scored 18 goals, assisting 10 goals and in the 18/19 season, he scored 22 goals and assisted 3 goals.
He has a scoring frequency of 255 min with an average of 2.7 shots per game in the 20/21 campaign. His 27 big chances and 81 shots in the box rank 2nd among all mids only behind Salah. Providing 61 key passes over the season he can get some assists too. Manes xG of 0.84 per start compared to 0.94 of Salah shows he is not far behind. Even though it would be a risk to start with him over Salah but a double up on them could be a great option to consider.

Diogo Jota (£7.5) – 8.5/10
Taking him completely depends on the formation used by Klopp, he was often used as a no. 9 in the previous season but still Firmino takes his spot and will get the preference ahead of him due to his ability to play as a false no. 9 but he is certainly an option to look upon, he’s cheap as well, but starting games is a big question. He’s currently owned by 8.8% of managers. He has a scoring frequency of just 124 minutes and has an average of 2.4 shots per game.
However, the good news for FPL managers is that Jota has returned to training prior to Firmino who was part of Copa America finals loss to Argentina. This means there is a good chance that Jota will start the first match as no. 9 unless an unlikely Ox forces his way into the squad.

Liverpool Forwards to Consider in FPL with Rating
Roberto Firmino (£9.0) – 9.0/10
His contribution to the team often goes under the radar. He’s also a very underrated FPL asset, his price is a bit high which stops the FPL managers from getting him. He scored 9 goals and assisted 8 goals in the campaign which is a bit low with regards to his standards, he’s owned by only 5.0% of managers. He’s a definite starter into the team, with a set-piece goal threat. He supports Mane and Salah brilliantly as he creates space for them in the 4-3-3 system, he’s a tactical player who might not give you any lucrative return, also spending £9.0 Mil on him doesn’t make any sense, to be honest but on his day he can be a real gameweek differential.
He has an average of 2.3 shots per game and created 11 big chances, he also averages 11 goals per season which is not so good for his price tag but he might not be featuring in GW 1 as he has joined Liverpool training camp at Evian on 1st August so he remains doubtful for his appearance against Norwich.
